A Commentary ( ممزوج ) on a treatise on Grammar , which professes to be a supplement to Ibn Ajurrûmî’s well-known book. This treatise is the work of Shams al-dîn Muḥammad b. Muḥammad Ru’ainî Makkî Mâliklî, commonly called al-Ḥaṭṭâb. The name of the commentator, ‘ABDALLAH FÂKIHÎ, does not occur in the text. He completed the first copy (انهاه مؤلفه تبييضا , fol. 143) on Sunday , 10th Rajab , 956. Begins: احمد الله على نعمه .... و بعد فهذا تعليق لطيف وضعته على المقدمة الموضوعة فى العربية تاليف سيدنا و صاحبنا العالم الورع الزاهد شمس الدين الخ. The original treatise commences: الحمد لله رب العالمين ... و بعد فهذه مقدمة فى علم العربية متممة لمسائل الجرومية يكون (!) واسطة بينها و بين غيرها ( من ) المطولات الخ. Plainly written. Corrections, various readings, and some notes, on the margin . II. Foll. 143v. – 185. A Commentary ( ممزوج ) on Sa’d al-dîn Mas’ûd b. ‘Omar Taftâzânî׳s (d. Size 12 in. by 7 in.; foll. 244. Mostly seventeen lines in a page. A Commentary ( ممزوج ) on the preceding work, by WAJÎH B. NAṢR ALLAH B. ‘IMÂD ‘ALAWÎ , who wrote it during the reign of Maḥmûd Shâh (III.) b. Laṭîf b. Muẓaffar Shâh, of Gujarât (A.H. 944-961). A commentary by Wajîh al-dîn, of Gujarât, is mentioned in the Leyden MS. of the original work (Cat. Lugd. i. 48n.). The work has no special preface. It begins, after a Basmalah and the shortest possible Ḥamdalaḥ: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله افتتح كتابه ببسم الله ثم بالحمد لله تيمّنا بالكتاب العزيز الخ. The author concludes as follows: تم تاليف الشرح بعون الله الملك الولى للفقير وجيه بن نصر الله بن عماد العلوى وقت الظهر فى الثانى عشر من شهر الربيع الاول شهر مولد النبى صلى الله عليه و على آله و اصحابه و امته اجمعين في عهد مولانا السلطان محمود شاه بن لطيف بن مظفر شاه الراحم على الخلق سيما العلماء و الفقير آمين. Clearly written in Nasta’lîḳ, the beginning different from the rest. The colophon runs as follows: كتبت هذا الكتاب فقير احمد باشنده بيران وهار ( ؟) . Notes in the earlier portion. Foll. 107 and 108 should be transposed. The first six leaves contain various notes and extracts, amongst them the Ḳaṣîdah of ṬANṬARÂNÎ (on which see no. 803, I.). Fol. 4 should be placed after fol. 1. Worm-eaten.

A.H. 911)( النحوية ) الاشباه و النظائر . Cf. <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kashf_al-Zunun">Ḥ. Kh.</a> i. 313, and Casiri, i. 11. The author says in his preface that this is a new edition of a work which was written more than ten years previously, but was never published. It is founded on the same principles as certain modern law-books, some of which have the same title; and it follows especially the plan of Tâj al-dîn Subkî’s الاشباه و النظائر , 1 and, as regards the first part, of Zarkashî’s القواعد . 1 It is divided into seven books ( فنّ ), each of which has a special title . They are enumerated in Ḥ. Kh., l.c., and are inscribed here as follows: I. (foll. 1-76) القواعد و الاصول التى ترد اليها الجزئيات و الفروع . This book is arranged according to the alphabetical order of the subjects. II. (foll. 76-104) القواعد الخاصة و الضوابط و الاستثناءات و التقسيمات , subdivided into chapters. III. (foll. 105-108) بناء المسائل بعضها على بعض . This book is an imitation of Zarkashî׳s سلاسل الذهب , 2 and is divided into chapters. IV. (foll. 109-128) فى الجمع و الفرق , in two parts ( قسم ) : 1. الابواب المتشابهة المفترقة فى كثير من الاحكام ; 2. المسائل المتشابهة المفترقة فى الحكم و العلة . V. (foll. 129-140) الالغاز و الاحاجى و المطارحات و الممتحنات و المعايات . This book is analogous to Isnawî’s الالغاز , 3 and has no special arrangement . Books VI. And VII. Follow in inversed order: the latter fills foll. 140-142; the former (foll. 143-277) is inscribed as follows:  فن المناظرات و المجالسات و المذاكرات و المراجعات و المحاورات و الفتاوى و الواقعات و المكاتبات و المراسلات Carefully written, in a small hand, by al-Mahdî Zain b. Ismâ’îl b. Aḥmad Kurdî Shâfi’î Ṣaḥrâwî, during A.H. 962 and 963. Each book has its own date, viz. I. Saturday, 18th Ṣafar, 962 ; II. Monday, 19th Rabî’ I.; III. Wednesday, 21st Rabî’ I.; IV. Wednesday, 12th Rabî’ II.; V. Saturday, 29th Rabî’ II. (this book was collated by another hand in Ramaḍân, 968, at قرية السلام , near al-Ṭâ’if) ; VI. (properly VII.) Tuesday, 3rd Jum. I. (collated as the preceding book); and VII. (or VI.) Friday, 21st Muḥarram, 963. The colophon runs as follows (fol. 277):  كملت الاشباه و النظائر النحوية و الحمد لله ... و كتبت باسم الشيخ الامام العالم العلامة السراجى سراج الدين ابى حفص عمر بن الشيخ الامام العالم العلامة الحبر البحر الفهامة المحقق المدقق الرحلة الشهابى شهاب الدين ابى العباس احمد بن الشيخ الامام العالم العلامة الحبر البحر الفهامة المحقق المدقق الرحلة عبدالحق على يد فقير رحمة ربه المهدى زين الكردى غفرالله له׳ و كان الفراغ من نسخها يوم الجمعة حادى عشرين شهر الله المحرم الحرام افتتاح عام ٩٦٣سه الموافق لتاسع كيهك القبطى ١٢٧٢سه الموافق لسادس كانون الاول الرومى ١٨٦٧سه الموافق لتاسع اردبهشتماه العبرى ( sic ) ٩٦٥سه الخ . It is followed (foll. 277v.-278) by a short treatise of SUYÛṬÎ, on the grammatical construction of the words of the Prophet, سبحان الله زنة عرشة و رضى نفسه و عدد خلقه و مداد كلماته . It is entitled: رفع السنة فى نصب الزنة . Cf. Ḥ Kh. iii. 474. Begins:  الحمد لله الذى لا تاخذه سِنة ... و بعد فقد كثر السؤال عن وجه النصب فى قوله صلعم سبحان الخ Written by the same hand. The author is not known. Size 81/2 in. by 5 in.; foll. 34. Twenty-three lines in a page. A Commentary (ممزوج ) on Abu’l-Ḳâsim Maḥmûd b. ‘Omar Zamakhsharî’s (d. A.H. 538) رسالة التصرفات , or treatise on Particles and the Inflection of Nouns , by MUḤAMMAD ‘IṢMAT ALLAH b. Maḥmûd Ni’mat Allah BUKHÂRÎ, who wrote it A.H. 945. As the author states himself, the treatise commented on is only a portion of Zamakhsharî’s المقدّمة , i.e. مقدّمة الادب ; and it comprises Parts ( قسم ) III. and IV. of this work. See regarding the latter, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kashf_al-Zunun">Ḥ. Kh.</a> vi. 76; Cat. Bodl. ii. 186; Fleischer, Cat. Lips 332; etc. The first three parts of it have been edited by Dr. Wetzstein (Samachscharii Lexicon Arabicum Persicum, etc., Lips 1850, autographed). The preface begins: حمدا لمن فتح ابواب العلوم على اولى الالباب الخ and the author concludes as follows: تم ما قصدت جمعه فى هذا الكتاب .... رحم الله لمن دعا لمؤلّفه الفقير الراجى الی رحمة الله البارى محمد عصمة الله محمود ابن 1 نعمة الله البخارى اسكنهما الله جوار رحمته و البسهما لباس مغفرته انه قدير باجابة دعاء الفقير فى وقت الظهر من يوم الاحد العاشر للصفر سنة خمس و اربعين و تسعمائة من الهجرة الخ This MS. appears to have been transcribed from the author's own copy. It is neatly written in Nasta’lîḳ, and has corrections and notes by the author on the margin; the latter conclude invariably with منه عفى عنه , only the first note has منه مدّ ظلّه instead.
