FIGURE 1. Distribution of Aceria thalgi sp. n. in Australia (closed circles, 1 = type locality). The earliest observation of characteristic damage (1928) was from Bathurst, New South Wales (solid square). All collection localities were on Sonchus oleraceus, except in Western Australia where 2 = Sonchus asper and 3 = Sonchus hydrophilus. Open circles show sites of S. oleraceus surveyed without finding mites.
