Four additional fossil lucanids preserved in mid-Cretaceous Kachin amber from northern Myanmar are here reported. All of these species are included in the primitive subfamily&nbsp;Aesalinae, and have been identified as:&nbsp;<em>Protonicagus&nbsp;mandibularis</em>&nbsp;<strong>sp. nov.</strong>&nbsp;(tribe&nbsp;Nicagini);&nbsp;<em>Cretognathus&nbsp;minutissimus</em>&nbsp;<strong>gen. et sp. nov.</strong>&nbsp;(tribe&nbsp;Ceratognathini);&nbsp;Ceratognathini&nbsp;gen. et sp. indet. 1 (provisional assignment); and&nbsp;Ceratognathini&nbsp;gen. et sp. indet. 2 (provisional assignment). Except for&nbsp;<em>Protonicagus&nbsp;mandibularis</em>&nbsp;<strong>sp. nov.</strong>, the stag beetles appear to be connected to the continent of Gondwana, as with the Kachin amber paleofauna. More interestingly, these species have significantly smaller bodies than the extant species, with three of them measuring less than 3 mm, which makes them the smallest known species of&nbsp;Lucanidae. This finding is congruent with a trend toward miniaturization in several unrelated lineages of Kachin amber beetles, and it shows hidden paleodiversity of stag beetles during the Cretaceous.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Key Words</strong></p> <p>Aesalinae, Burmese amber, Cenomanian, Ceratognathini, fossil, Mesozoic, Nicagini, Scarabaeoidea</p>

Nothapodytes burmanica (Icacinaceae), a new species from Kachin State, Myanmar

<p><a><em>Nothapodytes burmanica</em></a> Y.H.Tan &amp; S.K.Shen, sp. nov. (Icacinaceae) from Kachin State, Myanmar is described and illustrated. It belongs to <a><em>Nothapodytes</em> </a>due to the <a>lor</a>ate hairy petals being connate at the base and a fleshy foliaceous disk divided into 5 leaflike lobes. Morphological and phylogenetic evidence indicates that it is close to <a><em>N. </em></a><a><em>pittosporoides</em></a>. Morphologically, both species<a> have </a><a>oblanceolate or oblong</a> leaf blades that are adaxially sparsely pubescent, but the new species is distinguished by its leaf base usually being oblique, and the paniculate inflorescence that has more numerous but smaller flowers with shorter petals. Phylogenetic results indicate that <em>Nothapodytes burmanica</em> is deeply nested within the genus and forms a sister group of <em>N. pittosporoides</em>.</p>

Confocal and micro-CT data of Eucinetus spp. from Kachin amber

<div>This dataset contains the raw confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) slices and X-ray microtomography (micro-CT) slices for the holotypes of <em>Eucinetus debilispinus</em> (NIGP203939), <em>Eucinetus panghongae</em> (NIGP203940) and <em>Eucinetus zhenhuai</em> (NIGP203941). This dataset is associated with the publication "Three new species of the extant genus <em>Eucinetus</em> from mid-Cretaceous amber of northern Myanmar (Coleoptera: Eucinetidae)" (DOI:10.11646/zootaxa.5492.2.4).</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Confocal images were obtained with a Zeiss LSM710 confocal laser scanning microscope, using the 488 nm Argon laser excitation line. The original CZI files are provided, which could be opened by the ZEISS ZEN software.</div> <div>&nbsp;</div> <div>Micro-CT data were obtained with a Zeiss Xradia 520 Versa 3D X-ray microscope.
