Seasonality of stable isotope composition of atmospheric water input at the southern slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.

The extensive dataset provides detailed information about different precipitation types and their stable isotope analyses of δD and δ18O of weekly precipitation samples along an altitude gradient rising from 950 m to nearly 4,000 m a.s.l. over 2 years.

It provides a broad overview of the main characteristics of water stable isotope compositions of precipitation at the southern slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The data can be used to better characterize groundwater and surface water sources and availability to ecosystems and the people living in the investigated region and provide much-needed information on stable isotope chracteristics of precipitation in equatorial Africa.

The associated publication to this data set is available at Hydological Processes:

Otte, I, Detsch, F, Gütlein, A, Scholl, M, Kiese, R, Appelhans, T, Nauss, T 2017. Udaypur, Vidisha district, Madhya Pradesh. Tank on the eastern hill-slope.

General view of a tank called Bhujariyā talāb, located on the eastern slope of the Udaypur hill (23°53'28.6"N 78°03'53.7"E), looking towards the Sahaba hill. The embankment, lined with large hammer-dressed stones, is dateable to the late-11th or 12th century. There is a stone pillar for measuring water level at the centre.

Monthly and annual climate data averaged from 2011 to 2013 for 79 research plots on the southern slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro - V 1.0

Annual and monthly means of air temperature, air humidity and precipitation averaged between 2011 and 2013 and based on in situ observations, spatial interpolation and/or statistical modelling for 79 research plots along the southern slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

The data set is based on the work of sub-project 1 (Climate Dynamics of the Kilimanjaro Region and Remote Sensing) as part of the DFG research unit 1246 (Kilimanjaro ecosystems under global change). In addition, multi-year rainfall observations from A. Hemp are included (for a detailed description and references, please see the NOTES data file of the data set).

For more information on the sub-project, please visit
http://environmentalinformatics-marburg.de/projects/climate-dynamics-of-the-kilimanjaro-region/

Feel free to contact us via ZENODO or send an e-mail to zenodo@environmentalinformatics-marburg.de

Physical oceanography, biotic and abiotic carbon data in the deep sea on the northern slope of the South China Sea in June 2015

The datasets are used for the study of the effects of mesoscale eddies on biological carbon pumps in deep sea water in the northern South China Sea. Thus the physical oceanography, biotic and abiotic carbon data are included in the datasets.

MGN V RDRS 5 GLOBAL DATA RECORD SLOPE V1.0
This data set contains the Magellan Global Slope Data Record (GSDR). The surface meter-scale slopes are derived by fitting altimeter echoes from the fan-beam altimetry antenna as a function of time to Hagfors' radar backscatter model templates. The data are then re-sampled into sinusoidal, Mercator, and north and south polar stereographic projections at a resolution of about 5x5 kilometers per pixel. Each GSDR image pixel is represented by a 8-bit unsigned integer.
