Paphos Castle - CYPRUS
Paphos Castle is located at the western end of the city port. It was originally a Byzantine fortress built to protect the port. Today, the visitor can see the Western Frankish Tower with the Venetian additions as restored by the Ottomans in 1592, according to a relevant inscription above the entrance of the castle. A white marble slab (dimensions: 150 × 40 cm) above the entrance of the tower refers to its reconstruction in 1592 AD, by the Turkish governor of Cyprus Ahmet Pasha (1589–1593). The main fortress of the city was located in Saranta Kolones, about 600 meters west, and was destroyed by the earthquake of 1222. +Info : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paphos_Castle Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
Climatologies of agriculture related solar products over Cyprus

This dataset presents a detailed 20-year climatology of solar radiation quantities related to agriculture across Cyprus, covering the period from 2004 to 2023. It includes Photosynthetically Active Radiation, plant damage and plant growth, offering a comprehensive view of solar radiation impacts at agricultural products. The data boasts a high temporal resolution of 15 minutes and a fine spatial resolution of 0.05°x0.05°.

The creation of this climatology involved integrates re-analysis data and satellite observations with radiative transfer modeling. This approach allows for a detailed and accurate representation of solar radiation patterns over the island, catering to the needs of researchers and professionals in fields such as climatology, environmental science and agriculture.

This dataset is associated with the upcoming publication: K. Fragkos et al., (2024). "Twenty-Year Climatology of Solar UV and PAR in Cyprus: Integrating Satellite Earth Observations with Radiative Transfer Modeling," submitted to the journal Remote Sensing. The study describes the methodology in detail and discusses the implications of these climatologies.

Climatologies of effective UV doses over Cyprus

This dataset presents a detailed 20-year climatology of solar ultraviolet (UV) radiation across Cyprus, covering the period from 2004 to 2023. It includes effective UV doses relevant for erythemal (sunburn) effects, DNA damage, vitamin D synthesis, offering a comprehensive view of solar radiation impacts. The data boasts a high temporal resolution of 15 minutes and a fine spatial resolution of 0.05°x0.05°.

The creation of this climatology involved integrates re-analysis data and satellite observations with radiative transfer modeling. This approach allows for a detailed and accurate representation of solar radiation patterns over the island, catering to the needs of researchers and professionals in fields such as climatology, environmental science, public health, and agriculture.

This dataset is associated with the upcoming publication: K. Seroprevalence of immunoglobulin G antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 in Cyprus

Four vaccines that have been authorized in the European Union offer different levels of protection against SARS-CoV-2 by generating immune responses against the spike receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the virus. Monitoring the levels of IgG antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 is important during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic to plan an adequate and evidence-based public health response. We compared the levels of serum IgG antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in three groups: i) individuals without evidence of prior infection with SARS-CoV-2 who received one or two doses of either an mRNA-based (Comirnaty BNT162b2/Pfizer-BioNTech or Spikevax mRNA-1273/Moderna) or an adenoviral-based vaccine (Vaxzervia ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 /Oxford-Astra Zeneca) (n=227), ii) unvaccinated individuals with evidence of prior infection with SARS-CoV-2 (n=109), and iii) individuals with evidence of prior infection with SARS-CoV-2 who received at least one dose of a vaccine (n=30). Unvaccinated individuals without evidence of prior infection with SARS-CoV-2 were used as a control group (n=211). Our results indicate that vaccine-induced responses lead to higher levels of IgG antibodies compared to those produced following infection with the virus. In agreement with previous studies, our results suggest that among individuals previously infected with SARS-CoV-2, even a single dose of a vaccine is adequate to elicit high levels of humoral immunity.
