Dataset for "Facsimiles as Epigraphic Evidence: Pitfalls and Opportunities"
<p>This dataset is used in the article "Facsimiles as Epigraphic Evidence: Pitfalls and Opportunities" (Journal of Epigraphic Studies 7, 2024, pp. 9-27). </p> <p>The material was collected through the itemisation of the epigraphic archive collection of Olof August Danielsson (Uppsala University Library). Types of facsimiles, date of creation, creator and references to CIE, Etruskische Texte and CIL were collected during itemisation. Information on type of object and material of object is collected from Etruskische Texte, with additional information from CIE. Method of inscription is collected from CIE. </p>

<p>EpiGraph is an agent-based parallel simulator that performs realistic stochastic simulations of the propagation of the COVID-19 virus across wide geographic expanses. The current implementation of EpiGraph includes functionalities for modelling via a realistic interconnection network based on actual individual interactions extracted from social networks and demographical data. This network includes the characteristics of each individual, their relationships at work, school, home and during leisure time, and a transportation model which simulates the spatial dynamics of the virus’ propagation over-large scale areas.</p> <p>This dataset includes the data related to the scenarios of Comunidad de Madrid (Spain) as well the scripts for running the simulator, </p>

Invocation with Epigraphs
<p>The video includes music artist Bettina Joy De Guzman created in collaboration with Angela Cinalli on the concept of the PoetiVaganti project. For the PoetiVaganti project, Bettina has re-purposed a song she wrote for a stage performance in New York where Aphrodite is summoned by means of Sappho’s verses. Sparking from a brainstorm with Angela Cinalli, Bettina has re-adapted the Aphrodite instrumental part to some selected lines coming from epigraphs regarding itinerant artists from the Hellenistic period. As a form of reconversion and contemporary reperformance, this piece is an example of ancient music reception. Bettina and Angela give new purpose to meaningful texts about ancient performers of music and poetry by putting them to music, so that these ancient artists’ deeds will shine anew in modern times.</p>

The epigraph is located in the atrium of the municipal building of the city of terracina, Italy The inscription in Latin is: P(ublius) Numisius P(ubli) f(ilius) Ouf(entina) Iacul[a IIvir] / iter(um) praef(ectus) pro IIv[iro] / P(ublius) Numisius P(ubli) f(ilius) Ouf(entina) Festus [---] / Pantuleia / P(ublius) Numisius P(ubli) l(ibertus) Ter[tius]. The epigraph shows the name of the freedman Publius Numisius Tertius of the gens Numisia. Before him two deceased, of free status belonging to the same gens, are mentioned. The first was Publius Numisius Iacula, son of Publius of the Oufentina tribe, and Publius Numisius Festus of the same tribe of Iacula (they were probably brothers because they have the same patronymic.) Tertius was perhaps freedman of their father). Iacula was twice duumvir (IIvir), and praefectus pro duumviro, that is to say he replaced one of the two duumvirs in office due to impediments of the latter or for other reasons. EpiGraph 1.3 meteorological-based experimental data
<p>This file contains the complete data set of EpiGraph version 1.3.</p> <p>EpiGraph is a scalable, fully distributed simulator that is able to perform large scale stochastic and realistic simulations of the propagation of the flu virus. The current implementation of EpiGraph allows modeling the population via a realistic local interconnection network based on actual individual interactions extracted from social networks and demographic data. At inter-urban scale, we use a transportation model which allows the study of the spatial dynamics of the virus propagation over large geographical areas. EpiGraph also includes a model of the interaction between influenza spreading and climatic and meteorological factors, such as temperature, atmospheric pressure and humidity levels. From the computational perspective, EpiGraph is a network I/O bound application written in C language and implemented on MPI. Internally, EpiGraph performs irregular memory access patterns related to sparse matrices used to model the individual interactions.</p> <p>This distribution contains the meteorological-based experimental data used to run the experiments for the paper entitled <strong><em>Evaluating the impact of the weather conditions on the influenza propagation</em></strong></p> <p><br> In order to install this data set, you first need to install EpiGraph.
