Spectral reflectance data of Mercury's surface collected by the Mercury Atmospheric and Surface Composition Spectrometer (MASCS) instrument during orbital observations of the NASA MESSENGER mission between 2011 and 2015 resampled to a [55399 × 396] tabular data format.

Pre-filtering<br> We used the most recent dataset that had large-scale photometric corrections and thus was almost free from observation geometry effects.<br> However, extreme geometry are still present and are typically associated with high noise and some residual instrumental effects.<br> Based on our empirical tests, we filtered out observations with an emission/incidence angle &ge;80∘.<br> We also calculated the median value per wavelength and per cell grid when constructing the global hyperspectral data cube and filtered out observations falling under the 2nd percentile and above 99.9th percentile to clean some residual geometry effects.<br> With this approach we create an effective noise filter while retaining enough observations to be able to analyse the entirety of the surface of the planet.</p> <p>1. Spectral resmpling<br> Unprocessed MASCS spectra could have 512 or 256 channes, depending on binning.<br> We resampled the data in the spectral dimension to a common wavelength range from 260 nm to 1052 nm with a&nbsp; 4 nm resolution (2 nm spectral sampling), resulting in 396 spectral channels.<br> This approach slightly oversamples the original 4.77 nm spectral resolution and removes some points from the original 200-1050 nm range.<br> The resulting data matrix is expressed in tabular form, with each row representing a single grid cell or pixel on the surface.<br> The elements of each row are the spectral reflectance values from the VIS instrument at 396 (resampled) wavelengths.</p> <p>2. Spatial resmpling<br> The whole dataset of &sim; 5 million spectra is resampled to a planet-wide rectangular grid of 1&times;1deg in the latitudinal band between &plusmn; 80.<br> The cell longitudinal size varies between &sim; 40 km at the equator to a minimum of &sim; 10 km at &plusmn;80∘.<br> Thus, the area spanned by each grid cell depends on the latitude. However, the same is true for the acquisition process, where higher spatial resolution is reached near the equator and lower resolution at the poles.</p>

State level income distributions for net income deciles for the US for historical years (2011-2014) and projections for different SSP scenarios (2015-2100)

<p>This dataset is documented in this manuscript here- https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1748-9326/acf9b8/meta</p> <p>Income distributions are a growing area of interest in the examination of equity impacts brought on by climate change and its responses. We project US state level income distributions using a PCA-based approach, applying a downscaled version of the approach employed by Narayan et al. (2022, in-prep). A state-level dataset had to be synthesized and projected based on existing sources. We apply a PC-based model to our derived state-level dataset, employing projected GINI&rsquo;s from the SSP scenarios. We produce projected income distribution by income decile for three SSPs to year 2100. For the purpose of the projections, we developed a consistent set of tax adjusted net income deciles for all states from 2011 to 2014. Daily water temperature and dissolved oxygen data in summer months from 2011 to 2015 for Lake Lillinonah in Northeastern North America

This dataset was used in the analysis described in the manuscript by Macuch, C. & J. Klug. 2020. High-Frequency Temperature and Oxygen Data Reveal the Potential for Stressful Fish Conditions in a Southern New England Impoundment. Northeastern Naturalist 27(3): 520-533. We include high-frequency dissolved oxygen and water temperature data from Lake Lillinonah in Northeastern North America. These data were collected using in situ, automated monitoring sensors deployed each year into the lake in the spring or early summer months. Data were collected from 07 July 2011 through 14 October 2015. These data were used to assess conditions in the lake as they relate to specific stress thresholds for Northern Pike and Largemouth Bass. We found that summer water temperature was nearly always in an acceptable range for Largemouth Bass growth but was frequently in the stressful range for Northern Pike growth. Dissolved oxygen data show consistent hypoxia at the bottom of the lake during some summers, reducing the potential thermal refuge.

Global 1km Land Surface Parameters for Kilometer-Scale Earth System Modeling (LAI_2011_2015)

<p>Earth system models (ESMs) are progressively advancing towards the kilometer scale (k-scale). However, the surface parameters for Land Surface Models (LSMs) within ESMs running at the k-scale are typically derived from coarse resolution and outdated datasets. This study aims to develop a new set of global land surface parameters with a resolution of 1 km for multiple years from 2001 to 2020, utilizing the latest and most accurate available datasets. Specifically, the datasets consist of parameters related to land use and land cover, vegetation, soil, and topography. Differences between the newly developed 1k land surface parameters and conventional parameters emphasize their potential for higher accuracy due to the incorporation of the most advanced and latest data sources. To demonstrate the capability of these new parameters, we conducted 1 km resolution simulations using the E3SM Land Model version 2 (ELM2) over the contiguous United States. Our results demonstrate that land surface parameters contribute to significant spatial heterogeneity in ELM2 simulations of soil moisture, latent heat, emitted longwave radiation, and absorbed shortwave radiation. On average, about 31% to 54% of spatial information is lost by upscaling the 1 km ELM2 simulations to a 12 km resolution. Using eXplainable Machine Learning (XML) methods, the influential factors driving the spatial variability and spatial information loss of ELM2 simulations were identified, highlighting the substantial impact of the spatial variability and information loss of various land surface parameters, as well as the mean climate conditions. The comparison against four benchmark datasets indicates that ELM generally performs well in simulating soil moisture and surface energy fluxes. The new land surface parameters are tailored to meet the emerging needs of k-scale LSMs and ESMs modeling with significant implications for advancing our understanding of water, carbon, and energy cycles under global change.&nbsp;</p> <p>This data repository is linked to <a href="../records/10815170" target="_blank" rel="noopener">https://zenodo.org/records/10815170</a></p>
