Data from: Body odour disgust sensitivity predicts authoritarian attitudes
Authoritarianism has resurfaced as a research topic in political psychology, as it appears relevant to explain current political trends. Authoritarian attitudes have been consistently linked to feelings of disgust, an emotion that is thought to have evolved to protect the organism from contamination. We hypothesized that body odour disgust sensitivity (BODS) might be associated with authoritarianism, as chemo-signalling is a primitive system for regulating interpersonal contact and disease avoidance, which are key features also in authoritarianism. We used well-validated scales for measuring BODS, authoritarianism and related constructs. Across two studies, we found that BODS is positively related to authoritarianism. In a third study, we showed a positive association between BODS scores and support for Donald Trump, who, at the time of data collection, was a presidential candidate with an agenda described as resonating with authoritarian attitudes. Authoritarianism fully explained the positive association between BODS and support for Donald Trump. Our findings highlight body odour disgust as a new and promising domain in political psychology research. Authoritarianism and BODS might be part of the same disease avoidance framework, and our results contribute to the growing evidence that contemporary social attitudes might be rooted in basic sensory functions.

The two tables contain questionnaire data from two different time periods (A: 2016/17 and B: 2020/21). Data from: Some of supporting data for attitude of respondents towards wildlife conservation
<p>The study was conducted between September 2018 and March 2019 to investigate the nature and extent of human-wildlife conflict (HWC) in the surrounding area of Alage College, the Central Rift Valley of Ethiopia and to assess the perception of the local people to wildlife. For data collection, a total of 140 household heads were selected randomly for interviews from nine villages using structured and semi-structured questionnaires. Moreover, focus group discussion, key informant interviews, and personal observation were carried out to obtain additional information. Descriptive statistics, Chi-square test (2 tailed), one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Likert scale statements were used to analyze the data. Based on, 66 (47.1%) of the respondents, households heads, the local people of the area experienced livestock predation leading to HWC. Whereas, (40.7%, n=57) of the respondents perceived both crop damage and livestock predation as a cause of conflict. A total of 932.43 Total Livestock Unit (TLU) of livestock and 218 dogs' losses were reported by households due to predators over the last five years. Thus, the largest numbers of livestock (89.9%) and dogs (100%) attacks was happened due to spotted hyenas. Nearly half of the respondents (49.3%, n = 69) ranked warthogs as the primary crop raiders, while the majority of respondents (82.1%, n = 115) reported maize as a severely damaged cereal crop. More than half, (57.1%, n=80) of respondents used different methods simultaneously to minimize damage caused by wild animals. About half, (48.6%, n=68) of respondents had negative attitude towards wildlife conservation. The level of education and amount of money imposed as a penalty for illegal grazing were affecting the local community's attitudes to wildlife conservation. Using effective methods reduce damage and loss to crop including, improved livestock husbandry, and creating better awareness to the local community could make the locals actor of conservation.</p>
Survey: Trainee attitudes towards scientific writing
<p>During March–April 2021, we used an anonymous Qualtrics survey to ask academic trainees (i.e., graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, hereafter postdocs) currently working at American and Canadian Universities within environmental biology fields about their publication records, career goals, challenges to writing, planning and scheduling writing, writing tracking methods, laboratory group (i.e., peers and advisor) involvement in their writing process, participation in writing accountability groups, demographic information, and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on their feelings towards writing habits and productivity. We were approved for IRB exemption under 45CFR46.104 and no answers could be linked to individuals or geographic locations, thus the survey did not track any personal identifying information.</p>

Homeworking attitudes, intention and managerial responsability
<p>As dependent variables we considered intention to telework in more than 6 months, measured as percentage of work that would be done from home on a 5-point scale (0= never; 1= less than 25%; 2= 26-50%; 3= 51-75%; 4= more than 75%) and intention to telework in more than 6 months, measured as days of work that would be done from home (0= never; 1= less than one day; 2= one to two days; 3= three to four days; 4= five or more days). The statements measuring attitudes toward teleworking were measured on a 7-point Likert scale (1= strongly disagree; 7= strongly agree). Additional items were included in the questionnaire to explore respondents' previous experiences with teleworking before and during the pandemic lockdown. Data were also requested to characterize the respondents. Specifically, questions were asked about their job profile (administrative and service staff or teaching and research staff), age, gender, commitment to the university (full-time or part-time), whether they had managerial responsibilities, years of professional experience overall and at the university where they currently work, and the number of people they live with at home.</p>
