Fracturing and coloring of cremated bones from a Neolithic mortuary house at Bollbacken, Sweden

Spreadsheet containing analysis of types of fractures and coloring of cremated human and animal bones found in a mortuary house at the site Bollbacken, Västmanland, Sweden. The site belonged to the Pitted Ware culture and was dated to ca 2600-2300 BCE. The analysis was done as part of a PhD project studying cremation practices in 3rd millennium BCE Sweden, particularly evidence of whether the dead had been cremated shortly after death, or when they were de-fleshed.

Version 1_1 contains persistent identifiers for key concepts in the dataset (geographical locations, museum inventory number etc)

Impact of stress regime change on the permeability of a naturally fractured carbonate buildup (Latemar, the Dolomites, northern Italy)_DATASET

The datasets (original field photographs, drone images and finite-element modelling algorithms and results) presented here are drawn from the extensive fieldwork, and finite-element modelling of the impact of stress regime change on the permeability of a naturally fractured carbonate buildup (Latemar, the Dolomites, northern Italy) by the author(s). These datasets show different rock units in the Latemar platform riddled with diverse structural elements, including fractures (veins, joints, faults) and stylolites, and the results of the impact of the modelled far-field stresses at (i) subsidence deformation from the NW–SE and (ii) Alpine deformation from N–S. All of which increased the overall fracture aperture and permeability of the studied carbonate platform.

In addition, the datasets are part of the paper titled "Impact of stress regime change on the permeability of a naturally fractured carbonate buildup (Latemar, the Dolomites, northern Italy)", published in the Solid Earth Journal.

The drone images are taken with DJI Phantom 4® and processed using Agisoft PhotoScan® - a photogrammetry tool. The workflow in processing the drone images is publicly available in the published work of Bisdom et al. (2017).

Data of: 3D Muographic Inversion in the Exploration of Cavities and Low-density Fractured Zones

This is the dataset for "3D Muographic Inversion in the Exploration of Cavities and Low-density Fractured Zones" titled article, submitted to Geophysical Journal International in 2023.

Abstract: Muography is an imaging tool based on the attenuation of cosmic muons for observing density anomalies associated with large objects, such as underground caves or fractured zones. Tomography based on muography measurements, that is, three dimensional reconstruction of density distribution from two dimensional muon flux maps, brings along special challenges. The detector field of view covering must be as balanced as possible, considering the muon flux drop at high zenith angles and the detector placement possibilities. The inversion from directional muon fluxes to a 3D density map is usually underdetermined (more voxels than measurements). Therefore, the solution of the inversion can be unstable due to partial coverage. The instability can be solved by geologically relevant Bayesian constraints. However, the Bayesian principle results in parameter bias and artifacts. In this work, linearized (density-length based) inversion is applied by formulating the constraints associated with inversion to ensure the stability of parameter fitting. After testing the procedure on synthetic examples, an actual high-quality muography measurement data set from 7 positions is used as input for the inversion. The resulting tomographic imaging provides details on the complicated internal structures of karstic fracture zone. The existence of low density zones in the imaged space was verified by samples from core drills, which consist of altered dolomite powder within the intact high density dolomite.
