African cichlids are an exemplary system to study organismal diversity and rapid speciation. Species differ in external morphology including jaw shape and body coloration, but also differ in sensory systems including vision. All cichlids have 7 cone opsin genes with species differing broadly in which opsins are expressed. The differential opsin expression results in closely related species with substantial differences in spectral sensitivity of their photoreceptors. In this work, we take a first step in determining the genetic basis of opsin expression in cichlids. Using a second generation cross between 2 species with different opsin expression patterns, we make a conservative estimate that short wavelength opsin expression is regulated by a few loci. Genetic mapping in 96 F2 hybrids provides clear evidence of a cis-regulatory region for SWS1 opsin that explains 34% of the variation in expression between the 2 species. Additionally, in situ hybridization has shown that SWS1 and SWS2B opsins are coexpressed in individual single cones in the retinas of F2 progeny. Results from this work will contribute to a better understanding of the genetic architecture underlying opsin expression. This knowledge will help answer long-standing questions about the evolutionary processes fundamental to opsin expression variation and how this contributes to adaptive cichlid divergence.

Multi-Wavelength Biometric Aquisition System (MWBAS)
<p>The dataset includes sample images recorded from Mutli-Wavelength Biometric Acquisition System from five (5) persons. For each person we provide raw data and processed. The raw data include images as obtained from the camera. The names of files in this mode correspond to the timing of acquisitions (in seconds). The processed data are the images extracted from the raw data where the diodes configuration is provided additional in the names (e.g., D02 is NIR diode no. 2, DEXT is external illumination diode). These are sample data for the publication that will be under consideration in MDPI Sensors soon. The link to the original paper describing the system will be provided after successful publication.</p>
A multi-wavelength study of Galactic H II regions with extended emission (Appendix - Figures)
<p><strong>Regarding figures showing radio continuum and moment-0 maps: </strong>uGMRT radio continuum and GLOSTAR-D moment-0 maps of individual H II regions overlaid with the radio contours from the GLOSTAR-D continuum maps in black. The contours have started at the 3sigma-level flux and have increased in steps of sqrt(3) (G20.99), 2 (G22.76), sqrt(3) (G24.47), sqrt(3) (G25.69), 2 (G27.49), sqrt(3) (G28.30), and sqrt(3) (G28.81), respectively. The coordinates reported in the THOR radio continuum catalog are shown using the green/black '+' signs, while the locations of the UC cores (from the GLOSTAR-B and CORNISH surveys) are shown using the blue '*' signs. The respective beam sizes are shown at the bottom-left/bottom-right corners of the figures.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Regarding figures showing peak velocities from GLOSTAR-D RRLs: </strong>RRL peak velocity distribution maps from the GLOSTAR-D data overlaid with the GLOSTAR-D radio continuum contours in black.
