SnowEx17 Cloud Absorption Radiometer BRDF V001

This data set contains measurements of the bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) for two locations in Colorado, USA: Grand Mesa, a snow-covered, forested study site about 40 miles east of Grand Junction; and Senator Beck Basin approximately 80 miles to the SSE of Grand Mesa. Measurements were acquired using the NASA Cloud Absorption Radiometer (CAR), an airborne multi-angular, multi-wavelength scanning radiometer. The CAR instrument measures scattered light in 14 spectral bands between 0.34 μm and 2.30 μm, which lie in the UV, visible, and near-infrared atmospheric windows. Data were obtained for a variety of conditions including snow grain size (or age), snow liquid water content, solar zenith angle, cloud cover, and snowpack thickness. The data set can be used to assess the accuracy of satellite reflectance and albedo products in snow-covered, forested landscapes.

CH3D ICE ABSORPTION COEFFICIENTS V1.0

This data set is the result of laboratory transmission spectroscopy experiments performed within a sealed cell in the ice laboratory at Northern Arizona University. We record spectra at wavelengths from 1 to 6 microns to study CH3D bands at 2.47, 2.87, and 4.56 microns (as indicated by '25', '29' and '45' in the data file names). We report temperature-dependent absorption coefficients of these bands when the CH3D is diluted in CH4 ice and also when it is dissolved in N2 ice. These absorption coefficient spectra can be combined with data from the literature to simulate arbitrary D/H ratio absorption coefficients for CH4 ice and for CH4 in N2 ice. The data were originally published in 2011 in Icarus, vol. 212, pp. 941-949, and that paper should be consulted for details about laboratory procedures and limitations of the data.

Sloan Digital Sky Survey Broad Absorption Line Quasars Catalog: 3rd Data Release

The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Broad Absorption Line (BAL) Quasars Catalog (based on the 3rd SDSS Data Release) contains a total of 4784 unique BAL quasars from the SDSS DR3 (<a href="https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/ftp/cats/VII/243">CDS Cat. <VII/243></a>). An automated algorithm was used to match a continuum to each quasar and to identify regions of flux at least 10% below the continuum over a velocity range of at least 1000 km/s in the C IV and Mg II absorption regions. The model continuum was selected as the best-fit match from a set of template quasar spectra binned in luminosity, emission line width, and redshift z, with the power-law spectral index and amount of dust reddening as additional free parameters. The authors characterize their sample through the traditional 'balnicity' index BI and a revised absorption index AI, as well as through parameters such as the width, outflow velocity, fractional depth, and number of troughs. From a sample of 16,883 quasars at 1.7 <= z <= 4.38, they identify 4386 (26.0%) quasars with broad C IV absorption, of which 1756 (10.4%) satisfy traditional selection criteria. From a sample of 34,973 quasars at 0.5 <= z <= 2.15, they identify 457 (1.31%) quasars with broad Mg II absorption, 191 (0.55%) of which satisfy traditional selection criteria. They find that BAL quasars may have broader emission lines on average than other quasars. Much more information on the SDSS is available at the project's web site at <a href="http://www.sdss.org/">http://www.sdss.org/</a>. This table was created by the HEASARC in July 2008 based on <a href="https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/ftp/cats/J/ApJS/165/1">CDS catalog J/ApJS/165/1</a> file table4.dat. DAWN GRAND MAP VESTA NEUTRON ABSORPTION V1.0

A global map of a unitless compositional parameter, delta-C_perpendicular (DCP), and propagated 1-sigma uncertainties is provided. DCP varies linearly with the macroscopic thermal neutron absorption cross section of Vesta's regolith. An equation for converting tabulated DCP values to absorption units is provided in this document. DCP was determined from thermal and epithermal neutron counting rates measured by the NASA Dawn mission's Gamma Ray and Neutron Detector (GRaND) while in low altitude mapping orbit, about 210 km from Vesta's surface. The measurements are representative of Vesta's bulk regolith composition to depths of a few decimeters with a spatial resolution of about 300-km full-width-at-half-maximum of arc length on the surface. The methods used to determine neutron absorption are described by PRETTYMANETAL2013.
