Medical interview score data from PostCC-OSCE and programs for an extended many-facet IRT model

Objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) are widely used performance assessments for medical and dental students. A common limitation of OSCEs is that the evaluation results depend on the characteristics of raters and the scoring rubric. To overcome this limitation, item response theory (IRT) models such as the many-facet models have been proposed to estimate examinee abilities while accounting for the characteristics of raters and evaluation items in a rubric. However, conventional IRT models have two impractical assumptions: constant rater severity across all evaluation items in a rubric and an equal interval rating scale among evaluation items, which can decrease model fitting and ability measurement accuracy.

To resolve this problem, we propose a new IRT model that relaxes these assumptions. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model by applying it to actual data collected from a medical interview test conducted at Tokyo Medical and Dental University as part of a post-clinical clerkship (PostCC) OSCE. The experimental results showed that the proposed model fit our OSCE data well and measured ability accurately. Furthermore, it provided abundant information on rater and item characteristics that conventional models cannot, helping us to better understand rater and item properties.

This dataset includes the actual score data collected from the above-mentioned medical interview test in a PostCC OSCE, as well as the program for estimating the parameters of the proposed IRT model.

Interview Data: Nativism, Islamophobism and Islamism in the Age of Populism dataset

Interview Data

Nativism, Islamophobism and Islamism in the Age of Populism dataset

Transcripts of 302 interviews conducted with self-identified Muslim youth of migrant origin and native youth with affiliation or sympathy with movements labeled far-right in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Germany.[1] Local researchers conducted the interviews using the same interview guide, including 17 questions. CoHERE Work Package 1 Museum Visitor Survey Interviews

The CoHERE project seeks to identify, understand and valorise European heritages, engaging with their socio-political and cultural significance and their potential for developing communitarian identities. CoHERE addresses an intensifying EU Crisis through a study of relations between identities and representations and performances of history.

The data was produced as part of CoHERE Work Package 1 - Productions and omissions of European heritage. This provides a critical foundation for CoHERE as a whole, interrogating different meanings of heritage, historical constructions and representations of Europe, formative histories for European identities that are neglected or hidden because of political circumstances, and non-official heritage.

The interviews were carried out at selected museums, heritage sites and heritage events across Europe. The interview schedule posed questions about heritage consumption, identity, Europe and their experience of the site/event where the interview took place. Interviews have been transcribed and de-identified.

eCAPE energy crisis interviews

This dataset contains transcripts from 30 semi-structured qualitative interviews, conducted as part of a sub-project to the research project eCAPE (New Energy Consumer Roles and Technologies – Actors, Practices and Equality), running from 2018-2024. eCAPE is financed by the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union´s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program (grant agreement number 786643). The project is led by Professor Kirsten Gram-Hanssen from Department of the Built Environment, Aalborg University.

This sub-project examined how Danish households handled the energy crisis and what changes in their heating and other energy practices the crisis led to. The interviews were conducted in 2022-23 and different types of households were interviewed about their everyday life during the crisis. The interviews were conducted by Kirsten Gram-Hanssen, Line Valdorff Madsen and Line Kryger Aagaard from Department of the Built Environment, Aalborg University. Interviews were transcribed by student assistants. The interviews were coded and analysed in Nvivo by Kirsten Gram-Hanssen, Line Valdorff Madsen and Rikke Skovgaard Nielsen. The recruitment process and interview method are further described in the related peer-reviewed publications.

All names are removed in transcripts and participants’ age, occupation and other personal data have in some cases been altered and in some cases paragraphs have been removed, all to ensure anonymity. Alterations are marked with brackets, where anoymised words or sections are indicated with [anonymised].

Participants received written and oral information on the research purpose and handling of their personal data and gave their written or oral consent to participate. The interviews were conducted in the participants’ homes, except for two telephone interviews and one interview conducted in a language school which the participant attended. Photos were taken during the interviews with participants’ consent, but these photos are not published in the dataset due to the protection of the anonymity of participants. Apart from the interview transcripts this dataset contains the interview guide (Danish and English version).

RRING Global Interviews Dataset (WP3)

The RRING Work Package 3 (WP3) objective was to clarify how Research Funding Organisations (RFOs) and Research Performing Organisations (RPOs) operated within region-specific research and innovation environments. It explored how they navigated the governance and regulatory frameworks for Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), as well as offering their perspectives on the entities responsible for RRI-related policy and action in their locales.

This dataset specifically covers the global interviews research part, which was designed to investigate bottom-up perspectives and experiences of researchers and innovators. The focus here is on collecting data through and from researchers and innovators themselves (i.e. ascertaining bottom-up views). We prioritised how and why research and innovation are supplied from those who are actually supplying it. In doing this, we also paid particular attention to: key RRI-related platforms, spaces and players operating in this region; interactions between different stakeholder types; domain-specific lessons related to Digital (ICT), Energy, Bioeconomy and Waste Management; as well as region-specific insights on what is shaping day-to-day research and innovation practice.

Our sampling focused on the following geographical regions: African states; Arab states; Asian and Pacific states; European and North American States; and Latin American and Caribbean states. Of the 130+ interviews conducted, 29 participants consented to their transcripts being shared publicly

Codebook for the analysis of focus group interview data collected as part of the DETECT project.

This is the codebook created for the analysis of focus group interview data collected as part of the DETECT project. In particular, nine interviews were conducted with primary and secondary school teachers in Finland, Italy, Spain and the UK in order to explore their perceptions of critical digital literacies and how these are manifested in their practices. The interviews were organised and conducted by the researchers in the respective local HEIs between February-June 2020. A total of 7 focus-groups interviews took place with a total number of 39 participating teachers (7 from Finland, 6 from the UK, 9 from Spain and 17 from Italy). The interviews were conducted both face to face (schools in Spain) and online (schools in Finland, Italy and the UK) due to pandemic-related restrictions imposed shortly after the start of the data collection period.

The collected data were read and segmented and all interview excerpts relating to the Critical Digital Literacies framework sub-dimensions were marked and chosen for the analysis. The total number of marked segments was 666 in all nine focus group interviews. To ensure the reliability of the analyses, the researchers translated and collected a representative sample of codings (n=117 out of 666) for each sub-dimensions from each school and these were examined by all researchers in several consensus meetings and the final criteria for each sub-category were constructed together based on those discussions.

This dataset accompanies the intellectual outputs of the DETECT project, including amongst others this report:

Gouseti, A., Bruni, I., Ilomäki, L., Lakkala, M., Mundy, D., Raffaghelli, J., Ranieri, M., Roffi, A., Romero, M. and Romeu, T.
