# Palm Beach, NSW This model is concerned with Palm Beach's unique topography, which has been relatively well preserved despite being smothered by countless affluent estates. This exploded axonometric file examines the distribution of vegetation, conservation land, and how the built environment interacts with this based on the best available point cloud data. Developed using CloudCompare and QGIS to colourise, manipulate, and clean the data to its final presentable format. This information should provide a more intimate method for prospective home buyers, environmental conservation committees, and council members to gain a better understanding of the land from a unique perspective. High-Resolution Beach Profile Time Series: Morecambe Bay, 2007-2022
<p><strong>Description:</strong> This dataset provides a comprehensive collection of beach profile measurements for Morecambe Bay, covering a 16-year period from 2007 to 2022. The data was collected and shared by Sefton Council (Sefton MBC), UK, as part of the coastal monitoring programme. Captured biannually during spring and autumn, the data offers valuable insights into the bay's coastal morphology and dynamics.</p> <p><strong>Data Description:</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Beach Transects:</strong> Detailed profiles are provided for various locations along the Morecambe Bay coastline. Station numbers are used to identify each measurement point on a dedicated map (included within the data).</li> <li><strong>Temporal Coverage:</strong> The dataset encompasses measurements conducted biannually, capturing seasonal variations in beach profiles.</li> </ul>
Marine litter abundance and composition on Chilean beaches, registered by the Científicos de la Basura citizen science program
<p>Data set generated by means of citizen science, which contains the abundances of the principal litter items registered on Chilean beaches every four years from 2008 to 2020, as well as in 2021. Specifically, the data set contains the numbers of macrolitter items (> 2.5 cm) counted within 3m x 3m sampling stations positioned within the surveyed beaches, grouped according to different material categories (such as papers, plastics, cigarette butts, among others). The data set also contains the sampling dates, the names and coordinates of the surveyed beaches, the zone and region where they are located, the nearest coastal city or town to each beach, the name of the school or the type of volunteers group that conducted each sampling, the total sum of anthropogenic litter items within each sampling station, and the mean abundance per square meter.</p>

Submitted to Journal of Geophysical Research-Ocean</p> <p>###</p> <p>* The directory Obs includes :</p> <p>(1) Wave bulk parameters, computed as described in the paper for the 7 sensors used in this study (.dat files) : the offshore AWAC and ADCP 600 kHz, the intertidal ADCP2MHz, PT2, PT3, ADV and PT5. For the three ADCP and the ADV, the average velocity measurements within the fixed wave cell of both horizontal components of the current in the ENU frame are provided ("uwcell" and "vwcell"). The field "wdepth" corresponds to the water depth above the seabed (i.e. corrected from sensor's elevation). The fields "fmin" and "fc" are the boundaries for the wave energy frequency spectra integration performed to compute the wave bulk parameters.</p> <p>(2) The vertical velocity profiles of the three components of the current in the ENU frame (u,v,w and hv, which corresponds to the norm of the horizonal current) for the three ADCP, provided in netCDF files in which the coordinate "z" corresponds to the height above the seabed.</p> <p>* The file sensors_loc.dat gathers the coordinates and the elevation above the seabed of each sensor.</p> <p>* The file "SaintTrojan_bathy_topo_ST2021.gr3" corresponds to the grid with the bathymetry used for this study in a format compliant with SCHISM-WWM.</p> <p>* The file "ww3.bnds_SaintTrojan_0.2d_ZWND14m_20210110_20210301_spec.nc" contains wave energy spectra issued from a North Atlantic application of Wavewatch III model that are used to force WWM at the offshore boundary.</p>

Survey results for: Public perceptions of cultural ecosystem services provided by beach nourishment and eelgrass restoration in southern Sweden
<p>Ecosystem-based protection is becoming a viable adaptation option to conventional engineered solutions to rising sea levels and coastal erosion. While the environmental and biological ecosystem services provided by ecosystem-based adaptation measures such as beach nourishment and/or seagrass plantations are being acknowledged and analysed, less attention has been paid to the social or cultural dimensions of these services. This paper builds upon the emerging body of research that explores cultural ecosystem services in coastal areas and how they are perceived by the people who live, work and recreate in these areas. The aim of the paper is to take stock of and understand public and stakeholder perceptions of the cultural ecosystem services that may accrue through eelgrass (<em>Zostera marina</em>) restoration in tandem with beach nourishment in Southern Sweden. The empirical research is based on an online open-ended questionnaire in the coastal municipalities of Båstad, Trelleborg, Ystad and Kristianstad. The results demonstrate that virtually all respondents had noticed a change in the coastline in recent years, mainly that the coastline had retreated. While beach nourishment measures were recognized among respondents to counter the shoreline erosion, there was very little understanding of the role that eelgrass plantations can play in creating biodiversity and benefits for society. Still, most acknowledged the importance of making room for water and biodiversity at the coast, stating how the coastline was valued for primarily health and spiritual reasons. This knowledge will help local, regional, and national decision-makers and regulatory authorities to make evidence-based choices for coastal protection, by complementing the analysis of environmental and physical ecosystem-services with cultural and socio-economic considerations. Nature-based solutions such as eelgrass reintroduction or beach nourishment should be tailored to the values, perspectives, and perceptions of the local communities to help ensure their continued contribution to biodiversity.</p>
Plum Beach Light House1 V1
The Plum Beach Light (Lighthouse), built in 1899is a sparkplug lighthouse in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. The lighthouse was built using pneumatic caisson engineering. A granite base was added in 1922. The light was deactivated in 1941 when the first Jamestown Bridge was built. The light became dilapidated until 1999 when the Friends of Plum Beach Lighthouse received ownership of the lighthouse. The lighthouse is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2003 the Plum Beach Lighthouse's exterior was completely restored and its beacon re-activated soon after; it is now licensed as a Coast Guard Private Aid to Navigation. The Friends of the Plum Beach Lighthouse designed, submitted and introduced an official License Plate to be distributed to any Rhode Island private passenger registration. Sandy beach macroinvertebrates of the Yucatán coast, Mexico
<p><span>This dataset includes the mean abundance of macroinvertebrates of six coastal localities from the Yucatán coast: El Cuyo (21°31'N - 87°40'W), Dzilam (21°23'N - 88°54'W), Telchac (21°20'N - 89°17'W), Progreso (21°17'N - 89°39'W), Sisal (20°10'N - 90°01'W), and Celestún (20°51'N - 90°24'W) surveyed during November 2020, April 2021, and August 2021. At each locality, four sampling sites were selected.</span></p> <p><span>The macrobenthic fauna was collected with a core of 22 cm in diameter, which was inserted between 20 and 25 cm inside the sediment. Six replicated samples in the intertidal and six in the lower supralittoral zones were collected at each beach site. Each sample was sieved using a 0.5 mm mesh and stored in plastic bags with 4% saline formalin. In the laboratory, organisms were separated and classified to the lowest taxonomic level or morphospecies.</span></p>

The local community links infestations of biting midges to neap tides. Hence, this study aimed to determine if larvae found across the beach intertidal area were associated with these infestations and their periodicity. Samples were collected daily over a two-week cycle of a semidiurnal tide range, extending down to 150 m below the mean high tide water level. Interestingly, young individuals were significantly more abundant during spring tides, contrary to the trend observed with adults, which corroborates the reports of the local community.
