R-IBU: A basic ice breakup data set for the Aura and Kokemäki rivers
<p>This data set is related to the article ‘Tricentennial trends in spring ice break-ups on three rivers in Northern Europe’ which was published in <em>The Cryosphere</em> in 2022. The data set includes the ice-off dates (the first day the river is ice-free) for Aura River in Turku (60°45’N, 22°27’E) over the period 1749–2020 and the break-up (the date when the ice started breaking up and/or moving) dates for Kokemäki River in Pori (61°48’N, 21°79’E) over the period 1793–2020. Both rivers are in Finland.</p> <p>The data set has been developed for climate research purposes. The aim was to create two series with homogenized break-up dates with regard to site and event. The series will be updated if new observations are obtained. See the Readme_txt for more information about the data sets.</p>

ECHAM5/MESSy v2.53.0 model (EMAC) formaldehyde along the AURA satellite overpass (2010-2012)
<p>The dataset includes netcdf files with daily formaldehyde (HCHO) volume mixing ratio profiles and ancillary data (e.g., pressure) simulated by the chemistry-climate model ECHAM5/MESSy v2.53.0 (EMAC) over 2010-2012. The data are available on a T63 horizontal grid, i.e. with a spherical truncation of T63 (corresponding to a quadratic Gaussian grid of approximately 1.9° by 1.9°), with 31 vertical hybrid levels.The model outputs are sampled along the Sun-synchronous satellite AURA orbits at the time and location of the OMI measurements. Three simulations are provided: 1) EMAC(base) is a reference simulation, 2-3) EMAC(dioh) and EMAC(diol) are simulations with explicit cloud chemistry of formaldehyde.</p> <p>The Modular Earth Submodel System (MESSy) is continuously further developed and applied by a consortium of institutions. The usage of MESSy and access to the source code is licensed to all affiliates of institutions which are members of the MESSy Consortium. Institutions can become a member of the MESSy Consortium by signing the MESSy Memorandum of Understanding. More information can be found on the MESSy Consortium Web-site (<a href="http://www.messy-interface.org">http://www.messy-interface.org</a>). The modifications used to produce this dataset have been implemented based on MESSy v2.53.0. Adrenomedullin induces migraine-like attacks in patients with migraine without aura
<p><b>Objective</b>: To determine whether the intravenous infusion of adrenomedullin, a potent vasodilator belonging to calcitonin family of peptides, provokes attacks of migraine in patients.</p> <p><b>Methods</b>: We have enlisted twenty migraine without aura patients to participate in a placebo-controlled and double-blinded clinical study. In a randomized and crossover design the patients received an intravenous infusion of human adrenomedullin (19.9 picomole/kg/min) or placebo (saline) administrated via an automated intravenous pump for period of (20 minutes). The patients participated in two study days with washout period of minimum of seven days. The main outcome of the study was predefined as a difference in migraine incidence (0–12 h).</p> <p><b>Results</b>: Eleven migraine without aura patients (55%) fulfilled migraine attacks criteria after adrenomedullin infusion in comparison to only three patients reported attack (15%) after placebo (<i>P= </i>0.039). We found that patients reported in a period of (0-12 hours) stronger headache intensity after adrenomedullin in comparison to placebo infusion (<i>P= </i>0.035).</p> <p><b>Conclusion</b>: Our data implicate adrenomedullin in migraine pathogenesis. This suggests that adrenomedullin and/or its receptors are novel therapeutic targets for the treatment of migraine. However, we cannot discount for the possibility that adrenomedullin may be acting through the canonical CGRP receptor.</p>
