<p>This dataset contains the results of the EU co-funded surveillance activities conducted in 2020, which consisted of:</p> <ul> <li>Serological surveys to monitor the circulation of AIV subtypes H5 and H7 in poultry (active surveillance). These surveys should preferentially target poultry species or production systems with increased risk for introduction of avian influenza (AI).</li> <li>Passive surveillance aiming at the virological detection of AI in wild birds found dead or moribund.</li> </ul>

<p>Third place in the 2021 IAU OAE Astrophotography Contest, category Comets.</p> <p>This beautiful and poetic image taken from Slovakia in July 2020 captures the comet C/2020 F3 (Neowise). The direction of the tails of the comet provides a clue as to the position of the Sun. In the past, the appearance of a comet in the skies could be accompanied by apprehension and even fear from those who did not know what these objects really are. Through careful observations and the applications of knowledge from physics, chemistry and geology, we now understand that comets are objects left over from the earliest days when the Solar System formed. The most distinctive features of a comet are the bluish ion (gas) tail, and whitish dust tail, which can extend for tens of millions of kilometres. These distinctive features, easily observable with the unaided eye together with an understanding of the science, are no longer cause for fear, rather they help us understand the history of our Solar System, and bring awe, joy and contemplation, as portrayed in this image.</p> <p>Credit: Robert Barsa/IAU OAE</p>

<p>This dataset contains AMR monitoring results in animals and food at the isolate level pursuant to Article 9 of Directive 2003/99/EC and to Annex, part B, of Commission implementing Decision (EU) 2020/1729. In addition, the dataset includes any other results from isolates than the ones mentioned in the Commission implementing Decision (EU) 2020/172. The quantitative minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) data from dilution methods are included.</p> <p>Reporting authorities contributing to 2021 AMR data collection: State Veterinary and Food Institute</p>

List of Erinaceidae and Dimylidae from the Late Miocene of Slovakia
<p><span>The families Erinaceidae</span><span> and Dimylidae are represented in the Late Miocene localities of Slovakia (Borský Svätý Jur, Krásno, Pezinok, Šalgovce, Studienka, Triblavina) by at least six hedgehog species ("<em>Schizogalerix</em>" <em>voesendorfensis</em>, <em>Schizogalerix</em> cf. <em>moedlingensis</em>, <em>Lantanotherium</em> <em>sanmigueli</em>, <em>Atelerix</em> cf. <em>depereti</em>, <em>Atelerix</em> aff. <em>depereti</em>, cf. <em>Postpalerinaceus</em> sp., Erinaceinae gen. and sp. indet.) and two dimylid species (<em>Plesiodimylus</em> <em>chantrei</em>, <em>Metacordylodon</em> aff. <em>schlosseri</em>). The material of <em>Lantanotherium</em> <em>sanmigueli</em> from the western Carpathians is investigated, revealing a broad variability in all samples. Additionally, deciduous premolars of <em>Lantanotherium</em> are described for the first time. Erinaceid species are frequent in the Vallesian but their abundance strongly declines afterwards. As an exception, <em>Schizogalerix</em> reentered the Danube and Vienna basins during MN11, likely from eastern Europe. Erinaceinae displays a low diversity during the Late Miocene of central Europe, which tends to support a pan-European diversity phenomenon. The humidity-dependent Dimylidae species are abundant during the late Vallesian. Rare finds of Plesiodimylus confirm the survival of this family into early MN11 in the Pannonian region. </span></p>
