The typical upright posture of live, undisturbed rhagidiid mite Troglocheles lanai sp. nov. resting on surface of a cave puddle in the Barôn Litrôn cave, Piedmont: the elongated legs I bearing numerous sensory tarsal rhagidial solenidia are erected into subterranean space and act as antennae; the water surface tension enables the mite to touch water only with tips of tarsi with subterminal oar-like iteral setae and so run around on the surface of a puddle (used with permission of Francesco Tomasinelli, Genova).
