Dataset of the study "Think globally, act locally": A glocal approach to old and new literacies for social media skills
<p>This Zenodo item contains the dataset of the study: Manca, S., Bocconi, S., & Gleason, B. (2020). “Think globally, act locally”. A glocal approach to old and new literacies for social media skills. Computers & Education.</p> <p>Abstract</p> <p>Despite the documented number of studies that investigate social media in teaching and learning settings, the topic of social media literacy is still an under-researched area. This study adopts the theoretical lens of New Literacy studies to suggest a combined perspective for investigating social media literacies. This perspective considers both social media skills that are transversal across different social media (global skills) or that pertain to a specific social media platform (local skills). It examines practices that are decontextualized (literacy as something to be acquired) or situated and context-dependent (literacy through participation). To map current research on social media skills, a systematic literature review was conducted. Analysis of 54 publications was carried out following the UNESCO DLGF framework for digital literacy competencies, and also using a critical lens based on four metaphors whereby, for learning purposes, social media are seen as a <em>tool</em>, as a <em>process</em>, as <em>collaboration</em>, and as <em>participation</em>. The results show that most of the studies consider global social media skills, while only a few examine skills sets specific to a particular social media platform. Besides, most of the identified skills concern decontextualized practices, with very few studies emphasizing the importance of fostering situated social media practices. We conclude that there is a need for more expansive theoretical elaboration in the field, and provide a number of recommendations for investigating, understanding, and designing educational curricula and activities that support the development of social media literacy.</p>
A new merged dataset for analyzing clouds, precipitation and atmospheric parameters based on ERA5 reanalysis data and the measurements of TRMM PR and VIRS
<p>This new merged gridded dataset (M-1B01-2A25-GD) contains precipitation, clouds and atmospheric parameters with 0.25° spatial resolution.</p> <p>It is produced by merging TRMM PR and VIRS measurements with the ERA5 reanalysis dataset at the same spatiotemporal resolution between 40° S and 40° N. The near-surface rain rate, profiles of rain rate and precipitation reflectivity factor, visible and infrared signals and atmospheric parameters (temperature, pressure, geopotential height, specific humidity, divergence, vertical velocity and so on) can be obtained in the dataset. The statistical results indicate that the merging and gridding will not dramatically distort the original data and the new dataset can be used to study the characteristics and distribution of the precipitation and clouds systems.</p>

<p>This repository contains the data files used for the analyses presented in the paper. The dataset includes variables of interest for the two main simulations (CONTFREE and CONTNUDGED) for the year 2019. </p> <ul> <li>"totcon" variable represents the integrated contrail cirrus coverage.</li> <li>"rst", respectively "rstcotra", represent the net downward shortwave radiation at the top of the atmosphere for the radiative call with contrails perturbation, respectively without perturbation. The difference between these two variables provides the contrail cirrus net downward shortwave radiation contribution. </li> <li>"rlut", respectively "rlutcotra", represent the net upward longwave radiation at the top of the atmosphere for the radiative call with contrails perturbation, respectively without perturbation. <p>Glacial lake dataset for the paper <strong>"Efficient glacial lake mapping by leveraging deep transfer learning and a new annotated glacial lake dataset" (<a title="Persistent link using digital object identifier" href="https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jhydrol.2025.133072" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jhydrol.2025.133072</a>)</strong></p> <p>The GLID dataset contains a total of 18,367 samples, and the size of each sample is 512*512. Each sample consists of an image and a corresponding label. Four glacial lake types including supraglacial lake, proglacial lake, ice-marginal lake, and unconnected glacial lake are involved. The pixel value of the glacier lake in annotation map is labeled 255 and background is labeled 0.</p> <p>GLID.rar contains the training dataset (16,000 samples), and val.zip contains the validation dataset (2,367 samples).</p> <p>GLID_annotation.zip contains the annotated shapefile of GLID with a CRS of WGS 84.</p> <p>Optical_images_source.xlsx contains the optical images ID/names and acquisition time of each platform (e.g., WV2, LC08, S2B, and GF02) used in GLID.</p> <p>Transferability validation.zip contains the images, labels, and predictions for transferability validation, which is independent of GLID (not used for model training or validation). Simulation dataset for New Insights on the High Reconnection Rate and the Diminishment of Ion Outflow
<p>The dataset contains simulation data used in the paper of "New Insights on the High Reconnection Rate and the Diminishment of Ion Outflow". Data are generated from a particle-in-cell simulation using the VPIC code. Please see the paper for the descriptions of the simulation setup.</p> <p>The fields_moments.gda files in runs.7z are fields and plasma moments data of the simulations presented in the paper. The time step in unit of twci for each simulation is: A1:0.025, A2:0.1, A3:0.25, A4:0.25, A5:0.5, B1:0.1, B2:0.1, B3:0.1, B4:0.025, B5:0.05, C1:0.02, C2:0.02. Each file contains float-type data arrays with a size of (Lx/Δ)×1×(Lz/Δ), corresponding to x-y-z dimensions, respectively. Lx, Lz and Δ for each simulation are presented in the paper. Data can be read by softwares like IDL, python, matlab, etc., using the standard data reading methods.</p> <p>The runs_Hparticle_t_x_z files contain ion particle data for the time step t, for the domain of x=[x-0.03, x+0.03]di, z=[z-0.03,z+0.03]di. The files are IDL save files. To read the data, use restore, file=file in IDL. Each data chunk constitues of the following variables in order: all_vxs, all_vys, all_vzs, ws, all_xs, all_ys. Here all_vxs, all_vys and all_vzs are velocities in unit of light speed (c); all_xs and all_ys are x and z locations in unit of de; ws represents the weight of the particles, so the contribution of a particle to the phase space density needs to multiply by this ws factor (In the paper, ws factors are re-normalized while the relative weights between particles remain the same).</p>

3D Cybertype datasets for: Pheidole klaman sp. N.: A new addition from Ivory Coast to the Afrotropical pulchella species group (Hymenoptera, Formicidae, Myrmicinae)
<p>In this study we update the taxonomy of the <em>Pheidole pulchella</em> species group for the Afrotropical region and we describe the new species <em>P. klaman</em> <strong>sp. nov.</strong> We integrate the new species into the existing taxonomic system by providing an updated identification key for the whole group and updating the known distribution ranges of its members. We provide high quality focus stacking images, along with X–ray micro–CT scanned digital 3D representations, of major and minor worker type specimens. The Cybertype dataset provided in this study consist of the full micro-CT original volumetric datasets (in DICOM format), 3D surface models (in PLY formats), 3D rotation video files (in MP4 format), all stacked digital color images, and all image plates including all important images of 3D models for each species. In addition to the cybertype data at Dryad, we also provide freely accessible 3D surface models of all treated species on Sketchfab (holotype: <a href="https://skfb.ly/o68Qw">https://skfb.ly/o68Qw</a>; paratypes: <a href="https://skfb.ly/o68Qq">https://skfb.ly/o68Qq</a> & <a href="https://skfb.ly/o68Qo">https://skfb.ly/o68Qo</a>).</p>

Dataset on: New finds of naked amoebae in the Black Sea (Ukraine).
<p>Our research identified 12 species of naked amoebae of eight morphotypes in the Black Sea (coastal zone of Zatoka village, Odessa region). In more than half of the samples, Vannella devonica, Vannella aberdonica and Thecamoeba orbis were present. The species Saccamoeba marina, Vexillifera armata, Vannella plurinucleolus, Cochliopodium gulosum, and Stenamoeba sp. were rare and infrequent in our samples. The upper layers of the bottom sediment were inhabited by all 12 species of amoebae; two layers were inhabited by S. marina, V. armata, V. devonica, V. aberdonica, Mayorella gemmifera, T. orbis, Stenamoeba sp., Acanthamoeba griffin; three layers were colonized by V. armata, V. devonica, V. aberdonica, T. orbis, Stenamoeba sp., and A. griffini. All amoebae species and their morphotypes occurred at Black Sea water temperatures of +22 ºС to +26 ºС and salinity of 15.5 ‰ to 17.6 ‰. The species V. simplex and A. griffini, which belong to the fan–shaped and acanthopodial morphotypes, respectively, were collected in samples from the Mediterranean Sea at water temperatures of +29 ºС and salinity of 37.8 ‰. The amoebas identified belong to two classes, seven orders, eight families and eight genera.</p> <p> </p>

Dataset related to the publication "New Technique for Probing the Protecting Character of the Solid Electrolyte Interphase as a Critical but Elusive Property for Pursuing Long Cycle Life Lithium-Ion Batteries"
<p>The formation of a protecting nano-layer, so-called Solid Electrolyte Interphase (SEI), on the negative electrode of Li-ion batteries (LIBs) from product precipitation of the cathodic decomposition of the electrolyte is a blessing since the electrically-insulating nature of this nano-layer protect the electrode surface preventing continuous electrolyte decomposition and enabling the large nominal cell voltage of LIBs, e.g. 3.3 – 3.8 V. Thus, the protecting performance of the nano-layer SEI is essential for LIBs to achieve long cycle life. Unfortunately, evaluation of this critical property of the SEI is not trivial. Herein, a new, cheap and easily-implementable methodology is presented to estimate the protecting quality of the SEI; the redox-mediated enhanced coulometry. The key element of the methodology is the addition of a redox-mediator in the electrolyte during degassing step (after the SEI formation cycle). The redox-mediator leads to an internal self-discharge process that is inversely proportional to the protecting character of the SEI. And the self-discharge process results in an easily-measurable decrease in coulombic efficiency. The influence of vinylene carbonate as electrolyte additive in the resulting SEI is used as case study to showcase the potential of the proposed methodology</p>
