Monitoring and evaluation of UKRI's Open Access Policy: Exploring the use of open data sources to inform baseline values - Dataset
<p>This dataset accompanies the report <em>"Monitoring and evaluation of UKRI's Open Access Policy: Exploring the use of open data sources to inform baseline values"</em>, which is available via Zenodo.<br><br>It provides record-level data of UKRI-funded and UK-affiliated research output (limited to journal articles with Crossref DOIs) published between 2012 and 2022 - including bibliographic metadata as well as data on open access availability, publisher, national and international collaborations, citations, views and downloads, altmetrics and subjects (fields). User participation in digital accessibility evaluations: reviewing methods and objectives
<p><span>Although laws and standardization bodies promote user participation in digital accessibility evaluations, people with disabilities still consider themselves excluded from this process. One reason could be the lack of systematized knowledge about evaluation methods involving users. This article seeks to understand how and for what purpose digital accessibility evaluations with user participation were conducted in the scientific literature from 2018 to 2021. Three types of user participation emerged: 1) user-based usability testing to evaluate task accomplishment, user reactions and interface qualities; 2) interviewing users to assess the local and social factors impacting digital service accessibility; 3) using questionnaires or crowdsourcing to check the compliance of certain interfaces with accessibility standards. Participants are primarily chosen based on their functional impairments and, to a lesser degree, their project-related skills, biographical information, technology habits, among other criteria. The comprehensive user insights gained with these methods are judged to be positive whereas the lack of representativeness of the selected user samples is found to be regrettable. The article finally discusses the definitions of accessibility and disability that underpin these methodologies.</span></p>

An Open-access Database for the Evaluation of Cardio-mechanical Signals from Patients with Valvular Heart Diseases
<p>This dataset is for the paper "An Open-access Database for the Evaluation of Cardio-mechanical Signals from Patients with Valvular Heart Diseases" published to Frontiers in Physiology. Please cite "Yang C, Fan F, Aranoff N, Green P, Li Y, Liu C and Tavassolian N (2021) An Open-Access Database for the Evaluation of Cardio-Mechanical Signals From Patients With Valvular Heart Diseases.<br> Front. Physiol. 12:750221. doi: 10.3389/fphys.2021.750221" when using this database.</p> <p>The archive comprises SCG and GCG recordings sourced from and processed at multiple sites worldwide, including Columbia University Medical Center and Stevens Institute of Technology in the USA, as well as Southeast University, Nanjing Medical University, and the first affiliated hospital of Nanjing Medical University in China. It includes electrocardiogram (ECG), SCG, and GCG recordings collected from 100 patients with various conditions of valvular heart diseases, such as aortic and mitral stenosis. The recordings were collected from clinical environments with the same types of wearable sensor patch. Besides the raw recordings of ECG, SCG and GCG signals, a set of hand-corrected fiducial point annotations is provided by manually checking the results of the annotated algorithm. The database also includes relevant echocardiogram parameters associated with each subject such as ejection fraction, valve area, and mean gradient pressure.</p>
