Daily surface all-wave net radiation over global land (2018-2019) from AVHRR data
<p>Surface net radiation, representing surface radiation energy balance, is closely related to several land processes, such as evapotranspiration, photosynthesis, and turbulent and conductive heat fluxes. Reanalysis products can provide a long-term surface net radiation; however, their coarse spatial resolution and large uncertainties hinder us from well applicating the data at a regional scale. Satellite products also include surface net radiation retrievals with high accuracy. The short time span of satellite products (i.e., GLASS product) makes these satellite products not suitable for long-term climate change study. Therefore, we used a deep learning method to upscale in situ measurements collected from global-distributed sites to generate a daily surface net radiation product with 0.05° spatial resolution from AVHRR data (2018-2019). </p> <p>After comprehensive validation, the RMSE of AVHRR net radiation product was ~26 Wm<sup>-2</sup>, which is generally better than some current reanalysis and satellite products.</p>

Data for Near-Surface Characterization Using Classified Vehicle-Induced Surface Waves from DAS
<p>In this study, we characterize surface waves generated by vehicles of varying sizes and speeds to provide insights into accurate and efficient near-surface imaging using vehicle-induced DAS data. We employ a specialized Kalman filter algorithm to track vehicle locations and classify them into lightweight, midweight, and heavyweight based on the maximum amplitudes of quasi-static DAS records. Vehicles are also classified by their traveling speed (slow, medium, and fast) using their arrival times at DAS channels. Virtual shot gathers for the same class of vehicles are constructed from their surface wave windows selected using the tracked vehicle trajectories. Free surface evolution from numerical wave tank simulations - Experiment W2N5D5
<p>An ensemble of two-dimensional numerical wave tank (NWT) simulations of breaking and non-breaking wave packets. The NWT uses the Gerris software package, a two-phase Navier-Stokes solver that utilises the volume-of-fluid method and explicitly models viscosity and surface tension effects. It is configured in non-dimensional coordinates scaled by the length and time characteristics of a deep-water wave with wavelength 1 m. This dataset contains simulations from experiment W2N5D5 (wind forcing speed equal to 2 times the wave speed, chirped wave packet with 5 waves in the packet signal, deep water) and forms part of an ensemble of experiments available <a href="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.12797829" target="_blank" rel="noopener">here</a>. High frequency wind recored from sonic anemometers: Impact of swell waves on atmospheric surface turbulence
<p>Wind-wave interaction affects the fluxes of exchange processes across the air-sea wavy interface. For example, several measurements and modelling experiments have suggested that during the swell waves the wind shear and veer may significantly vary (depending on thermal stratification among other environmental factors). This dataset shows interesting wave energy penetration observed from sonic anemometer mounted at an offshore met-mast at 15m height above the mean sea level.
