Data Documentation Erdgas-BRidGE – Input data for modeling the power, building, and gas sector
<p>This data documentation provides data representing parts of the power, the building and gas sector, which have been compiled within the research project Erdgas-BRidGE (Erdgas - Bedeutung und zukünftige Rolle in der deutschen (German) Energiewende). The aim of this documentation is to increase the transparency of input data for energy modeling in the German context.</p> <p>Therefore, the report Erdgas-BRidGE_Data_Documentation_Report (2021).pdf documents the data collected and processed in the course of the project. Furthermore, the data set Erdgas-BRidGE_Dataset (2021).xlsx provides the compiled or further processed data with separate table sheets. The script available under the file name PythonCodeToProcessCapacityBookings.zip has been used to process historical capacity bookings.</p> <p>The modifications of the version 1.1.0 – compared to the previous version 1.0.0 – include the following updates:</p> <ul> <li>Minor formal corrections in the report</li> <li>An adjustment in the calculation basis of the district heating profiles</li> <li>Correction of an error in the calculation of the absolute number of individual type buildings in the database for the German building stock.</li> </ul> <p>Erdgas-BRidGE is a joined effort by the Energiewirtschaftliches Insitut an der Universität zu Köln (ewi) and the Chair of Energy Economics at the Technische Universität Dresden (TUD-EE2). Data from: Specimen-based analysis of morphology and the environment in ecologically dominant grasses: the power of the herbarium
Herbaria contain a cumulative sample of the world's flora, assembled by thousands of people over several hundred years. Recent advances in computation, DNA sequencing, and image manipulation have allowed us to capitalize on this resource. Using herbarium material, we conducted a species-level analysis of a major clade in the grass tribe Andropogoneae, which includes the dominant species of the world's grasslands, from the genera Andropogon, Schizachyrium, Hyparrhenia, and other groups. We imaged 188 of the 250 available species of the clade, georeferenced the specimens, and extracted climatic variables for each. Using semiand fully automated image analysis techniques, we extracted spikelet morphological characters and correlated these with environmental variables. We are currently generating chloroplast genome sequences to correct for phylogenetic covariance and here present an analysis of a subset of 81 species, representing the power of this approach. In addition to taxonomic/phylogenetic observations, we find all morphological and ecological characters are homoplasious but variable among clades. For example, sessile spikelet length is positively correlated with awn length when all accessions are considered, but when separated by clade, the relationship is positive for five sub-clades and negative for three others. Macrohair density and pedicel length were negatively correlated with precipitation.
Data from: Flightin maintains myofilament lattice organization required for optimal flight power and courtship song quality in Drosophila
The indirect flight muscles (IFMs) of Drosophila and other insects with asynchronous flight muscles are characterized by a crystalline myofilament lattice structure. The high-order lattice regularity is considered an adaptation for enhanced power output, but supporting evidence for this claim is lacking. We show that IFMs from transgenic flies expressing flightin with a deletion of its poorly conserved N-terminal domain (flnΔN62) have reduced inter-thick filament spacing and a less regular lattice. This resulted in a decrease in flight ability by 33% and in skinned fibre oscillatory power output by 57%, but had no effect on wingbeat frequency or frequency of maximum power output, suggesting that the underlying actomyosin kinetics is not affected and that the flight impairment arises from deficits in force transmission. Moreover, we show that flnΔN62 males produced an abnormal courtship song characterized by a higher sine song frequency and a pulse song with longer pulses and longer inter-pulse intervals (IPIs), the latter implicated in male reproductive success. When presented with a choice, wild-type females chose control males over mutant males in 92% of the competition events. These results demonstrate that flightin N-terminal domain is required for optimal myofilament lattice regularity and IFM activity, enabling powered flight and courtship song production. As the courtship song is subject to female choice, we propose that the low amino acid sequence conservation of the N-terminal domain reflects its role in fine-tuning species-specific courtship songs.
Data from: Population genomics of rapid evolution in natural populations: polygenic selection in response to power station thermal effluents
Background: Examples of rapid evolution are common in nature but difficult to account for with the standard population genetic model of adaptation. Instead, selection from the standing genetic variation permits rapid adaptation via soft sweeps or polygenic adaptation. Empirical evidence of this process in nature is currently limited but accumulating. Results: We provide genome-wide analyses of rapid evolution in two Fundulus heteroclitus populations subjected to recently elevated temperatures due to coastal power station thermal effluents. Bayesian and multivariate analyses of population genomic structure reveal a substantial portion of genetic variation that is most parsimoniously explained by selection at the site of thermal effluents. An FST outlier approach in conjunction with additional conservative requirements identify significant allele frequency differentiation that exceeds neutral expectations among exposed and closely related reference populations. Genomic variation patterns near these candidate loci reveal that individuals living near thermal effluents have rapidly evolved from the standing genetic variation through small allele frequency changes at many loci in a pattern consistent with polygenic selection on the standing genetic variation. Conclusions: While the ultimate trajectory of selection in these populations is unknown, our findings suggest that polygenic models of adaptation may play important roles in large, natural populations experiencing recent selection due to environmental changes that cause broad physiological impacts.

Simulation data and surrogate model for the DTU 10MW reference wind turbine including down-regulation, power boosting and individual blade control
<p>This contribution provides the simulated data and surrogate models for the DTU 10 MW reference wind turbine in an onshore configuration simulated with FAST v8.16.00. The dimensions include mean wind speed, turbulence intensity, and power level, as well as the application of an individual blade control (IBC) loop. Down-regulation up to 50% is considered using two controller trajectories. The <em>constTSR</em> trajectory considers only pitching for down-regulation, maintaining a constant tip speed ratio, and the <em>lin70</em> trajectory considers both pitch and rotational speed reduction to achieve down-regulation. Power boosting is performed up to 130% power level by following the optimal Cp trajectory until the requested power level is reached.</p> <p>The regression is done with two methods: a spline-based interpolation and a Gaussian Process Regression (GPR). The raw data, smoothened data, and the trained GPR models are provided along with scripts for generating the surrogate model's predictions with both methods. Data from: Compromise docking power evaluation of liganded crystal structures of Mpro SARS-CoV-2
<p>A set of 406 liganded SARS-CoV-2 M<sup>pro</sup> crystal structures originally downloaded from RCSB PBD database is provided. Ligand and protein files are processed and corrected for various types of structural errors and are provided in pdbqt and mol2 formats for immediate use in molecular docking programs AutoDock, AutoDock Vina, and PLANTS. Data are utilized in calculations of newly defined compromise docking power to monitor the performance of above-mentioned software. The provided dataset can also be used for benchmarking of other software and molecular docking protocols on liganded SARS-CoV-2 M<sup>pro</sup> systems.</p>
