Plant functional traits and corresponding satellite multispectral data for two sites in the Czech Republic

<p>This data set contains measurements of plant functional traits and corresponding satellite multispectral data for two sites in the Czech Republic &ndash; Lanžhot and &Scaron;t&iacute;tn&aacute; throughout multiple campaigns. Plant functional traits were collected from representative trees selected at both study sites. At the Lanžhot site, a total of 16 trees of the following species were sampled: Quercus robur (4 trees), Quercus cerris L. (2 trees), Carpinus betulus (4 trees), Fraxinus angustifolia (4 trees), Tilia cordata (2 trees). At &Scaron;t&iacute;tn&aacute;, a total of 10 Fagus sylvatica trees were sampled. Field campaigns were timed to cover different phenological stages of deciduous tree leaf development, from fresh leaf emergence, through full leaf development at the peak of the growing season, to autumn leaf senescence. In total, six field campaigns at Lanžhot during 2019 and 2020 and five field campaigns at &Scaron;t&iacute;tn&aacute; during 2020 and 2021 were conducted.</p>

The Network of Correspondents of Jobst Hermann von Ilten (1649-1730)

<p>The dataset contains graph data for the correspondence of the Hanoverian diplomat and politican Jobst Hermann von Ilten (1649-1730) in Gephi Project File format and JSON format. The data is based on von Ilten&#39;s collection of letters, which is part of the papers of his son Thomas Eberhard von Ilten (1685-1758). The original papers are held, digitized and catalogued at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Bibliothek in Hanover (GWLB).</p> <p>The Graph is designed to analyze the network of Jobst Hermann von Ilten and how it changed over time and identify key correspondents. For these purposes only correspondents with ten or more letters were considered. An exceptions with viewer letters were individuals of particular importance to Jobst Hermann von Ilten: his brother-in-law Otto XIII. Grote (1636-1693), the Prussian prime minister Eberhard von Danckelmann (1643-1722) and the Hanoverian General Carl Christian von Sommerfeldt (1650-1712).</p> <p>The Graph was created with Gephi 0.10 using the Fruchterman Reingold algorithm. For nodes intervals were defined based on the year of birth and the year of death of the person they represent. The intervals for the edges representing the correspondence are defined by the first and the last letter from each letter-writer. Intervals for the nodes in the Gephi Project File have not been exported to the JSON file. Intervals for the edges are included in both the Gephi Project File and the JSON file.&nbsp;</p>

Dataset corresponding to the « Reasons for concern » about climate change impacts from all IPCC reports (TAR to AR6)

<p>This data corresponds to all the&nbsp;&quot;burning embers&quot; diagrams for the &quot;Reasons for Concern&quot;&nbsp;published in IPCC reports (and the related paper Smith et al. 2009 for AR4) until AR6 (thus including TAR, AR4, AR5, SR1.5 and AR6).&nbsp;For TAR to SR1.5, the data is the result of extracting&nbsp;information from the original figures, as presented in the related technical document&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3992856">10.5281/zenodo.3992856</a>. As also explained in the&nbsp;Supplementary Information of Zommers et al. (2020), the data does not come directly from the IPCC, although it is based on the assessment provided in the IPCC reports listed in the references. For IPCC AR6,&nbsp;the source is the supplementary material of chapter 16. Details regarding specific values provided in the dataset are explained alongside the values in the main file: &quot;RFCs-ALL-2023_05_12.xlsx&quot;.&nbsp;</p> <p>The main file includes the parameters needed to produce a diagram that supplements figure 3 from Zommers et al. (2020) with AR6 data and&nbsp;the confidence levels from previous reports when available. The Excel files in RFCs-2023-UsageExamples.zip contain the same data with different parameters, so that uploading these files to the Ember Factory (<a href="https://climrisk.org/emberfactory">https://climrisk.org/emberfactory</a>) produces different figures - including a comparison between AR5 and AR6 (as in&nbsp;IPCC AR6 Synthesis Report, but with AR5 confidence levels included). The resulting diagrams are also provided.</p>

Data from: Epidemic and endemic pathogen dynamics correspond to distinct host population microbiomes at a landscape scale

Infectious diseases have serious impacts on human and wildlife populations, but the effects of a disease can vary, even among individuals or populations of the same host species. Identifying the reasons for this variation is key to understanding disease dynamics and mitigating infectious disease impacts, but disentangling cause and correlation during natural outbreaks is extremely challenging. This study aims to understand associations between symbiotic bacterial communities and an infectious disease, and examines multiple host populations before or after pathogen invasion to infer likely causal links. The results show that symbiotic bacteria are linked to fundamentally different outcomes of pathogen infection: host–pathogen coexistence (endemic infection) or host population extirpation (epidemic infection). Diversity and composition of skin-associated bacteria differed between populations of the frog, Rana sierrae, that coexist with or were extirpated by the fungal pathogen, Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd). Data from multiple populations sampled before or after pathogen invasion were used to infer cause and effect in the relationship between the fungal pathogen and symbiotic bacteria. Among host populations, variation in the composition of the skin microbiome was most strongly predicted by pathogen infection severity, even in analyses where the outcome of infection did not vary. This result suggests that pathogen infection shapes variation in the skin microbiome across host populations that coexist with or are driven to extirpation by the pathogen. By contrast, microbiome richness was largely unaffected by pathogen infection intensity, but was strongly predicted by geographical region of the host population, indicating the importance of environmental or host genetic factors in shaping microbiome richness. Thus, while both richness and composition of the microbiome differed between endemic and epidemic host populations, the underlying causes are most likely different: pathogen infection appears to shape microbiome composition, while microbiome richness was less sensitive to pathogen-induced disturbance. Because higher richness was correlated with host persistence in the presence of Bd, and richness appeared relatively stable to Bd infection, microbiome richness may contribute to disease resistance, although the latter remains to be directly tested.

Correspondence table between UNFCCC CRF and EXIOBASE industry sectors

<p>This repository contains a correspondence table (CT) that maps the UNFCCC Common Reporting Format (CRF) to the EXIOBASE v3 industry classification. The CT was compiled for our study on "Estimating the uncertainty of the greenhouse gas emission accounts<br>in Global Multi-Regional Input-Output analysis" submitted to the Journal of Earth System Science Data (ESSD): <a href="https://essd.copernicus.org/preprints/essd-2023-473/">https://essd.copernicus.org/preprints/essd-2023-473/</a></p> <p>In the UNFCCC CRF (2019 revision) emission sources are grouped in <strong>categories</strong> and <strong>classifications</strong>, in a hierarchical order. The highest ranked categories - also called sectors - are 1) Energy, 2) Industrial Processes and Product Use, 3) Agriculture, 4) Land use, land-use change, and forestry (LULUCF), 5) Waste and 6) Other. Those sectors are further broken down into sub-categories, e.g. 1.A.1.a.i. The sub-categories of the sectors Energy, Agriculture and LULUCF are further broken down by the classification. The classification distinguishes different fuel types (in case of emission from "Energy') and animal types (in case of emissions from "Agriculture"). Like the categories, the classification also follows a hierarchical structure.</p> <p>Parties report their emissions to the UNFCCC at different levels of resolution depending on national characteristics and data availability.&nbsp;</p> <p>Here, we provide two tables:&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li><a href="../api/records/10046372/draft/files/correspondence_CRFdetailed_to_EXIOBASE_root.xlsx/content">correspondence_CRFdetailed_to_EXIOBASE_root.xlsx</a>: Lists the correspondences only for the most detailed level (with regard to both category and classfication).</li> <li><a href="../api/records/10046372/draft/files/correspondence_CRFdetailed_to_EXIOBASE_coherent.xlsx/content">correspondence_CRFdetailed_to_EXIOBASE_coherent.xlsx</a>: List the correspondences for all levels (automatically compiled from the 'root' table).</li> </ul> <p><strong>Collaboration in checking, revising and refining the correspondence table is appreciated. Spatial partitioning of terrestrial precipitation and corresponding dataset agreement

<p>The study of the water cycle at planetary scale is crucial for our understanding of large-scale climatic processes. However, very little is known about how terrestrial precipitation is distributed across different environments. In this study, we address this gap by employing a 17-dataset ensemble to provide, for the first time, precipitation estimates over a suite of land cover types, biomes, elevation zones, and precipitation intensity classes. We estimate annual terrestrial precipitation at approximately 114,000 &plusmn; 9,400 km3, with about 70% falling over tropical, subtropical and temperate regions. Our results highlight substantial inconsistencies, mainly, over the arid and the mountainous areas. To quantify the overall discrepancies, we utilize the concept of dataset agreement and then explore the pairwise relationships among the datasets in terms of "genealogy", concurrency, and distance. The resulting uncertainty-based partitioning demonstrates how precipitation is distributed over a wide range of environments and improves our understanding on how their conditions influence observational fidelity.</p>
