<p><span><em><span>Translation of heroic figures in literature involves navigating cultural nuances and symbolic interpretations to convey universal virtues across diverse linguistic landscapes. This study explores the role of cultural adaptation and symbolism in enhancing the portrayal of heroic characters through translation. By analyzing a selection of literary works spanning different genres and historical periods, this research aims to elucidate how translators employ extralinguistic tools to capture the essence of heroic virtues while accommodating cultural differences.</span></em></span></p>
Pictish Symbol Stones, Fyvie, Aberdeenshire
Three fragments of early historic/Pictish symbol stones and part of a cross-shaft decorated with knotwork built into the east gable of St Peter's Parish Church, Fyvie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland c.1904 (https://canmore.org.uk/site/19032/fyvie-st-peters-church). The cross-shaft and the right-hand stone are from the site of the Church, but the other fragments comre from elsewhere. The upper fragment was moved from the garden at Rothiebrisbane, but is said to have originally come from the old country road between Rayne and Auchterless (https://canmore.org.uk/site/19102/rothiebrisbane). Rosskeen Pictish Symbol Stone AKA Thief's Stone

It is a sandstone pillar, 6ft x 1ft 6ins square, bearing on the front a 'step' symbol and on the left side what appears to be traces of a crescent symbol with, below, what could be either a pair of pincers or a 'tuning fork' symbol. Clach a' Mheirlich (ONB 1874). Ordnance Survey Name Book (ONB) 1874; J R Allen and J Anderson 1903. Clach a' Mheirlich is as described and illustrated by Allen (1903). Visited by OS (N K B) 23 March 1966. Class I symbol stone.A step is carved on the east face,with a crescent above a pair of pincers on the south face A.Mack 1997 p.118 Pictish Class I symbol stone - seen, badly eroded - little carving was visible. Craigmyle, Aberdeenshire, Pictish symbol stone Measurements: H 2.29m, W1.37m, D 0.61m NJ 6401 0234 Recorded as a symbol stone in the late nineteenth century. Very weathered and the symbols are very faint and signs of slothing of rock surface further destroying symbols.
