SOCIOECONOMIC, DEMOGRAPHIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND COVID - 19 VACCINATION: INTERACTIONS AFFECTING EFFECTIVENESS
<p>This study analyses the relation between people fully vaccinated and mortality to assess the effectiveness of this health policy to cope with COVID-19 pandemic between a sample of 150 countries. Statistical analyses show a positive correlation between share of people fully vaccinated and total COVID-19 mortality in early 2022 (r= 0.65, p-value <.01). These results suggest that COVID-19 vaccinations cannot be a sufficient policy response to eradicate the overall negative impact of the new infectious disease in society. Although high levels of vaccinations in some countries, many demographic (density of population), environmental (air pollution), technological (equipment of non-invasive ventilators), biological (new variants), socioeconomic (health expenditures) factors, etc., influence the diffusion and negative effects of COVID-19 pandemic society. This study can provide new knowledge to improve crisis management and the preparedness of countries to cope with or prevent future pandemic crisis and negative effects in socioeconomic systems.</p>

<p>Table A.1 - Available vaccines for HPAI in poultry. The table includes information on vaccine characteristics such as HA seed strain, vaccine dosage and administration route, target species, authorisation status, challenge strain, duration of immunity and source of information.</p> <p>Table A.2 - Challenge experiments. The table includes data extracted from 28 selected studies from literature on challenge experiments. The data was used to quantify VE<sub>S</sub>, VE<sub>m</sub>, VE<sub>sh </sub>and VE<sub>s,sh </sub>for each vaccine assessed within each study. For each value of VE<sub>s,sh</sub> the probability R<sub>vac</sub> < 1 was estimated to infer the probability of the vaccine to potentially stop transmission in vaccinated birds (VE<sub>T</sub>).</p> <p>Table A.3 - Transmission experiments. The table includes data extracted from 12 studies from the literature, data was used from the unvaccinated and vaccinated groups to quantify VE<sub>S</sub>, VE<sub>m</sub>, VE<sub>sh</sub> and VE<sub>s,sh</sub> for each vaccine assessed within each study; the estimated R values for the unvaccinated (R<sub>unv</sub>) and vaccinated (R<sub>vac</sub>) groups were also extracted. Characterization of the anti-spike IgG immune response to COVID-19 vaccines in people with a wide variety of immunodeficiencies
<p>Research on COVID-19 vaccination in immune-deficient/disordered people (IDP) has primarily focused on cancer and organ transplantation populations. In a prospective cohort of 195 IDP and 35 healthy volunteers, anti-spike IgG was detected in 88% of IDP post-dose 2, increasing to 93% by six months post-dose 3. Despite high seroconversion, median IgG levels for IDP never surpassed 1/3 that of healthy volunteers. IgG binding to Omicron BA.1 was lower than all other variants. Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 pseudo-neutralization (% inhibition) was only modestly correlated with anti-spike IgG concentration. IgG levels were not significantly altered by participants' use of different mRNA-based vaccines, immunomodulating treatments, and prior SARS-CoV-2 infections. While our data show that three doses of COVID-19 vaccinations induce anti-spike IgG in most IDP, additional doses are needed to achieve the levels of protection in healthy volunteers. Due to the strikingly reduced IgG response to Omicron BA.1, the efficacy of additional vaccinations, including bivalent vaccines, should be studied in this population.</p>
