High-resolution climate model output for selected extreme precipitation events in Cyprus
<p>This dataset consists of high-resolution model output for selected past and future extreme precipitation events for Cyprus. It was generated in the framework of the BINGO Research Project (http://www.projectbingo.eu/) . BINGO has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme, under Grant Agreement number 641739. Paphos Castle, Cyprus
Paphos castle has been a declared Ancient Monument since 1935 and a UNESCO World Heritage List monument, along with other monuments of the archaeological park of Paphos, since 1980. It is located in the harbour area of Paphos town and its main role was to control the gateway of the port and provide defence against any hostile troops . Most scholars agree upon the mid-/late-14th century as its date of erection by the Frankish ruling family of the Lusignans, despite there being no solid and reliable testimonies regarding any fortification works carried out between the earthquake of 1222 and the invasion of the Genoese in 1373. Its importance lies in the symbolic meaning as the most prominent and dominant archaeological monument of Paphos and therefore it is considered a landmark for tourists and the town itself. 3D model : **Klemen Kozmus** Source: https://downloadfree3d.com/3d-models/architecture/building/cyprus-paphos-castle/ Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
Reconstructed Neolithic Hut Choirocoitia, Cyprus
Choirocoitia is an archaeological site on the island of Cyprus dating from the Neolithic age. It has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1998. The site is known as one of the most important and best preserved prehistoric sites of the eastern Mediterranean. Much of its importance lies in the evidence of an organised functional society in the form of a collective settlement, with surrounding fortifications for communal protection. The Neolithic aceramic period is represented by this settlement and around 20 other similar settlements spread throughout the island.
