Characterization of different surface materials and their antifouling activity

<p>The long-term performance of five surface materials - glass, perspex, polystyrene, epoxy-coated glass, and a silicone hydrogel coating - in inhibiting biofilm formation by cyanobacteria was evaluated concerning biofilm cell number, wet weight, chlorophyll a content, and biofilm thickness. In order to obtain more insight into the effect of surface properties on biofilm formation, they were characterized concerning their hydrophobicity and roughness.</p>

CafeteriaSA corpus: Scientific abstracts annotated across different food semantic resources

<p>In the last decades, a great amount of work has been done in predictive modeling of issues related to human and environmental health. Resolution of issues related to healthcare is made possible by the existence of several biomedical vocabularies and standards, which play a crucial role in understanding health information, together with a large amount of health-related data. However, despite the large number of available resources and work done in the health and environmental domains, there is a lack of semantic resources that can be utilized in the food and nutrition domain, as well as their interconnections. For this purpose, in an European Food Safety Authority-funded project CAFETERIA, we have developed the first annotated corpus of 500 scientific abstracts that consists of 6,407 annotated food entities with regard to Hansard taxonomy, 4,299 for FoodOn, and 3,623 for SNOMED-CT.&nbsp; The CafeteriaSA corpus will enable further development of natural language processing methods for food information extraction from textual data that will allow extracting of food information from scientific textual data.</p>

<p>This dataset comprises the multi-objective optimization results obtained for a new latent energy storage approach based on several phase change materials (PCMs) with different melting temperatures in buildings. The results were obtained for a small office building in eight climate-representative locations according to the ASHRAE 169-2020 climate classification and within the WMO Region VI (Europe).</p> <p>The dataset contains:</p> <p>- The EnergyPlus baseline models employed as a case study for each climate.</p> <p>- The Pareto fronts obtained after the multi-objective optimization in each climate.</p> <p>- The EnergyPlus models for the best designs achieved on the Pareto fronts in terms of annual total load reductions.</p>

Statistical analysis for: Mode I fracture of beech-adhesive bondline at three different temperatures

<p>This dataset collects a raw dataset and a processed dataset derived from the raw dataset. There is a document containing the analytical code for statistical analysis of the processed dataset in .Rmd format and .html format.&nbsp;<br> <br> The study examined&nbsp;some aspects of mechanical performance of solid wood composites. We were interested in certain properties of solid wood composites made using different adhesives with different grain orientations at the bondline, then treated at different temperatures prior to testing.&nbsp;</p> <p>Performance was tested by assessing fracture energy and critical fracture energy, lap shear strength, and compression strength of the composites. Oscillatory compression with different frequencies of 2D, dense, soft particle suspensions

<p>This repository contains 5 datasets of cyclically compressed hydrogel packings inside microfluidic channels, with different oscillation frequencies,&nbsp;observed using a microscope. This repository contains the raw data (images) as well as analyzed data of the particles tracked over time. The data format closely resembles information you might obtain from 2D DEM simulations, and could, therefore, be used to calibrate DEM simulations of the compaction of soft particles.</p> <p>The &quot;Readme.md&quot; file contains more in-depth information about the experimental setup, experiments and data structure.</p>

State level income distributions for net income deciles for the US for historical years (2011-2014) and projections for different SSP scenarios (2015-2100)

<p>This dataset is documented in this manuscript here- https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1748-9326/acf9b8/meta</p> <p>Income distributions are a growing area of interest in the examination of equity impacts brought on by climate change and its responses. We project US state level income distributions using a PCA-based approach, applying a downscaled version of the approach employed by Narayan et al. (2022, in-prep). A state-level dataset had to be synthesized and projected based on existing sources. We apply a PC-based model to our derived state-level dataset, employing projected GINI&rsquo;s from the SSP scenarios. We produce projected income distribution by income decile for three SSPs to year 2100. For the purpose of the projections, we developed a consistent set of tax adjusted net income deciles for all states from 2011 to 2014. Lateral moraine elevation differences along a debris covered moraine

<p>Debris-covered glaciers in the Himalaya play an important role in the high-altitude water cycle.<br> The thickness of the debris layer is a key control of the melt rate of those glaciers, yet little is known about<br> the relative importance of the three potential sources of debris supply: the rockwalls, the glacier bed and the<br> lateral moraines. In this study, we hypothesize that mass movement from the lateral moraines is a significant<br> debris supply to debris-covered glaciers, in particular when the glacier is disconnected from the rockwall due to<br> downwasting. To test this hypothesis, eight high-resolution and highly accurate digital elevation models from the<br> lateral moraines of the debris-covered Lirung Glacier in Nepal are used. These are created using structure from<br> motion (SfM), based on images captured using an unmanned aerial vehicle between May 2013 and April 2018.<br> The analysis shows that mass transport results in an elevation change on the lateral moraines with an average rate<br> of -0.31 +/- 0.26 m/year during this period, partly related to sub-moraine ice melt. There is a higher elevation<br> change rate observed in the monsoon (-0.39 +/- 0.74 m/year) than in the dry season (-0.23 +/- 0.68 m/year).<br> The lower debris aprons of the lateral moraines decrease in elevation at a faster rate during both seasons, probably<br> due to the melt of ice below. The surface lowering rates of the upper gullied moraine, with no ice core below,<br> translate into an annual increase in debris thickness of 0.08 m/year&nbsp;along a narrow margin of the glacier surface,<br> with an observed absolute thickness of approximately 1 m, reducing melt rates of underlying glacier ice. Further<br> research should focus on how large this negative feedback is in controlling melt and how debris is redistributed<br> on the glacier surface. This dataset contains the elevation differences on the moraine as presented in the van Woerkom et al. (2019).</p>

PERCEIVE WP5: The multiplicity of shared meanings of EU and Cohesion Regional and Urban Policy at different discursive levels

<p>The data set will contain all the shareable data collected and generated through the different tasks of WP5, that are interdependent. In particular, in Task5.1 we collected a bibliography, which is already included in the dataset. In Task5.2 we collected a large collection of data from different documentary sources and media: EU policies and reports, descriptions and reports created by Local Managing Authorities, newspaper articles, tweets, Facebook posts referred to EU CP policies. During Task5.3 we analyzed these data through Mallet software to elicit topics, as sets of words that co-occur together. The results of the linear regression analysis will be in this data set as well. The results of the analysis will consist of tables of texts and of numerical data.</p> <p>Collected data are only partly available online, therefore our generated data will have a unique value, as there is no comparable public source of data. Data will be helpful for all student and practitioners willing to understand how the concepts of Cohesion Policies, Europe and European identity are shaped in the public sphere.</p>

<p>Dataset used in the statistical analysis of the publication "Sex differences in the impact of social relationships on individual vocal signatures in grey mouse lemurs (<em>Microcebus murinus</em>)"</p> <p><strong>Abstract</strong></p> <p>Vocali<span>z</span>ations coordinate social interactions between conspecifics by conveying information concerning the individual or group identity of the sender. Social accommodation is a form of vocal learning where social affinity is signalled by converging or diverging vocali<span>z</span>ations to those of conspecifics. To investigate whether social accommodation is linked to the social lifestyle of the sender, we investigated sex-specific differences in social accommodation in a dispersed living primate, the grey mouse lemur, where females form stable sleeping groups whereas males live solitarily. We used 482 trill calls of 36 individuals from our captive breeding colony to compare acoustic dissimilarity between individuals with genetic relatedness, social contact time and body weight. Our results showed that female trills become more similar the more time females spen<span>d</span> with each other independent of genetic relationship, suggesting vocal convergence. In contrast, male trills were affected more by genetic than social factors. However, focus<span>s</span>ing only on sociali<span>z</span>ed males, male trills diverged from each other the more time males were cage partners.
