Global Gender Gap Index
<p>The Global Gender Gap Index (by World Economic Forum) benchmarks the evolution of gender-based gaps among four key dimensions. The following information are visualized for each country: Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment.</p> <p>The Global Gender Gap index benchmarks 156 countries, providing a tool for cross-country comparison and to prioritize the most effective policies needed to close gender gaps. The methodology of the index has remained stable since its original conception in 2006, providing a basis for robust cross-country and time-series analysis. The Global Gender Gap Index measures scores on a 0 to 100 scale and scores can be interpreted as the distance to parity (i.e. the percentage of the gender gap that has been closed).</p> <p>This dataset includes indicators from 2006 to 2021.</p>
Evaluation of the Impact of the Educational Revolution in Peru and the Gender Wage Gap, 2017-2021
<p><strong><span>Background:</span></strong><strong><span> </span></strong><span>Women's educational attainment and their generation of value through education has increased the prospects for achieving economic equality between men and women. However, women continue to earn lower wages than men, reflecting growing inequality in several countries. Therefore, the objective of the study is to estimate the impact of education on the gender wage gap in Peru over the period 2017-2021.</span></p> <p><strong><span>Methods:</span></strong><span> Quantitative, explanatory study aimed at identifying the impact of education on the gender wage gap in Peru during the period 2017-2021. The research design is non-experimental and uses a time series that analyses the influence of the latent variable of education on the gender wage gap. This is a continuous variable to estimate the Tobit model.</span></p> <p><strong><span>Results:</span></strong><strong><span> </span></strong><span>The results show that the gender gap in Peru exhibited a decreasing trend between men and women during the period 2017-2020, with an average reduction of 10% until 2020 due to the health crisis. The highest average salary was achieved by men in 2019, reaching S/2289.97 soles, while women reached an average salary of S/1368.85 soles. In the post-pandemic scenario for 2021, the gender gap increased by 3%, with men earning an average salary of S/1999.63 soles and women earning an average salary of S/1281.16 soles. The analysis from 2017-2021 shows that years of education had a positive impact on the gender wage gap in Peru based on the Tobit model estimation.</span></p> <p><strong><span>Conclusions:</span></strong><strong><span> </span></strong><span>During the analysis period of 2017-2021, years of education had a positive impact on the gender wage gap in Peru, with the greatest impact occurring during the health crisis. The probability of women's incomes improving with an increase in years of education was 2.35%, while for men, the highest impact was in 2018, with a probability of income improvement of 2.16% in terms of marginal effect.</span></p>

Gender Gaps in Scientific Research: A Systematic Review
<p><strong>Background: </strong>The gender gaps present in the field of scientific and academic research generate discrimination and lack of equal opportunities for women, resulting in several barriers that significantly limit women's scientific productivity. The objective was to identify the main gender gaps in productivity and scientific research.</p> <p><strong>Method: </strong>The researchers conducted a systematic search for articles on gender disparities in women's scientific production in the SCOPUS and REDALYC repositories, taking into account manuscripts in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Articles on gender gaps in scientific production were included, while empirical studies with other approaches to gender discrimination were excluded. Studies that did not address gender differences in scientific research, those that focused only on specific scientific disciplines without taking gender into account, and those that were not available in their entirety were excluded. The search and selection were conducted from May and June 2023. To avoid stumbling blocks, other methods were used, such as initially filtering titles based on a search equation and then excluding those that did not address gender differences in scientific research. Next, manuscripts were reviewed and those that did not meet the inclusion criteria were excluded. Finally, the remaining research was thoroughly reviewed to obtain the information needed for the study.</p> <p><strong>Results: </strong>A total of 23 articles were analyzed, addressing various issues such as discrimination, lack of policies to support women, academic inequalities and other factors that make female participation more difficult.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>The main findings revealed gender gaps that have an impact on worldwide female scientific production. The literature frequently focuses on low output without investigating the causes. When they approach, they just treat the surface. Future research should focus on gender disparities in production, as well as the daily challenges women face in research and scientific production.</p>

Social participation of young people in university settings: gender gap in participatory profiles and explanatory processes.
<p>The present research aimed to analyze, on the one hand, the participatory profile of women and men considering the influence of higher education and, on the other hand, to determine to what extent gender can moderate the impact of intrapersonal variables that previous research has shown to be related to social participation. To this end, two studies are presented: Study 1 addresses the analysis of 3856 university students who had completed at least their first academic year (DATABASE.UNIVERSITY). Study 2 involved 1061 young people who have just started their university studies (DATABASE.STARTERS). In both cases an online questionnaire was used to assess different forms of social participation and the intrapersonal variables of internal efficacy, moral obligation, self-concept and social norms. </p>
