Redistribution of the shapefile of the digital soil map of the Flemish Region (status 2017-06-20)

<p>This is a redistribution of the shapefile of the&nbsp;&#39;<a href="https://www.dov.vlaanderen.be/geonetwork/srv/dut/catalog.search#/metadata/5c129f2d-4498-4bc3-8860-01cb2d513f8f">Digitale bodemkaart van het Vlaams Gewest: bodemtypes, substraten, fasen en varianten van het moedermateriaal en de profielontwikkeling</a>&#39; (digital soil map of the Flemish Region: soil types, substrates, phases, variants of the parent&nbsp;material, and profile development), originally published by &#39;Databank Ondergrond Vlaanderen&rsquo; (Subsurface Database of Flemish Region, DOV)&nbsp;under a CC-BY compatible license. Its shapefile has been&nbsp;redistributed as the <code>soilmap</code> data source, used in reproducible, analytical workflows on Flemish Natura 2000 habitats and regionally important biotopes. These workflows rely on a stable, clean (datafile-only) and uniform representation of each data source version, represented by a Zenodo DOI.</p> <p>The Belgian soil map was drawn up by intensive soil mapping from the 1950s to 1970s (Dudal et al., 2005). The map is based on the Belgian soil classification system. It is a national system that was set up exclusively for Belgian soils. The digital soil map of the Flemish Region is documented by Van Ranst &amp; Sys (2000). Each spatial polygon, accurately digitized from the soil map sheets (published at map scale 1:20000) at scale 1:5000, includes information on soil types, substrates, phases, variants of the parent material and profile development. If available, the general characteristics and photos of a representative soil profile and environment can be obtained for each soil type. Finally, for each location it is possible to call in a scan of the analog soil map sheet, the corresponding explanation booklet and the basic maps on a 1: 5000 scale. The digital soil map was updated in 2017 with information from several military domains, a uniform soil type was generated for the polder area, and several mistakes were corrected.</p> <p>The data source is owned by &lsquo;Vlaams Planbureau voor Omgeving&rsquo; (Flemish Planning Bureau for Environment, Department of Environment of the Flemish government).</p>

Digital Inventory of the Wooden Neighborhood of Raksila in Oulu, FInland

<p>The material concerns the investigation made on the case study of Raksila, wooden historic neighborhood in Oulu, Finland.</p> <p>For each building it has been elaborated a census card by fixing the information on a sketch book, the analysis has included several specific aspects: dates of construction, function, materials used for the facades, structure, colours of the facades, typologies of frames and analysis of the open areas. For the analysis of Raksila two different types of card have been designed: one type for the residential buildings and another one (more simplified) for the description of the services located around the neighbourhood.</p> <p>The recognition on field represent a fundamental part in the elaboration of the census card, the operator needs to make an appreciation of the main aspects by producing lists of different typologies connected to a same category, i.e. elaborate different lists of values. Categories and list of values represent the main elements in the formulation of the census card. When the analysis is finished the entire categories analysed with the related lists need to be transfer to a digital card by using FileMaker software. This programme gives the possibility to create detailed digital databases by including specific data sets. After the recognition phase and the elaboration of the card in digital form, the operator can start the acquisition of the information on field. Each building is identified with a specific code that can be elaborated by the operator or, as in this case, by using the existing codification system (for the analysis of the buildings in Raksila it has been used the same codification elaborated by the Municipality of Oulu in order to deliver to them an updated material easily consulted).</p> <p>When the acquisition of the information is finished the result is a digital archive which can be navigated and used for different types of purposes. Moreover, the software gives the possibility to recover all those cards, which have the same information or group of information. In the final part, they have been then put in mutual dialogue through the support of a 3D model realized on the base of the laser scanner.</p> <p>This step produced thematic maps and interesting consideration for the understanding of the place with its intrinsic dynamics.</p>

List of Digital Resources for Medieval Studies in German-speaking Countries

<p>The Middle Ages have been brought into the digital era through the extensive digitisation of medieval source material, transforming the scope and breath of medieval studies. The field has long embraced digital methodologies, with medievalists praised as early adopters since the 1940s. German-speaking countries have brought forward innovative projects ranging from digital editions, interactive maps, to comprehensive databases and computational analysis.</p> <p>The following pages present a curated list of 164 digital resources and repositories for medieval studies that are initiated or located in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The list is not comprehensive and ongoing. It was made to aid scholars in navigating the dynamic landscape of digital medieval studies, promoting collaboration and providing insight into the field's development. The selected projects are supportive resources dealing with the Middle Ages (up to 1500) and have a clear research goal. It covers diverse topics like numerology, heraldry, monastic life, and architecture. Most of the listed digital resources are freely accessible.</p> <p>The projects are classified by their <em>digital methods</em>, as described in more detail on a separate page. The <em>descriptors</em> and <em>types</em> used to describe the projects distinctly highlight the interdisciplinary nature of medieval studies in the digital age. This list emphasises the transformative potential of digital resources, offering a starting point for continued exploration and expansion in the evolving landscape of digital medieval studies.</p> <p><br>This repository is created within the sub project <a href="https://www.virtuelle-lebenswelten.de/forschung/wissen" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener">B02 <em>Virtuelles Mittelalter</em></a>, curated by Juliet Diekk&auml;mper with the help of Suzette van Haaren. Dataset for DoS and DDoS Attacks on Digital Meter SICAM via GOOSE Protocol Flooding

<p>This dataset presents network traffic data from simulated Denial of Service (DoS) and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks on a Digital Meter SICAM device using the GOOSE protocol. An unauthorized attacker floods the SICAM meter's communication by initially sending 100 GOOSE packets at 1 ms intervals, followed by an intensified attack of 500 GOOSE packets. These actions render the meter unreachable by the legitimate Control Station, disrupting normal operations and data retrieval processes.</p>

<p>This tiff contains a Digital Surface Model (DSM) of the Belham River Valley in Montserrat, Eastern Caribbean. This was generated via leverage of Pleiades tri-stereo imagery throught the DSM-OPT software platform. This DSM has been co-registered to a LiDAR DSM (generated in 2010, vertical error 0.15 m) and found to have a vertical error of 2.3 m.</p>

Global topsoil SOC stock from 1981 to 2018 estimated by combining process-based model and space-for-time digital soil mapping

<p>This dataset include the topsoil (0-30cm) soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks in mineral soils under major land classes (forest, grassland, shrub land, savannas, cropland, cropland/natural vegetation mosaic, and sparely vegetated land) from 1981 to 2018.
