Data from: Preventing Zika virus infection during pregnancy using a seasonal window of opportunity for conception

It has come to light that Zika virus (ZIKV) infection during pregnancy can result in trans-placental transmission to the fetus along with fetal death, congenital microcephaly and/or Central Nervous System (CNS) malformations. There are projected to be > 9, 200, 000 births annually in countries with ongoing ZIKV transmission. In response to the ZIKV threat, the World Health Organization (WHO) is strategically targeting prevention of infection in pregnant women and funding contraception in epidemic regions. I propose that the damaging effects of ZIKV can be reduced using a seasonal window of opportunity for conception that may minimize maternal exposure. Like other acute viral infections—including the related flavivirus, dengue virus (DENV)—the transmission of ZIKV is anticipated to be seasonal. By seasonally planning pregnancy, this aspect of pathogen ecology can be leveraged to align sensitive periods of gestation with the low-transmission season.

Merlin- Window-5

Merlin or Doughiske Castle has a series of exquisitely decorated medieval windows. The carvings depict foliage and knotwork, with one windows showing a figure hanging from a round arched window. This has been identified as Ireland's smallest Sheela-na-Gig. The carvings largely function as decoration and may have been designed by the masons who carved them with little input from the castle owner. They may form a protective function on the building Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Voluntary and involuntary movements widen the window of subjective simultaneity

<p><strong>Forming a coherent percept of an event requires different sensory inputs originating from the event to be bound. Perceiving synchrony aids in binding of these inputs. In two experiments, we investigated how voluntary movements influence the perception of simultaneity, by measuring simultaneity judgments for an audiovisual (AV) stimulus pair triggered by a voluntary button press. In Experiment 1, we manipulated contiguity between the action and its consequences by introducing delays between the button press and the AV stimulus pair. We found a widened window of subjective simultaneity (WSS) when the action-feedback relationship was time contiguous. Introducing a delay narrowed the WSS, suggesting that the wider WSS around the time of an action might facilitate perception of simultaneity. In Experiment 2, we introduced an involuntary condition using an externally-controlled button to assess the influence of action-related predictive processes on simultaneity judgments. We found a widened WSS around the action time, regardless of movement type, supporting the influence of causal relations in the perception of synchrony. Interestingly, the slopes of the psychometric functions in the voluntary condition were significantly steeper than the slopes in the involuntary condition, suggesting a role of action-related predictive mechanisms in making simultaneity judgments more precise.  </strong></p>

Input catalogue of JASMINE (extended window)

<p>This data set contains the sources on the extended window of the Galactic Center Survey (GCS, -3.1&lt;l&lt;3.1 &amp; |b|&lt;1.8) of JASMINE that have Hw apparent magnitudes between 9.5 and 14.5 magnitudes. In total, this table contains 2,772,883 sources.</p> <p>The table contains also the crossmatch with Gaia as well as the propagated positions and errors 12 years into the future of DR5-like uncertanties (we scaled the DR3 errors following the pygaia scaling relations).</p> <p>For more details, refer to Ramos et al. 2024 (SPIE proceedings)</p>

Matrix N, TEs vs promoters, 100kb-wide windows, hg38

<p>Regulatory susceptibility matrix N, with rows as hg38 protein coding genes and columns as TE subfamilies. A TE is counted if it is found within 100kb of a gene promoter, strictly out of any promoter and any exon belonging to that gene. Since hg38 contains inflated SVA integrants, most of which small fragments unlikely to be of functional importance, we filtered out SVA integrants shorter than 200bp.</p>

Dunster High Street Oak Doorway and Window

Dig Village, Dunster, May 2018 The Oval, High Street Approached from a corridor from the street off to the right, this oak doorway and unglazed window frame is situated perpendicular to the street. It is very much an internal structure now, but once, you would have stepped 'outside' then back in, rather like an outside building. The floor level inside is lower than anywhere else in the house. Sometimes called a Carnaervon Arch, though usually only when made of stone, this is a shoulder-headed arch, formed by two jowled posts and a lintel, with an adjoining unglazed window with chamfered timber mullions or stanchions. Dendrochronology has been attempted, and a date is hopefully forthcoming. It's probably C15th, but could be earlier. The starting view faces south as you 'step in' to the room, which would have been used for the dirtier and messier fuinctions necessary to the household. The frame can be viewed from both sides.
