Haptorian ciliate measurements from discrete water column samples using flow imaging microscopy (FlowCam) from Lakes Fryxell and Hoare, McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica (2007-2020)

This data package consists of particle diameter and biovolume data for haptorian ciliates classified from discrete water column samples collected at various depths in Lake Fryxell and Lake Hoare in the McMurdo Dry Valleys region of Antarctica. Samples were collected and preserved between November 2007 and January 2020 in Lake Fryxell and between November 2007 and March 2008 in Lake Hoare. Samples were collected and analyzed as part of the McMurdo Dry Valleys Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) core limnological sampling. Data were imaged using flow cytometry (FlowCam VS-IV) and imaged particles were classified with statistical image-based software (Visual Spreadsheet, v4.17.14). Diameter and biovolume was generated for each particle using FlowCam’s area-based diameter (ABD) algorithm.

Daily summarized seasonal measurements of discharge, water temperature, and specific conductivity from Harnish Creek Tributary (Relict Channel) at F11, McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica (1996-2020, ongoing)

As part of the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project in the McMurdo Dry Valleys of Antarctica, a systematic sampling program has been undertaken to monitor the glacial meltwater streams in that region. This package contains daily summaries derived from 15-minute measurements of water quality and quantity parameters measured with automatic recording devices on streams in this region. Specifically, this metadata record describes the daily hydrological summaries for the McMurdo Dry Valley's Harnish Creek Tributary (Relict Channel) at F11, located in the Fryxell Basin of Taylor Valley. Measurements commenced during the 1996-97 austral summer and are ongoing. This dataset extends through the first half of the 2019-20 field season.

Spatially Distributed Lake Mendota EXO Multi-Parameter Sonde Measurements 2019-2022

This data was collected over 34 sampling trips during four summers (May-October), 2019-2022. 35 grid boxes were generated over Lake Mendota. Before each sampling effort, sample point locations were randomized within each grid box. Surface measurements were taken with an EXO multi-parameter sonde at a subset of the 35 grid boxes throughout Lake Mendota during each sampling trip. Measurements include temperature, conductivity, chlorophyll, phycocyanin, turbidity, dissolved organic material, ODO, pH, and pressure.

Mobile temperature measurements and surrounding canopy characteristics in downtown Madison, WI, summer 2023

This dataset includes temperature and solar radiation measurements collected by a bicycle-mounted mobile sensor. Measurements were collected along four different transects in downtown neighborhoods in Madison, Wisconsin, over the course of five days during the 2023 summer. In addition to the measurements made by the mobile sensor, this dataset includes attributes of surrounding street trees, impervious cover, and overhead canopy cover, within 15 m, 25 m, and 35 m radii of each measurement location.

Snow depth sensor measurement data for Alpine site, 2010 - 2015

Effects of infrared heaters on snow accumulation, snowmelt, and snow–atmosphere energy exchange were examined at Niwot Ridge, Colorado (CO). These .zip data files contains hourly snow depth measurements collected using Judd snow depth sensors for water year 2010-2015 (1 October 2009 – 30 September 2015) at the Alpine site, located just southwest of the Tundra Lab in the Niwot Ridge Long-Term Ecological Research (NWTLTER) project area. The file contains both level 0 and level 1 (see details in “Process Description” below) hourly snow depth data measured in centimeters, and an accompanying metadata file.

Year 2001, 15 minute measurements of stage, water temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and pH in a small headwater stream draining a moderate sized, mixed land use (mainly forest) watershed, Fish Brook, Middleton, MA.

During 2001, continuous measurements, every 15 minutes, were made of stage, water temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and pH in a small headwater stream, Fish Brook, Boxford, MA, draining a moderate sized, mixed land use watershed. Measurements are for part of the ice free season (June – December). Discharge could not be determined due to inadequate rating curve. Several day gaps occur periodically due to removal for recalibration.
