Light response curves measured from shoots harvested at three levels in the canopy from 19 1m x 1m plots dominated by S. pulchra or B. nana shrubs near LTER Shrub plots at Toolik Field Station, AK the summer of 2012.

This dataset contains light response curves and modeled light curve parameters from shoots clipped from low, mid, and the top parts of tall, shrub canopies dominated either by Salix pulchra or Betula nana. Six shoots were harvested from each 1m x 1m plot, two from each level in the canopy in plots located near the LTER shrub plots at Toolik Field Station, AK the summer of 2012. The species harvested were chosen based on the species present in each plot, thus the species from each segment of the canopy may not be the same. Additional information about each shoot can be found in the "2012_GS_ITEX_PF_ShootA-CiData" and "2012_GS_ITEX_PF_ShootHarvestData" pages, regarding the A-Ci response, area, mass, leaf area index, and leaf nitrogen content of each shoot. The file "2012_GS_ITEX_PercentCover" contains the species cover data for each plot.

Aboveground plant and belowground stem biomass were measured in moist acidic and moist non-acidic tussock tundra experimental plots, Toolik Field Station, Alaska, Arctic LTER 2000.

Aboveground plant and belowground stem biomass were measured in moist acidic and moist non-acidic tussock tundra experimental plots. Treatments at the acidic site include control and nitrogen (N) plus phosphorus (P) amendments; treatments at the non-acidic site include N, P, N+P, greenhouse warming, and greenhouse+N+P. Note: Version 8 corrected an error where Carex vaginata was listed twice under treatment of "Nitrogen Phosphorus". The tissues with 8 quadrats were "Greenhouse" treatment.

Baltimore Ecosystem Study: Precipitation measurements at eight stations

Abstract: Rain depth is collected using model 6011-A tipping bucket rain gauges manufactured by All Weather Inc. (formerly Qualimetrics). Two raingauges (RG1 and RG2) are installed at each of eight stations. Each rain gauge tip represents a depth of 0.01 inches of rainfall. Data are recorded by a data logger at the station and telemetered hourly to UMBC, where the data are stored in a data base. The rain gauges are not heated and therefore snow and ice storms are removed from the published record. The QA/QC procedure applied to the raw data includes removal of false tips and snow/ice events, accumulating tip data to a time series in inches/min, applying a laboratory-based calibration curve to the data, and converting corrected data to a one-minute time series in units of mm/min for publication.

Alaska 2004 Burns: Densities of tree seedlings after fire; measured in 2006, 2008, 2011, and 2017 by Joint Fire Science Program

This dataset contains counts and densities of tree seedlings that established naturally in the years after the 2004 burns in interior Alaska. Records are from a network of 90 sites established in 2005 along the Steese, Taylor, and Dalton highways as part of a Joint Fire Science Project. Counts are reported here for sample years in 2006, 2008, 2011, and 2017.

Alaska Peatland Experiment: Biweekly flux data and environmental measurements (soil temperature, soil moisture, seasonal thaw depth, water table depth)

This dataset contains ecosystem respiration data measured biweekly at the Alaska Peatland Experiment (APEX) gradient plots. Five plots encompass the gradient all changing in dominant vegetation type. Plot labels are as follows: BS (Black Spruce), WB (Shrub), TG (Grass), EC (Sedge/forb), Control (Rich fen). Data set also includes environmental data (soil temperature, soil moisture, seasonal thaw depth, water table depth) taken at the same time as each flux.
