Wmid-27bdd3 - Medieval suspension weight

A complete lead or lead alloy weight of the Medieval to Post-Medieval period, dating from c. AD 1200 to AD 1800. The weight consists of a globular oval shape, with an integral sub triangular suspension loop at the top of the weight. The loop has a lozenge (diamond shaped) in section. A vertical ridge is present around the midline, probably a remnant from a two piece mould used in the casting process. One side of the weight has a recessed centre with a raised long cross on it, positioned centrally. The other side has a deep groove running vertically. Replica Medieval Wood Clamp

This replica wood clamp is used to hold planks in place during boat building. The earliest known example dates from the late 12th Century with variants having been found in Britain, Scandinavia and Central Europe with usage still documented as late as the 17th century. Mostly constructed with an axe, craftsmen would utilize the natural curves in the grain of the wood as well as knots to increase durability, with beech, oak and dogwood comprising the species used in known examples. Now these clamps are being used by the boat building team at The Sutton Hoo Ships Company to reconstruct the 7th Century Anglo-Saxon Burial ship. The ship is being reconstructed in The Longshed, Woodbridge, Suffolk, UK and is viewable by the public when work is taking place. Medieval Postern Gate (Tower of London)

Processed from 92 photos (taken with a Nikon D5300 and kit lens) on medium in Agisoft Photoscan Professional. Been a while since i scanned something that wasn't sitting on a Turntable. Photos were taken from a raised walkway which encircles the postern. Unfortunately I couldn't do a complete scan (which would have required trespassing). A Plaque overlooking the posetern reads: "This medieval postern gate gave access to the City of London from the east. It is the only known surviving example of a large medieval gate tower in the City wall. The construction of the subway provided the opportunity to excavate and conserve the remains. Three arrow loops in the multi-angular tower commanded the approach. The Postern was also protected by two wooden gates and a portcullis, the groove for which may still be seen The fine quality of the masonry suggests that the postern might have been built from the late 13th century onwards, by the royal masons who were carrying out major modifications to the Tower of London" Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
