GIS50 Coverages Defining the Konza Producer Data Sample Locations (1982-present)
These data show the sample locations for datasets pertaining to primary production at Konza Prairie. These data reference various treatments across Konza including varying burn frequencies, belowground plots, patch burn, exclosures, etc.Record type one (GIS500) contains sample locations for estimated standing crop biomass in various burning-grazing treatments (PABXX). Record type six (GIS505) contains sample locations for peak foliage biomass measured at the belowground plot experiments (PBBXX).Record type 11 and 12 contain the transect (GIS510) and plot (GIS511) locations for plots in the patch-burn experiments (PBGXX). Record type 16 (GIS515) contains the locations of exclosures used to sample primary productivity in bison grazed watersheds (PEB01). CSM08 Small mammal host-parasite sampling data for 16 linear trapping transects located in 8 LTER burn treatment watersheds at Konza Prairie
Data set contains summaries (summer) of the number of individuals of each species of small mammal captured (relative abundance) on each transect. Each record contains date, treatment, transect, trap station, species, specimen number, recapture status, specimen disposition, external body measurements (where applicable), reproductive information, and miscellaneous associated comments. These sampling records are based on nightly captures during one 4-night trapping period in summer (June through August) for each of 16 permanent transects established on eight fire treatments (two transects per treatment). These treatments include two seasonal burn watersheds (SpB, SuB), two reversal burn watersheds (R1A, R20A), one annual burn watershed (1D), two 4-year burn watersheds (4B, 4F, and one 20-year burn watershed (20B). None of these treatments implement bison grazing.
Census of species, diameter and location at the Luquillo Forest Dynamics Plot (LFDP), Puerto Rico
Censuses are performed every 5 years, the last one was finished in 2012 and the quality control process in 2013. File LFDP_CENSUS1 contains data for the Census 1 (Survey 1,2,and 3) of pre LFDP including the Tag number Species code, quadrat location and date and stem diameter D130 (diameter measured at 130 cm from the ground (DBH). It also contains the diameter as recorded for all stems in survey 1, 2 and 3. LFDP_CENSUS1a has the same structure as LFDP_census1. In LFDP_census1a file, however, the stem diameters have been calculated to allocate "missed" stems that were found in survey 2, 3 or Census 2 to either Census 1 survey 1 (stems >=10 cm D130) or Census 1 survey 3 (stems >=1, <10 cm D130). We calculated the diameter the stem would have had, if it had been recorded at the same time the quadrat it was located in was assessed, in the appropriate survey for that stem size. To extrapolate the stem size back in time, we used the actual growth rate of that individual stem if more than one measurement was available. If only one diameter measurement was available we used the median growth rate for that species in the appropriate size class (median growthrate of stems <10 cm, or median for stems >=10, <30 cm D130). Invertebrate dry weight data in various locations, mostly within the LEF at El Verde
Contains information [identity, counts, size, fresh and dry weights] of various collections of invertebrates (and the occasional amphibian or reptile), which has allowed formulae describing the relationship between length and dry wt. of invertebrates to be obtained. These have been used in estimating biomass in studies of bromeliad, heliconia and litter inveretebrates in the LEF. They will have a wider application. Pattern morphology for frogs captured at 9 locations in northeastern Puerto Rico over a 25-year period from 1978 to 2002
We recorded the pattern morph for 9,950 frogs captured at 9 locations in northeastern Puerto Rico over a 25-year period from 1978 - 2002. Data revealed 21 distinct pattern morphs including a variety of stripes, bars, and spots. Analysis of morph frequencies between plots showed significant heterogeneity, with longitudinal stripes more common in grassland and disturbed areas, and spot and bar morphs more common in forests where palm and bromeliad axils are important habitat features. Comparison of morph frequencies through time at the same sites showed temporal shifts immediately following Hurricane Hugo in 1989. We suggest that the pattern polymorphism is maintained in part by local habitat matching resulting from selection pressure from visual predators. Geospatial data for Luquillo Mountains, Puerto Rico: Mean annual precipitation, elevation, watershed outlines, and rain gage locations

These geospatial data sets were developed as part of a new analysis of all known current and historical rain gages in the Luquillo Mountains, Puerto Rico published in the journal article Murphy, S.F., Stallard, R.F., Scholl, M.A., Gonzalez, G., and Torres-Sanchez, A.J., 2017, Reassessing rainfall in the Luquillo Mountains, Puerto Rico: Local and global ecohydrological implications: PLOS One 12(7): e0180987, p. 1-26, https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0180987. That article provides a revised map of mean annual precipitation developed using elevation regression functions and residual interpolation, and that map is presented here in a raster file. Stream gage and outlet locations, McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica (1993-2020, ongoing)
As part of the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica, a systematic sampling program has been undertaken to monitor the glacial meltwater streams in the region. Measurements are regularly made to examine water quality, quantity, and chemical properties. The stream gauge and outlet locations table serves as an index of the sampling points used to collect hydrological and stream chemistry data in the McMurdo Dry Valley network of streams. It documents the latitude, longitude and elevation of all the stream sample points used for hydrological and/or chemical analysis.
Glacier stake locations, McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica (1993-2023, ongoing)
As part of the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica, a systematic sampling program has been undertaken to monitor mass balance and meltwater flow from the Taylor Valley glaciers. This data set contains global positioning system (GPS) measurements of stakes on glaciers. The measurements include both low-quality estimates (+/- 100m) from hand-held GPS units and high precision measurements (+/- 2 cm) using Trimble (4000 SSE) geodetic receivers. The purpose of these measurements was to obtain rough stake locations for use in relocating stakes in the future and precise stake locations for use in calculating stake displacement. The measurements are made relative to the WGS84 ellipsoid.
Limno run codes, dates, and locations associated with vertical lake profile data collected in the McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica (1991-2025, ongoing)
This data package provides a summary of "limno runs" performed each season in lakes located throughout the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica as part of the McMurdo Dry Valleys Long Term Ecological Research program. Each limno run is identified by unique code that allows one to compile a complete set of limnological data from a particular lake and location at specific time points. There are usually two or three limno runs performed per lake per austral summer field season, although the number of runs may vary by lake and by season depending on site access, site conditions, and other external factors.

WSC - Temperature and relative humidity data from 150 locations in and around Madison, Wisconsin from 2012 - 2021
To study the urban heat island and other local climatic processes in Madison, Wisconsin, in March 2012, 135 HOBO U23 Pro v2 temperature/relative humidity sensors in RS1 solar shields (Onset Computing) were attached to streetlight and utility poles in and around Madison, Wisconsin. Additional locations were added in 2012 and 2013 for a total of 150 locations. The sensors were installed at a height of 3.5 meters, and they automatically record instantaneous temperature and relative humidity every 15 minutes. This dataset includes all temperature/humidity measurements and a separate file with the coordinates of each measurement location.

A description of transects used for long term studies of marsh vegetation in Rowley, MA. Four sites ((12 transects) were originally set up to study the impact of salt marsh haying. Two of these sites (labeled McH and EPH) were regularly hayed until 2002. The other two (PUH and CC) were reference sites. Two additional sites labeled RM (8 transects) were originally set up to track invasion by Phragmites australis.
