TROPESS Chemical Reanalysis Surface Biomass Burning CO emissions Monthly 2-dimensional Product V1 (TRPSCRECOBM2D) at GES DISC

The TROPESS Chemical Reanalysis Surface Biomass Burning CO emissions Monthly 2-dimensional Product contains carbon monoxide emissions from biomass burning sources. The data are part of the Tropospheric Chemical Reanalysis v2 (TCR-2) for the period 2005-2021. TCR-2 uses JPL's Multi-mOdel Multi-cOnstituent Chemical (MOMO-Chem) data assimilation framework that simultaneously optimizes both concentrations and emissions of multiple species from multiple satellite sensors. The data files are written in the netCDF version 4 file format, and each file contains a year of data at monthly resolution, and a spatial resolution of 1.125 x 1.125 degrees. The principal investigator for the TCR-2 data is Miyazaki, Kazuyuki.

Plant Biomass/Production/Consump. (FIFE)

The focus of this study was to quantify the effects of foliage removal by cattle on plant net primary productivity (NPP). The Vegetation Biomass, Production and Consumption at Selected Sites Data Set contains mean values and their variances. During the growing season of 1987, portable cattle exclosures were used to quantify above-ground plant biomass dynamics at each of four sites. All sites had been grazed each year and burned frequently during the preceding 10 years. Biomass was measured inside portable exclosures, outside exclosures (in unprotected vegetation), and inside permanent exclosures. Exclosures were moved to previously unsampled locations within a distance of 10 m after samples were obtained, and these remained in place until the next sampling date.

CMS: Forest Biomass and Productivity, 1-degree and 5-km, Conterminous US, 2005

Notice: This data set and guide were updated on June 30, 2014 to correct an error in the reported units. The data values were not changed.Spatially-gridded estimates of above ground biomass (AGB), net primary productivity (NPP), and net ecosystem productivity (NEP) are provided for forested areas of the conterminous United States (CONUS). Estimates of uncertainty are also provided for AGB and NEP. These data were derived by using Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) data to constrain forest growth rates in a Carnegie-Ames-Stanford Approach (CASA) carbon-cycle process model. Note that the data set does not include data for forests in the Northern Prairie States region (NPS; see Figure 3). These data provide a detailed estimate of carbon sources and sinks from recent forest disturbance and recovery across regions and forest types of the US.The data are presented as a series of ten NetCDF v4 (*.nc4) files at two spatial scales (1-degree and 5-km spatial resolution) for the nominal year of 2005.

Latitudinal variations in leaf bacterial functions majorly affect the biomass production of a submerged macrophytes

Although microbial biogeography has been extensively explored in free-living communities, our understanding of the large-scale latitudinal diversity patterns of host-associated bacteria remained limited in freshwater ecosystems. To fill this knowledge gap, we conducted a field survey spanning a 2,800 km transect along a latitudinal gradient and explored the composition and structure of bacterial communities on the surfaces of Myriophyllum spicatum.

Database on biomass trade, production, demand, biodiversity proxies - CLEVER (D3.1)

The database on biomass trade, production, demand, biodiversity proxies will be used in CLEVER future work to quantify the causal impacts of non-food biomass trade on biodiversity threat proxies through ex-post econometric assessments. More specifically, these data will allow us to estimate trader stickiness and trade substitution elasticities for selected products, evaluate biodiversity threats related to trade of non-food biomass from land, and assess biodiversity risks related to trade of biomass from sea.

This database will be used as input to the empirical studies on how policy instruments and governance regimes moderate the impacts of land use and land cover change (LULCC), thus identifying leverage points for more effective biodiversity governance. To provide empirical estimates of critical parameters determining potential effects of trade, we use data from both various trading partners and several other publicly available data sources. Data were collected with the focus on the case studies proposed in CLEVER both in terms of countries and supply chains/sectors.

IB-AGC: Annual 25 km global live biomass carbon product from SMOS L-band passive microwave vegetation optical depth

The IB AGC dataset provides global aboveground biomass carbon (AGC) estimates for 2010-2020, derived from SMOS-IC L-band vegetation optical depth (L-VOD) using improved calibration methods and corrections for vegetation water effects. The accuracy assessments revealed that the IB L-VOD-derived AGC shows a very good spatial and temporal consistency with national forest inventory data and forest disturbance events, when compared to other mainstream satellite products. The dataset is stored in netCDF4 format and projected on the global cylindrical Equal-Area Scalable Earth Grid version 2.0 (EASE-Grid 2.0), with dimensions of 584 by 1388 and a grid resolution of 25 km. It includes eight layers, featuring the AGC density map and its associated uncertainty layer, representing the standard error of calibration. Additionally, a sub-product of total biomass carbon (BC) density is provided, calculated using a ratio method. The associated uncertainty, derived via error propagation, accounts for calibration errors in AGC and the AGC-to-BGC ratio.
