Video for "Outlining of the Open Digital Twin Platform"

<p>Complex simulations and machine-learning models increase in application in research, industry, and governance. However, applying these systems with reasonable accuracy and efficiency requires large-scale efforts of data collection, data transformation, data analysis, and data visualization. At the same time, maintaining the required infrastructure, software, and personnel skyrockets making these tools unavailable to many potential users. The paradigm of the digital twin offers a novel perspective on how to manage the data efficiently and make these systems available more steadily at a lower cost. We introduce the first prototype of the Open Digital Twin Platform (ODTP) that is designed to be openly available to all interested parties to enable a common framework and baseline for digital twin based research. ODTP uses containerization, loose coupling, and micro-services to provide dynamically composable digital twins.<br> ODTP also provides tools for licensing resolution, privacy and access control, and reproducibility. In its first iteration presented here, ODTP implements a common mobility research pipeline of the eqasim pipeline for MATSim. These kind of programs are usually difficult to assemble and use, thus leading to dangerous versions of ``never change a running system&#39;&#39;. ODTP converts them into an easy-to-use version making it possible to initiate mobility simulations with one click. ODTP enables the quick adding of relevant data sources and analytical pipelines related to any topic and make them easily usable, accessible and shareable to research, industry, and governance. Thus, ODTP expands the FAIR principle from data to the complete data life cycle.</p>

Twin Supersymmetric Dark Matter in Light of the First LZ Results

<p>We review the status of dark matter (DM) candidates in supersymmetric Twin Higgs models in light of the first results of the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) experiment. We found that, for twin bino-dominated DM, the new results strengthened the lower bound on the higgsino mass. However, a large part of the parameter space consistent with natural electroweak symmetry breaking is still allowed. In the case of twin-stau DM, the new results imply that, if the thermal abundance of the twin-stau LSP fits the observed density of DM, the twin stau cannot have a large left-handed component anymore.</p>

Charged Dark Matter in Supersymmetric Twin Higgs models

<p>Supersymmetric Twin Higgs models ameliorate the fine-tuning of the electroweak scale originating from the heavy scalar top partners required by the non-discovery of them at the Large Hadron Collider. If the Lightest Supersymmetric Particle resides in the twin sector, it may play the role of dark matter even if it is charged under twin gauge interactions. We show that the twin stau is a viable candidate for charged dark matter, even if the twin electromagnetic gauge symmetry is unbroken, with thermal relic abundance that naturally matches the observed dark matter abundance. A wide parameter space satisfies all the experimental constraints including those on dark matter self-interactions. Twin stau dark matter can be observed in future direct detection experiments such as LUX-ZEPLIN. The stau has a mass in the range of 300-500 GeV, and in the minimal scenario, has a decay length long enough to be observed as a disappearing track or a long-lived particle at the Large Hadron Collider.</p>

DARTER: Digital twins for Accessible Real Testing grounds for automotive Engineers and Researchers

<p>The DARTER dataset contains a sample (for now) of driving data (camera, LiDAR, IMU, steering wheel angle, etc.) without labels gathered at AstaZero&#39;s test track using the Chalmers ReVeRe lab&#39;s SnowFox test vehicle.&nbsp;DARTER stands for Digital twins for Accessible Real Testing grounds for automotive Engineers and Researchers.&nbsp;This research was possible thanks to the funds of a SAFER pre-study grant.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>About DARTER:</strong></p> <p>Verification and validation (V&amp;V) of Intelligent Transport Solutions and their components in real traffic is difficult (costs, passers-by, etc.) and running tests under all possible conditions (weather, traffic, etc.) is impossible. For these reasons, controlled proving grounds and simulations are being used to safely increase the coverage of V&amp;V.&nbsp;</p> <p>The DARTER project, a SAFER pre-study, addresses two issues connected to these alternatives. On the one hand, the limited access to real proving grounds and their corresponding high-fidelity simulations of academic researchers, key in evaluating the benefits and social and environmental harms that technological advances can pose. Virtual Forest Twins based on Marteloscope point cloud data from different forest ecosystem types and its associated teaching workload

<p>The 8th intellectual output (IO-8) titled "Virtual Forest Twins based on Marteloscope point cloud data from different forest ecosystems type and its associated teaching workload"&nbsp;[of the Erasmus+ project "Virtualization of Forest Studies (Virtual Forests)"] was led by Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) in Eberswalde, Germany. The main objectives of IO-8 were two-fold: (1) the development of an analytical pipeline for the virtualization of real forest stands from selected marteloscope sites into 3D virtual twins, and (2) the preparation of open-access, blended teaching and training materials based on the aforementioned analytical pipeline. Specifically, 3D virtual forest twins were created based on point cloud data derived from UAV-mounted and hand-held terrestrial laser scanning technology, followed by a series of software- and hardware-supported analytical steps, and finally rendered for visualization and presentation. The point cloud data collected represents the first significant product of IO8. All further results and products are compiled into open-source resources for teaching, training and research purposes in higher education and forest science. These include technical guidelines, MSc.-level learning materials available for self-directed study on the project Moodle, and a stand-alone online multimedia tutorial narrated in a published ArcGIS StoryMap. &nbsp;</p>

Half of a twin capital with interlaced geometric ornamentation The presented column capital is one of the seven halves of twin capitals found over the years 1947–1953 by archaeologists during research in the course of reconstructing the eastern wing. of the monastery. The capital is considered to be one of the best examples of Romanesque masonry in Poland. It comes from the first monastic complex in Tyniec. However, researchers do not agree whether the twin capitals were originally located in the church or in the cloisters. The capital has the shape of a truncated pyramid turned upside down. It is decorated with interlaced and geometric ornamentation.
