<p>This repository contains the model and scripts to reproduce the results presented in &quot;Glacier surges controlled by the close interplay between subglacial friction and drainage&quot; and submitted to the Journal of Geophysical Research - Earth Surface. It provides the running model files associated with each result figure of the manuscript as well as the Python script to generate them from the simulation output. <p>In this work, we employ MESA code to diagnose whether the dynamical friction between dark matter and the companion stars can drive BH binaries to evolve toward the observed BH LMXBs and alleviate the effective temperature problem. Assuming that there exists a density spike of dark matter around BH, the dynamical friction can produce an efficient angular momentum loss, driving BH binaries with an intermediate-mass companion star to evolve into BH LMXBs for a spike index higher than $\gamma = 1.58$.</p> <p>MESA version: r12115; SDK compiler: mesasdk-x86_64-linux-20190830</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>This contains GNSS and InSAR data used in the publication &quot;Constraints on the geometry and frictional properties of the Main Himalayan Thrust using co-, post- and interseismic deformation in Nepal&quot;. GNSS data come as separate text files for east and north displacements and errors. Each text file consists of a number of columns. Each file has 40 columns, where the first column is time in decimal years after the Gorkha earthquake and the following columns correspond to each GNSS station. The time series are those obtained after the removal of &quot;non-postseismic&quot; deformation such as linear and sinusoidal terms</p> <p>The InSAR data are in the form of GMT GRD files at 200m resolution. Data are from Sentinel-1a track 19 and are a derived work of Copernicus data, subject to the ESA use and distribution conditions. The name of each GRD file is as follows: t19_{date1}_{date2}_hgt_ramp_200m.grd. Date 1 and date 2 are the dates of the two images used to make each interferogram.</p>

Fast grip force adaptation to friction relies on localized fingerpad strains

<p>Humans can quickly adjust their grip force to a change in friction at the object-skin interface during dexterous manipulation in a precision grip. To perform this adjustment, they rely on the feedback of the mechanoreceptive afferents innervating the fingertip skin. Because these tactile afferents encode information related to skin deformation, the nature of the feedback signaling a change in friction must somehow originate from a difference in the way the skin deforms when manipulating objects of different frictions. To better characterize the origin of the underlying sensory events, we asked human participants to perform a grip-lifting task with a manipulandum equipped with an optical imaging system. This system enabled to monitor fingertip skin strains through transparent plates of glass that had different levels of friction. We observed that, following an unexpected change in friction, participants adapted their grip force within 370ms after contact with the surface. By comparing the deformation patterns when unexpectedly switching from a high to a low friction condition, we found a significant increase in skin deformation inside the contact area arising over 100ms before the motor response, during the loading phase, suggesting that local and partial deformation patterns prior to lift-off are used in the nervous system to adjust the grip force as a function of the frictional condition.</p>
