Comparison of planar digital radiography and helical standing computed tomography for assessment of condylar stress fracture risk in Thoroughbred racehorses
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Background</strong>: Catastrophic injury has a low incidence but leads to the death of many Thoroughbred racehorses.</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Objectives</strong>: To determine sensitivity, specificity, and reliability for condylar stress fracture risk assessment from fetlock digital radiographs (DR) and standing computed tomography (sCT).</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Study design</strong>: Controlled <em>ex vivo</em> experiment.</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Methods</strong>: A blinded set of thoracic limb fetlock DR and sCT images were prepared from 31 Thoroughbreds. Four observers evaluated the condyles and parasagittal grooves (PSG) of the third metacarpal bone for the extent of dense bone and lucency/fissure and assigned a risk assessment grade for condylar stress fracture. Sensitivity and specificity for detection of subchondral structural changes in the condyles and PSG and for risk assessment for condylar stress fracture were determined by comparison with a reference. Agreement between observers and the reference assessment and reliability between observers were determined. Intra-observer repeatability was also assessed.</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Results</strong>: Sensitivity for detection of structural change was lower than specificity for both imaging methods and all observers. For horses with normal risk, observer assessment often agreed with the reference. Sensitivity for risk assessment was lower than specificity for all observers. For horses with a high risk of injury, observers generally underestimated risk. Diagnostic sensitivity of risk assessment was improved with sCT imaging, particularly for horses with elevated risk of injury. Assessment repeatability and reliability was better with sCT than DR.</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Main limitations</strong>: The <em>ex vivo</em> study design influenced DR image sets.</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Conclusions</strong>: Risk assessment through screening with diagnostic imaging is a promising approach to improve injury prevention in racing Thoroughbreds. Knowledge of sensitivity and specificity of fetlock lesion detection provides the critical guidance needed to improve screening programs for racehorses. We found improved detection of MC3 subchondral structural change and risk assessment for condylar stress fracture with sCT <em>ex vivo</em>.</p>

<p>The data set includes the raw experimental data, processed experimental data, and numerically modeled dependencies in the respective folders:</p><p>The raw experimental data (magnon readout, as measured) are given for all processed signals presented in the respective figures (folders 'Figure2', 'Figure3' and 'Sup Figure1') and used for the ANN training (folder '3x3Sets & AugmentedVisualShapes'). </p><p>The signals presented in the folders '\3x3Sets & AugmentedVisualShapes\3x3SET##' are named following the scheme shown in Fig. 3a. The signals in the folder \3x3Sets & AugmentedVisualShapes\RandomizedShapes' are simulated using the procedure described in the Methods section as "Drawing of randomized visual shapes". The sets of calculated statistical parameters used for the shapes' recognition are in the folder ''\3x3Sets & AugmentedVisualShapes\Parameters'</p><p>The waveforms for the trajectories formed by randomly selected 4, 5, 6, and 7 discrete positions and their statistical parameters are presented in the corresponding folder. </p>

Commodore C64C computer set
The Commodore C64 is one of the most popular designs in the history of computers, produced from 1982 until 1994. Its manufacturer – Commodore Business Machines – established in 1954 in Toronto (then moved to NY), was founded by Jack Tramiel (b. Trzmiel) – a Polish emigrant of Jewish descent, Holocaust survivor. In line with the standards of the 1980s, the computer was integrated with the keyboard and placed in the same housing. A TV set could be used as the monitor, and the basic medium for data was a special version of a cassette tape recorder. It was also possible to purchase an additional disk drive. The C64 stood out from the competition with its advanced sound capabilities thanks to the integrated circuit – SID. This option was wide-used by the authors of computer games and musicians. PowerBook 180 laptop computer
The PowerBook 180 laptop is a portable computer made by Apple and part of the PowerBook family. The series departs from the Apple products' - Snow White design language. The new design concept was the work of Robert Brunner's team, which replaced the light colours with graphite grey. Not much attention was paid to the appearance of laptops in the 1980s, and they were simple in form, block-like, and heavy. Yet, the PowerBook series of computers offered customers a device installed in a small, compact housing with a clamshell design – solution adopted from the first ever laptop computer – the Grid Compass, designed by Bill Moggridge in 1982. Rounded edges, ergonomic keyboard, centrally place spherical trackball are among those solutions adopted in the PowerBook series which set the standard for the design of modern laptop computers. Functional and structural computed connectivity profiles for pre-defined whole-brain and cortical hull maps
<p>This Repository holds Lead-DBS Lead-Mapper v.2.5.2 computed functional and structural estimated connectivity. The structural dMRI connectivity is computed based on the "HCP1000 6K" connecome and the fMRI connectivity "GSP 1000 Yeo 2011" connectome.</p> <p>Both connectivity metrices were computed using two pre-defined grids:</p> <ol> <li> Cortical hull (1025 points). The grid was estimated based on the <a href="https:/github.com/neuromodulation/py_neuromodulation/blob/main/py_neuromodulation/ConnectivityDecoding/_get_grid_hull.m">SPM cortex_20484 grid</a> and subsampled by every 20th point. The grid is saved as a <a href="(https:/github.com/neuromodulation/py_neuromodulation/blob/main/py_neuromodulation/ConnectivityDecoding/mni_coords_cortical_surface.mat)">.mat file</a> and can be acessed through the main repository .</li> <li>Whole-brain (1236 points). Given the Lead-DBS provided <a href="https://github.com/neuromodulation/py_neuromodulation/blob/main/py_neuromodulation/ConnectivityDecoding/Automated%20Anatomical%20Labeling%203%20(Rolls%202020).nii">AAL3 atlas</a> the whole-brain .nii grid is subsampled by a factor of 150. Reduced Gun Violence Frame Corpus data set for the Text2Story 2024 article: "Evaluating the Ability of Computationally Extracted Narrative Maps to Encode Media Framing"
<p><strong>Title: </strong>Simplified Gun Violence Frame Corpus (GVFC) Subset</p> <p><strong>Description:</strong><br>This data set is a simplified subset of the Gun Violence Frame Corpus (GVFC) from Liu et al. (2019). The original GVFC consists of 1300 news articles in English from multiple U.S. based sources extracted during the year 2018, focusing on media frames commonly used when reporting the issue of Gun Violence. The original data set has 9 types of frames, including both issue-specific and generic frames. Due to high computational costs in our analysis methods, we decreased the data set size from 1300 articles to 131 articles using stratified sampling, maintaining the original distribution of the frame labels. We also manually searched for the original sources of each article based on its headline and added the missing temporal information and news source to the data set, as it was required by our algorithms.</p> <p>To further reduce the complexity of the framing model and account for the smaller data set size, we grouped the original nine frames into three higher-level frames:</p> <p>1. Frame 1: Political Issues - Combining the first, second, and third frames, which focus on political issues mostly related to gun control.<br>2. Frame 2: Public Services - Combining the fourth and fifth frames, which focus on mental healthcare issues, as well as school and public safety.<br>3. Frame 3: Cultural and Societal Issues - Combining the last four frames, which are oriented towards cultural or societal issues, including discussions around race and ethnicity, public opinion, and economic consequences.</p> <p>The resulting simplified data set contains 131 news articles, each labeled with one of the three higher-level frames, along with the necessary temporal information and news source for the narrative extraction process.</p> <p>If you use this data set, please make sure to cite the original GVFC paper and our workshop paper please. </p> <p><strong>References:</strong></p> <ol> <li>Liu et al.
