<p>These videos are the results of an experimental campaign carried out in the department of Propellant, Explosives and Blast Engineering of the Royal Military Academy in Brussels to study the flight trajectory of a projectile (steel sphere (5 or 7 or 8mm diameter)) attached to either a detonator or a rear detonated C4 spherical explosive charge. The projectile is accelerated by the blast wave generated by the explosive. The projectile initial trajectory is hidden by the flash of the detonation. After its passage through the opaque gas cloud, the first appearance of the projectile is captured and an almost straight trajectory can be tracked until the end of the field of view of the high speed camera. The test campaign reveals the capability of the projectiles to maintain an oriented path until impact on a target placed at 910mm stand of distance from the center of the explosion. </p>
Data from: Moving like a model: mimicry of hymenopteran flight trajectories by clearwing moths of Southeast Asian rainforests
Clearwing moths are known for their physical resemblance to hymenopterans, but the extent of their behavioural mimicry is unknown. We describe zigzag flights of sesiid bee mimics which are nearly indistinguishable from those of sympatric bees, whereas sesiid wasp mimics display faster, straighter flights more akin to those of wasps. In particular, the flight of the sesiids Heterosphecia pahangensis, Aschistophleps argentifasciata and Pyrophleps cruentata resembles both Tetragonilla collina and T. atripes stingless bees and, to a lesser extent, dwarf honey bees Apis andreniformis, whereas the sesiid Pyrophleps sp. resembles Tachysphex sp. wasps. These findings represent the first experimental evidence for behavioural mimicry in clearwing moths.

First, the projectile is accelerated by the blast wave generated by the explosive. The projectile’s initial trajectory is hidden by the flash of the detonation.<br> After its passage through the opaque gas cloud, the first appearance of the projectile is captured. A straight trajectory can be tracked. At the end of its straight flight in the air, the position of the projectile impact on the target is recorded.</p>

ATom: Back Trajectories and Influences of Air Parcels Along Flight Track, 2016-2018
This dataset contains back trajectories, boundary layer influences, and convective influences of air parcels along NASA DC-8 aircraft's flight tracks during the four ATom campaigns that occurred from 2016 to 2018. Back trajectories were interpolated using National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Global Forecast System (GFS) and Modern-Era Retrospective analysis for Research and Applications, Version 2 (MERRA2) meteorology. Back trajectory analysis determines the origin of air masses by modeling the path of an air parcel backward in time. It can be used to better understand the sources of atmospheric compounds. Boundary layer Influences were determined based on 30 Day Back Trajectories. The atmospheric boundary layer is the lowest part of the troposphere that is directly influenced by earth's surface. The boundary layer influences wind patterns and thus the dispersal of pollutants and other atmospheric compounds of interest. Convective influences were based on 10 Day Back Trajectories and NASA Langley cloud products. Convective influences model the effects of convection on the movement of water vapor through the atmosphere, which influences cloud behavior.

<p>The video shows a typical result from the high-speed camera HSC for the flight trajectory of a 7 mm diameter projectile propelled from the explosion of 10 g C4 at the entrance of the explosive driven shock tube. The video depict the magnitude of the displacement which represents the distortion of the air density due to the passage of the shock wave. The displacement is shown in colors where red represents the highest values. The main features of the flow field around the supersonic freely flying projectile, such as the spherical and the detached shock wave in its front are captured with a good spatial resolution. </p>
ATC Taskload Inherent to the Geometry of Stochastic 4-D Trajectory Flows with Flight Technical Errors
A method to quantify the probabilistic controller taskload inherent to maintaining aircraft adherence to 4-D trajectories within flow corridors is presented. An Ornstein- Uhlenbeck model of the aircraft motion and a Poisson model of the flow scheduling are introduced along with reasonable numerical values of the model parameters. Analytic expressions are derived for the taskload probability density functions for basic functional elements of the flow structure. Monte Carlo simulations are performed for these basic functional elements and the controller taskload probabilities are exhibited.
