Experimental characterization of TERIPHIC quad InP EML array - Generation and transmission of 50Gbaud signals with NRZ and PAM-4 modulation formats
<p>The data sets refer to the results from the experimental characterization conducted on the TERIPHIC quad InP-EML array, which operates in the O-band. Each EML incorporates a DFB laser, an Electroabsorption modulator, and a Semiconductor Optical Amplifier to provide additional power boost, all on the same die. Three out of the four EMLs were characterized successively and generated signals at symbol rates of 50 Gbaud and transmitted them over various fiber lengths. The modulated optical signals were detected by a single commercially avalaible photodetector with more than 70 GHz 3-dB bandwidth. The generated electrical signals were then sampled by a real-time oscilloscope with a 256 Gbaud sample rate. A low-pass filter with a 50 GHz 3-dB cut-off frequency was digitally applied to the oscilloscope to improve the signal-to-noise ratio.<br> The data sets have a filename in the format “Symbol rate#Modulation formats#EMLn#Transmission length#version.bin”, where<br> SYmbol rate = 50 Gbaud<br> EMLn, for n= 2, 3, 4<br> Transmission length = B2B (0 km), 2 km, and 10 km<br> Version: v1, v2 and v3. The European Multi Lake Survey (EMLS) dataset of physical, chemical, algal pigments and cyanotoxin parameters 2015.
The European Multi Lake Survey took place in summer 2015. It was a grassroots initiative comprised 197 scientists from 26 European countries. The EMLS was a snapshot sampling effort where 369 lakes were sampled only once for various physical (e.g. temperature), chemical (total nutrients) and biological parameters (algal pigments and toxins). The sampling period for each region was defined as the locally two-week warmest period based on 10-year air temperature data. The initial purpose was to define how nutrients and temperature would interact to explain variance in algal or cyanobacterial blooms on a continental scale using a space for time substitution approach (spatial rather than temporal resolution of lake parameters). Several other scientific questions addressing what controls toxin distribution on a continental scale, or dealing with cross comparisons between algal numerical methods (microscopy vs pigments vs flowcytometry) are in preparation. Publishing this dataset will allow scientific access to a unique sampling effort over the European peninsula that can generate new research ideas.
Congruence checks for EML-described datasets in the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) Network, Checks described as of 2015
These data are descriptions of all checks contributed to the LTER EML Congruence Checker as of late 2015. The EML Congruence Checker (ECC) informs contributors about the structure of the data package, indicating whether the asserted metadata accurately defines the data entity (table); this is called “structural congruence”. The checks and checking software are discussed in O'Brien, M. C, D. Costa and M. Servilla. 2016. Ensuring the quality of data packages in the LTER network data management system. Ecological Informatics. DOI: 10.1016/j.ecoinf.2016.08.001. Data are organized into a flat table, with one row per check. Each check is characterized with multiple typologies including priority, justification, scope (community), response behavior type and data packaging aspect. Operational information for software includes EML path, criteria for pass/fail, response expected, sample datasets for both pass and fail responses, with failure notes. Management fields indicate if the check has been implemented or not (as of paper publication), with dates when the check was added or updated.
EML congruence checker reports from the Long Term Ecological Research Network PASTA system, 2013-2015
These data are results of LTER EML Congruence Checker reports from 9,353 data packages from 2013 to 2015, by 27 current and former LTER sites, plus ad hoc packages contributed by the Network. All data were gleaned from publicly available reports that accompany each data package at upload. These data and related checks and checking software are discussed in O'Brien, M. C, D. Costa and M. Servilla. 2016. Ensuring the quality of data packages in the LTER network data management system. Ecological Informatics. DOI: 10.1016/j.ecoinf.2016.08.001. Data are organized into a denormalized flat table, with one row per check run (nultiple rows per dataset and per entity). No data for error-responses are present, since these data are from uploaded datasets, and datasets with errors are not accepted.
