Raw and processed anomalous diffraction data for crystals of metal-free R2lox soaked with Mn, Fe and Co or Zn

<p>Raw and processed anomalous diffraction data for crystals&nbsp;of metal-free <em>Geobacillus kaustophilus</em> R2-like ligand-binding oxidase (R2lox) soaked with 5 mM each&nbsp;MnCl2, (NH4)2Fe(SO4)2 and CoCl2 or ZnCl2. Data were collected on two&nbsp;crystals each&nbsp;after soaking with Mn, Fe and Co or Mn, Fe and Zn, respectively. For each crystal, one dataset each was collected at the Fe K edge&nbsp;(7162 eV),&nbsp;Mn K edge (6589 eV) and Co K edge (7721 eV) or Zn K edge (9664 eV; X-ray energies corresponding to the theoretical K edge + 50 eV). Data were collected at 100 K on a Pilatus 6M detector at beamline X06SA of the Swiss Light Source (SLS, Villigen, Switzerland) on September 23, 2012, and processed with XDS and XSCALE. All raw and processed diffraction data for each crystal are compressed into one file.&nbsp;</p>

Source code of tables for the publication "K- and L-shell theoretical fluorescence yields for the Fe isonuclear sequence"

<p>In this work, we present K- and L- shell fluorescence yield values of the full isonuclear sequence of Fe ions, using a state-of-the-art multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock approach. These results may be of importance for spectral fitting and plasma modeling, both in laboratory and astrophysical studies, where Fe is an important benchmark element. The K-shell fluorescence yields were found to be very similar up to the removal of 14 electrons.</p>

The contribution of Fe(III) reduction to soil carbon mineralization in montane meadows depends on soil chemistry, not parent material or microbial community

<p>The long-term stability of soil carbon (C) is strongly influenced by organo-mineral interactions. Iron (Fe)-oxides can both inhibit microbial decomposition by providing physicochemical protection for organic molecules and enhance rates of C mineralization by serving as a terminal electron acceptor, depending on redox conditions. Restoration of floodplain hydrology in montane meadows has been proposed as a method of sequestering C for climate change mitigation. However, dissimilatory microbial reduction of Fe(III) could lead to C losses under increased reducing conditions. In this study, we explored variations in Fe-C interactions over a range of redox conditions and in soils derived from two distinct parent materials to elucidate biochemical and microbial controls on soil C cycling in Sierra Nevada montane meadows. Differences in parent material were associated with different rates of Fe(III) reduction at increasing soil moisture levels, but not with differences in soil C mineralization. Known Fe(III)-reducing taxa were present in all samples but neither the relative abundance nor richness of Fe(III) reducers corresponded with measured rates of Fe(III) reduction. Under reducing conditions, our results suggest that Fe(III) reduction contributes to C mineralization only when Fe-bound C is present. However, Fe-bound C was not present in all of our soils and was below theoretical limits for C sorption onto Fe-oxides where it was found. Overall, our results suggest that meadow-specific soil chemistry drives Fe-C interactions and that the impact of Fe on C cycling in montane meadows may be smaller than in other ecosystems.</p>

Combined P-V-T Data for hcp-Fe with Reevaluated Pressures and Pressure Uncertainties

<p>This dataset consists of unit-cell volumes, temperatures, and reevaluated pressures, and their related uncertainties for&nbsp;<em>hcp-</em>Fe. The volumes and temperatures are taken from previous studies (indicated under the column &quot;Original Publication&quot;), and the pressures&nbsp;were reevaluated using the internally consistent pressure scales of Fei <em>et al</em>., 2007. The pressure uncertainties presented here propagate uncertainties in the volume and temperature measurements, as well as the uncertainty and covariance in the equation of state parameters used to determine the pressure. Also listed are the beamline the data were originally collected at, and the compression technique (DAC= Diamond Anvil Cell; MAP= Multi-Anvil Press).</p>
