Major element and volatile compositons of volcanic glasses and related datasets for paleobathymetry of the Samail & Troodos ophiolites

<p>This archived dataset accompanies the article &quot;<em>Paleobathymetry of submarine lavas in the Samail and Troodos ophiolites: insights from volatiles in glasses and implications for hydrothermal systems</em>&quot; in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth (Belgrano et al. 2021). Comprehensive details on the aquisition and selection of this data are given in the accompanying article.</p> <p>This dataset archive consists of a multi-sheet Excel file containing: (1) Newly measured major element and H<sub>2</sub>O (&plusmn; CO<sub>2</sub>) compositions for volcanic glasses recovered from the Samail ophiolite, respectively determined by electron microprobe analysis (EMPA) and Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). (2) The raw Beer-Lambert equation parameters as used to determine these H<sub>2</sub>O (&plusmn; CO<sub>2</sub>) compositions. (3) The H<sub>2</sub>O (&plusmn; CO<sub>2</sub>) compositions of volcanic glasses from the Troodos ophiolite reproduced from Woelki et al. (2020) together with newly calculated volatile saturation pressures and their depth equivalents. (4) A compilation of previously published volcanic glass data used to calibrate and test the paleobathymetric approach at the centre of the related publication. (5) A reference list for previously published data.</p>

MicroRNA Panel Predicts Lung Adenocarcinoma in Patients Presenting with Ground-Glass Nodules

<p>MicroRNA (miRNA) expression is correlated with tumor histology, differentiation, invasiveness and treatment outcome. We aimed to identify miRNAs whose differential expression might enable early diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma in patients presenting with ground-glass nodules (GGNs). To identify potential miRNAs of interest, we analyzed the miRNA expression profile of tumor and adjacent non para-tumor tissue in 3 participants by next-generation sequencing (NGS). We then assessed the expression levels of the miRNAs of interest in 73 lung adenocarcinoma presenting with GGNs with matched adjacent non-tumor tissue by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Target genes of our selected miRNA panel were predicted using Miranda with default parameters. Twenty-three miRNAs showed differential expression between tumor and adjacent non-tumor tissue by NGS. Five miRNAs exhibited higher expression in tumor tissue compared to adjacent non-tumor tissue (P<0.05), eighteen miRNAs demonstrated lower expression in tumor tissue versus adjacent non-tumor tissue (P<0.05). When qRT-PCR was performed for the 23 miRNAs identified by NGS in the pilot stage, seven were found to have statistically significant expression in tumor versus adjacent non-tumor tissue (P<0.05). The predicted targets of our miRNAs of interest are frequently associated with cancer signaling pathways. We developed a miRNA panel that could potential predict the presence of lung adenocarcinoma in patients presenting with GGNs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>These data are obtained using a Zeiss Xradia Versa 520 scanner to scan a uni-directional glass fibre reinforced polyester composite made from a non-crimp fabric used for wind turbine blades. The scans were performed to study the fatigue damage progression in this material. The data is published together with the below journal paper, in which more information can be found. Scaling regimes and fluctuations of observables in computer glasses approaching the unjamming transition

<p>This dataset can be used to reproduce the figures in the corresponding manuscript, in preparation for publication in the Journal of Chemical Physics. As described in the manuscript, the (mostly statistical) quantities presented here were computed from ensembles of simulated disordered solids (harmonic sphere packings, diluted spring networks, and packing derived networks). The individual simulations involve the minimization of the system's energy which is computed from positional degrees of freedom (of particles in a packing or nodes in a network). Macroscopic quantities (such as shear modulus or contact number/excess connectivity) are then computed for each sample. The displacement response feilds are computed by solving a linear matrix equation involving the Hessian of 2D packings of harmonic spheres. See the manuscript for more details.</p>

Dataset for Femtosecond-Laser-Surface-Nanostructured Glass in BIPV Applications

<p><strong>Summary:</strong></p> <p>This is the collection of datasets for the article titled &ldquo;Femtosecond-laser-surface-nanostructured glass for building integrated solar concentrator&rdquo;, published in Materials&amp;Design (ISSN 0264-1275).</p> <p><strong>Methods:</strong></p> <p>The experimental and calculation methods for generating the datasets are described in the original paper.</p> <p><strong>File Description:</strong></p> <p>Unzip "Laser glass.7z" using free and open source software 7-zip. The file contains following content:</p> <p>\IMG_SEM_1\<br>- This folder comprises raw Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) images captured from the surface normal perspective. Each image is in .tif format with a resolution of 1024 &times; 768 pixels. The file name begins with the laser scan speed, ranging from 200 to 2000 (in mm/s). The laser scan speed is followed by the zooming rate. Some file names include "_2" at the end, signifying images taken from a different area or captured with adjusted brightness/contrast settings. Partial sections of images taken at a 5000x zoom level were used in Figure 1 in original paper.</p> <p>\IMG_SEM_2\<br>- This folder comprises raw cross-sectional Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) images taken after cutting the sample through laser textured area. Each image is in .tif format with a resolution of 1024 &times; 768 pixels. The file name begins with the laser scan speed, ranging from 200 to 1800 (in mm/s).&nbsp;</p> <p>\XRD\<br>- This folder contains raw X-ray Diffraction (XRD) data utilized for creating Figure 2a. Additionally, the folder includes automatically generated metadata files that detail the measurement conditions. Within this folder, Ref.csv provides the XRD spectrum of the unprocessed substrate, while Main.csv contains the spectrum of a sample processed with a laser at a speed of 200 mm/s.</p> <p>\PL\<br>- This folder contains photoluminescence (PL) spectra data. The file PL_1.csv was used to generate Figure 2c, while PL_2.csv was used for Figure 2d. The data in both files are organized in an X-Y-Y... format, with each dataset labeled according to the corresponding figure legend. Note that signals below 450 nm were filtered.</p> <p>\RAMAN.csv<br>- contains raw Raman spectroscopy data used to generate Figure 2b. The dataset includes three columns: the first represents the wavenumber values, which serve as the X-axis for the plot. "Ref" represents the Raman spectrum of the unprocessed substrate, while "Main" corresponds to the spectrum of a sample processed with a laser at a speed of 200 mm/s. Note the signal before ~80 cm-1 is filtered and the sharp peak at 416.433 cm-1 is due to noise and excluded from the plot.&nbsp;</p> <p>\Spectrophotometry\<br>- The folder contains Spectrophotometry data used to generate Figure 3. The file Spectra_1.csv includes datasets for reflectance (%R), transmittance (%T), and absorptance (%A), each labeled according to the legends of Figures 3a, 3b, and 3c, respectively. Spectra_2.csv provides data on total reflectance (R_tot_*), diffuse reflectance (R_dif_*), and their ratio (R_*%), corresponding to Figure 3d. The datasets in Spectra_2.csv are organized by processing speed *(mm/s) of the samples.</p> <p>\IV\<br>- The folder contains current-voltage (I-V) measurement data. The file IV_1.csv was used to plot Figure 4c and to calculate the relative photocurrent presented in Figure 4d. The file IV_2.csv was used to plot Supplementary Figure S2 and to calculate the optical power efficiency.</p> <p>\Contact_angle\<br>- The folder contains contact angle measurement data. Glass Frog Calls

<p>This dataset contains 5296 audio files in .WAV format, corresponding to calls of two glass frog species:&nbsp;<em>Hyalinobatrachium fleischmanni</em> (Hf) and <em>Espadarana prosoblepon </em>(Ep), recorded under controlled laboratory conditions. We further increased the dataset size using noise injection-based data augmentation in one species (Ep), and artificially shifting call frequency in both species. The dataset contains four labelled classes: Hf (1250 calls), Hf-shifted (1250 calls), Ep (1398 calls) and Ep-shifted (1398 calls); each class is in a separate folder.</p> <p>Noise injected files, with white and pink noise, were generated using noise factors of 0.010 and 0.020, respectively, using the random and powerlaw_psd_gaussian functions from numpy (v1.26.4) and colorednoise (v2.2.0) Python libraries.</p> <p>Frequency shifting placed calls in upper or lower parts of spectrum, incorporating additional variability and was used to create two new classes. Hf call frequency was increased by a factor of +4 semitones (4/12), while Ep call frequency was decreased by the same factor (-4), using librosa (v0.10.2) in Python (effects.pitch_shift). Modified calls (&lsquo;Hf-shifted&rsquo; and &lsquo;Ep-shifted&rsquo;, respectively) more closely resemble the calls of the other species in terms of their frequency band.</p> <p>Derived audio files partially share file names: '1104-18211-ROI1_pN.WAV' is the 'pink noise' version of '1104-18211-ROI1.WAV', etc.</p> <p>The audio collection is accompanied by a data table (.csv) with no missing or null values, and consists of 4 columns: &ldquo;File_name&rdquo;; &ldquo;Data_Augmentation&rdquo;, whether the file had noise injection or not, and its type (white or pink); &ldquo;Frequency_Shift&rdquo;, whether the audio frequency was artificially shifted or not; and &ldquo;Class&rdquo;, which includes the respective labels. The dataset is suitable for machine learning tasks, audio signal processing and statistical analysis.</p>

Global aerodynamic parameters in 1982-2017 based on GLASS LAI (v1.1 update to 2020)

<p>The bulk surface properties, including canopy height (ht), zero-plane displacement height (d), and roughness length (z0) are crucial biophysical parameters that influence momentum, energy, and mass exchanges at the land-atmosphere interface. Here we provide a global estimate of bulk aerodynamic parameters during 1982-2017 at 0.05-degree spatial resolution and monthly temporal interval, using remote-sensed leaf area index, canopy height, and a turbulent transfer model. Two separate datasets are generated using GLASS LAI and GIMMS LAI.
