VLA 74-MHz Deep High-Resolution Survey Source Catalog

This table contains some of the results from a 74-MHz survey of a 165 deg<sup>2</sup> region located near the North Galactic Pole (NGP). This survey has an unprecedented combination of both spatial resolution (25" FWHM) and sensitivity (1-sigma as low as 24mJy/beam). The authors detect 949 sources at the 5-sigma level in this region, enough to begin exploring the nature of the 74-MHz source population. In their paper, they present differential source counts, spectral index measurements, and the size distribution as determined from counterparts in the high-resolution FIRST 1.4-GHz survey. They find a trend of steeper spectral indices for the brighter sources. Further, there is a clear correlation between spectral index and median source size, with the flat-spectrum sources being much smaller on average. Ultra-steep spectrum objects (power-law index alpha <= -1.2, where S_nu ~ nu<sup>alpha</sup>) are identified. These sources are excellent candidates for high-redshift radio galaxies. The data used to produce this survey come from observations taken on 1998 March 7 intended to map two normal galaxies at 74 MHz (NGC 4565 and NGC 4631). These two pointings were separated by 6.4 degrees, roughly the radius of the primary beam at 74 MHz, allowing them to be ideally combined to produce a single deep image roughly 17 x 10 degrees in size. The combination of VLA A-configuration resolution (25 arcsec), favorable ionospheric conditions, and pointings in directions near the NGP, where the background temperature is low, produced the deepest observation ever obtained below 100 MHz. The same algorithm that was used in the 1.4-GHz NVSS was used to identify and characterize sources in this 74-MHz survey. The source detection algorithm had a threshold such that sources must have both a peak and integrated flux density level of at least 5 times the local rms noise level. Since the rms noise level varied from 24 mJy/beam to 80 mJy mJy/beam at the chosen field edge, the absolute level of the source-detection threshold of 5-sigma likewise varied over the image. Polar TIMAS H0 High-resolution Level 1 Data

Mass resolved ion energy angle spectra covering nearly the full 4pi solid angle and the energy range 15 eV/q to 33 eV/q. H+, O+, He+ and He++ number fluxes and statistical uncertainties processed by the TIMAS science team. Data acquired with various angular and energy resolutions are combined here. Data Quality and other indicators are provided to allow selection of high resolution data (PA_status(ion)=0 and Energy_status(ion)=0 ) and High Quality data (Quality=0). V_03 corrects this error and has been expanded to include calculation of fluxes obtained after December 8, 1998, when TIMAS had a damaging high voltage breakdown that resulted in reduced sensitivity.

High-Resolution Rectified Aerial Photography for Collaborative Research of Environmental Change at Barrow, Alaska, USA, Version 1

This data set includes aerial photography of Barrow, Alaska, which has been geocorrected to a 2002 QuickBird satellite image or Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (IFSAR) imagery. Photography included in the set is from these specific dates, from 1948 to 1997: 4 August 1948, 29 July 1949, 12-14 August 1955, 12-24 August 1962, 14 July 1964, 15 July 1979, 31 August 1984, and 16 July 1997. Data are in GeoTIFF and ESRI Shapefile formats with FGDC compliant metadata. Data on DVD are available for ordering. Note: The data for 14 July 1964 span both DVDs.

ICON Michelson Interferometer for Global High-resolution Thermospheric Imaging Wind Vectors Red

The MIGHTI instrument measures the horizontal wind speed and direction (the wind vector). Each MIGHTI unit measures the wind along its line of sight. MIGHTI uses two perpendicular fields of view nominally pointing 45 degrees and 135 degrees in azimuth from the spacecraft velocity (MIGHTI A and MIGHTI B). Combining data from both units, this 90 degrees separation between their views allows the wind vector to be determined. For the wind measurements MIGHTI observes the Doppler shift of the atomic oxygen red and green lines at 630.0 nm and 557.7 nm wavelength. The wavelength shift is measured using field-widened, temperature compensated Doppler Asymmetric Spatial Heterodyne (DASH) spectrometers, employing low order échelle gratings operating at two different orders for the different atmospheric lines. The temperature measurement is accomplished by a multichannel photometric measurement of the spectral shape of the molecular oxygen A-band around 762 nm wavelength. For each field of view, the signals of the two oxygen lines and the A-band are detected on different regions of a single, cooled, frame transfer charge coupled device (CCD) detector. On-board calibration sources are used to periodically quantify thermal drifts, simultaneously with observing the atmosphere.

MIGHTI samples the O2 A band spectral region at five different wavelengths in order to both measure the shape of the band and to specify a background radiance that is subtracted from the signal. The wavelengths of the filter passbands are selected to maximize the sensitivity to lower thermospheric temperature variations. The temperature measurement is accomplished by a multichannel photometric measurement of the spectral shape of the molecular oxygen A-band around 762 nm wavelength. For each field of view, the signals of the two oxygen lines and the A-band are detected on different regions of a single, cooled, frame transfer charge coupled device (CCD) detector. Two filter channels sample either end of the band to define a background (754.1 nm and 780.1 nm) and three more sample its shape (760.0 nm, 762.8 nm and 765.2 nm). Using three filters that sample the band shape allows the simultaneous retrieval of the atmospheric temperature and common shifts in the center wavelengths of the pass bands due to thermal drifts of the filters. On-board calibration sources are used to periodically quantify thermal drifts, simultaneously with observing the atmosphere.
