FIGURE 12 in Bathyconchoeciinae, a new subfamily of deep oceanic planktonic halocyprid Ostracod (Myodocopa, Ostracoda)

FIGURE 12. Comparisons of the male sixth limbs in a selection of Euconchoecia and Bathyconchoecia species: A. Euconchocia chierchiae Discovery Station 8281#17. B. Euconchoecia aff. pacifica Japan Sea Sea. C. Euconchoecia aff. aculeata Peru Current. D. Euconchoecia aff elongata East China Sea. E. Bathyconchoecia n. sp. Southern Ocean 'J'. F. Bathyconchoecia n.sp Atlantic'B'. G. Bathyconchoecia foveolata from Deevey 1968 fig. 12c. H. Bathyconchoecia nodosa from Poulsen 1972, fig. 1i. I. Bathyconchoecia longispinata from Ellis 1987, fig. 2E). Scales are in millimetres. The main differences indicated are: 1. The long subequal terminal setae in Euconchoecia, and compared with the unequal terminal setae in Bathyconchoecia, note in G and I the unusually long dorsal setae; 2. The dorsal seta in the protopodite that is a relict of the exopodite is short in Euconchoecia, but long in Bathyconchoecia; 3. There are one or two ventral setae on the first endopodite segment of Euconchoecia, contrasting with the three or more in Bathyconchoecia. Note the multiple dorsal setae on the penultimate segment in Fig. 10 F.

FIGURE 11 in Bathyconchoeciinae, a new subfamily of deep oceanic planktonic halocyprid Ostracod (Myodocopa, Ostracoda)

FIGURE 11. Comparisons of the fifth limbs in a selection of Euconchoecia, and Bathyconchoecia and Scottoecia species: A. Euconchocia chierchiae from Graves, 2011, fig. 2D. B. Euconchoecia aff. pacifica Japan Sea: C. Euconchoecia omanensis from Graves 2011, fig. 12D. D. Euconchoecia hormuzensis from Graves 2011, fig. 17D. E. Euconchoecia aff. shenghwai East China Sea. F. Scottoecia darcythompsoni from Angel 2012, fig. 7G. G. Bathyconchoecia n. sp. Atlantic 'B' Discovery Station 9541#22. H. Bathyconchoecia hardingi from Deevey 1975 fig. 4a. I. Bathyconchoecia nodosa from Poulsen 1973, fig. 1h. J. Bathyconchoecia longispinata Polarstern MOC10#4net#1. K. Bathyconchoecia sagittarius from Angel 1973, fig. 2k. Scales are in millimetres. 1. Note the endopodites of the Euconchoecia species are two-segmented, while those of the Bathyconchoecia and Scottoecia species are three-segmented (sometimes obscurely); 2. Note that in this species there are numerous dorsal setae on both the first and second endopodite segments, which is probably a generic difference.

Scottoecia darcythompsoni from Angel 2012, fig.7E. F. Bathyconchoecia n. sp. Atlantic 'D'. Scales are in millimetres. The main differences indicated are indicated by the arrows in 4A are 1. the lengths of the a- and b-setae on the first endopodite segment; 2. There are three setae terminal setae in female Euconchoecia and five in Bathyconchoecia and Scottoecia species.
