Survey of small mammals using trapping data on all Virginia Coast Reserve barrier islands south of Parramore Island (inclusive) 1975-1978

During 1975 and 1977 live-trapping surveys of small-mammals of the Virginia Barrier Islands were conducted. Primary species encountered were Oryzomys palustris, Mus musculus, Micrutus pennsylvanicus, Rattus norvegicus, Cryptotis parva, and Peromyscus leucopus. Data is presented as primary trapping records giving the date of capture, island, species, sex and reproductive condition of the captured animal. Each animal was tagged to allow individual identification upon recapture. Each island was typically trapped for 8 days in two 4-day sessions.

Inclusive Green Growth Dataset for African Countries

<p><span>Tracking the progress of countries in inclusive green growth (IGG) is crucial for shaping effective sustainable development policies. However, comprehensive IGG data is often inaccessible. Accordingly, rigorous empirical contributions in this direction in the context of Africa remain sparse. To address this, we computed IGG scores for 22 African countries from 2000-2020. Our data reveal that only nine of these countries are achieving green and inclusive growth. This dataset equips researchers and institutions to assess IGG progress and identify pathways that African governments can leverage to promote sustainable development.</span></p>

How does moving Public Engagement with Research Online Change Audience Diversity? Comparing Inclusion Indicators for 2019 & 2020 European Researchers' Night events

<p>Taking place annually in more than 400 cities, European Researchers&rsquo; Night is a pan- European synchronized event that aims to bring researchers closer to the public. In this paper audience profiles are compared from events in 2019 and 2020. In 2019, face-to-face events reached an estimated 1.6 million attendees, while in 2020, events shifted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic and reached an estimated 2.3 million attendees. Focusing on social inclusion metrics, survey data is analyzed across two national contexts (Ireland and Malta) in 2019 (n=656) and 2020 (n=506). The results from this exploratory, descriptive study shed light on how moving public engagement with research online shifted audience profiles. Based on prior research about the digital divide in access and use of online media, hypotheses were proposed that online European Researchers&rsquo; Night events would attract audiences with higher educational attainment levels and greater self-reported, subjective economic well-being. While changes were observed from 2019 to 2020, results for each hypothesis show a mixed picture. The first hypothesis was upheld for the highest education levels but failed for the lowest levels suggesting that the pivot to online events simultaneously attracted participants with no formal education and those with postgraduate qualifications, while attracting less of those with undergraduate or lower levels of education. The second hypothesis was not upheld, with online European Researchers&rsquo; Night events attracting audiences with slightly higher levels of economic well-being compared to face-to-face events. The findings of this study indicate that European Researchers&rsquo; Night events present a clear opportunity to measure the effects of the digital divide in relation to public engagement with research across Europe.</p>

<p>Authors to the case posters and contributors from consortium partners are described in the deliverable.&nbsp;</p> <p>The H2020 YouCount project runs from February 2021 to January 2024 and the consortium consists of 11 partners from nine European countries. Multiple case studies&mdash;consisting of 10 co-creative Y-CSS projects with young citizen scientists (YCS) aged between about 13-29 years old across nine countries in Europe&mdash;will provide knowledge about the positive drivers of social inclusion in general. The cases will further produce knowledge as well as innovations in relation to social participation, social belonging, and citizenship.</p> <p>In line with YouCount&rsquo;s commitment to Open Science and Data Management based on the FAIR Principles, D2.2 provides a sample of open data concerning social inclusion from the research and innovation activities during the implementation period. Stressful crystal histories recorded around melt inclusions in volcanic quartz

<p>Magma ascent and eruption are driven by a set of internally and externally generated stresses that act upon the magma. We present microstructural maps around melt inclusions in quartz crystals from six large rhyolitic eruptions using synchrotron Laue X-ray microdiffraction to quantify elastic residual strain and stress. We measure plastic strain using average diffraction peak width and lattice misorientation, highlighting dislocations and subgrain boundaries. Quartz crystals preserve similar and relatively small magnitudes of elastic residual stress (mean 53-135 MPa, median 46-116 MPa) in comparison to the strength of quartz (~10 GPa). However, the distribution of strain in the lattice around inclusions varies between samples. We hypothesize that dislocation and twin systems may be established during compaction of crystal-rich magma, which affects the magnitude and distribution of preserved elastic strains. Given the lack of stress-free haloes around faceted inclusions, we conclude that most residual strain and stress was imparted after inclusion faceting. Fragmentation may be one of the final strain events that superimposes stresses of ~100 MPa across all studied crystals. Overall, volcanic quartz crystals preserve complex, overprinted deformation textures indicating that quartz crystals have prolonged deformation histories throughout storage, fragmentation, and eruption. The data collected using Laue microdiffraction at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Advanced Light Source beamline 12.3.2 are included below as .xlsx files. Data was processed and analyzed using XMAS (Tamura, 2014) and XtalCAMP (Li et al., 2020).</p>

Enhanced degradability of thiol-ene composites through the inclusion of isosorbide-based polycarbonates

<p><span>Open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) metal plates and screws remain the established standard-of-care for complex fracture fixation. They however have drawbacks such as limited customization, soft-tissue adhesions and a lack of degradation. Bone cements and composites are being developed as alternative fixation techniques in order to overcome these issues. One such composite is a strong, stiff and shapeable hydroxyapatite-containing material consisting of 1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-trione (TATO) monomers which cures through high energy visible (HEV) light induced thiol-ene coupling (TEC) chemistry. Previous human cadaver and <em>in vivo</em> studies have shown that patches of this composite provide sufficient fixation for healing bone fractures; however, the composite lacks degradability. To promote degradation through hydrolysis, new allyl-functionalized isosorbide-based polycarbonates have been added into the composite formulation and their impact has been evaluated. Three polycarbonates with allyl functionalities, located at termini (aPC1 and aPC2) or in the backbone (aPC3), were synthesized. Composites containing 1, 3 and 5 wt% of aPCs 1-3 were formulated and evaluated with regards to mechanical properties, water absorption, hydrolytic degradation and cytotoxicity. Allyl-functionalized polycaprolactone (aPCL) was synthesized and used as a comparison. When integrated into the composite, aPC3 significantly impacted the material&rsquo;s properties, with the 5wt% aPC3 formulation showing a significant increase in degradation of 469 %, relative to the formulation not containing any aPCs after 8 weeks&rsquo; immersion in PBS, along with a modest decrease in modulus of 28 % to 4.01 (0.3) GPa. Osteosyntheses combining the aPC3 3 and 5 wt% formulations with screws on synthetic bones with ostectomies matched or outperformed the ones made with previously studied neat composite with regards to bending stiffness and strength in 4-point monotonic bending before and after immersion in PBS. The favorable mechanical properties, increased degradation, and non-toxic characteristics of the materials present aPC3 as a promising additive for the TATO composite formulations. This combination resulted in stiff composites with long-term degradation suitable for bone fracture repair. </span></p>

EyeOnWater training dataset for assessing the inclusion of water images

<h1>Training dataset</h1> <p>The EyeOnWater app is designed to assess the ocean's water quality using images captured by regular citizens. In order to have an extra helping hand in determining whether an image meets the criteria for inclusion in the app, the YOLOv8 model for image classification is employed. With the help of this model all uploaded pictures are assessed. If the model deems a water image unsuitable, it is excluded from the app's online database. In order to train this model a training dataset containing a large pool of different images is required. The dataset contains a total of 13,766 images, categorized into three distinct classes: &ldquo;water_good,&rdquo; &ldquo;water_bad,&rdquo; and &ldquo;other.&rdquo; The &ldquo;water_good&rdquo; class includes images that meet the requirements of EyeOnWater. The &ldquo;water_bad&rdquo; class comprises images of water that do not fulfill these requirements. Finally, the &ldquo;other&rdquo; class consists of miscellaneous images that users submitted, which do not depict water. This categorization enables precise filtering and analysis of images relevant to water quality assessment.</p>

MicroBooNE BNB Inclusive Overlay Sample (No Wire Info)

<p>MicroBooNE samples are provided for collaborative development&nbsp;in two different formats: HDF5, targeting the broadest audience, and artroot, targeting users that are familiar with the software infrastructure of Fermilab neutrino experiments and more in general of HEP experiments. The HDF5 files are stored on Zenodo, together with a list of artroot files accessible with xrootd.</p> <p>This sample includes simulated interactions of neutrinos from&nbsp;the Booster Neutrino Beam (BNB), overlaid on top of cosmic ray&nbsp;data. The sample is&nbsp;inclusive, i.e. it includes&nbsp;all types of neutrinos and interactions, with relative abundance matching our nominal flux and cross section models. Interactions are simulated in in the whole cryostat volume.</p> <p>The HDF5 files in this sample do not include the information at the wire waveform level (&quot;NoWire&quot; label), allowing for larger number of events to be included in the data set.</p> <p>More documentation, including detailed description of content, recipes, and example usage,&nbsp;at&nbsp;<a href="https://github.com/uboone/OpenSamples/tree/v02">https://github.com/uboone/OpenSamples</a>.</p> <p>Suggested text for acknowledgment is the following:<br> <em>We acknowledge the MicroBooNE Collaboration for making publicly available the data sets [data set DOIs] employed in this work. Simulation data and software scripts used in calculus of ∆36 signature from EMAC clumped O2 isotope-inclusive model

<p>This publication contains simulation data and software scripts for calculating quantities related to clumped oxygen isotope signature (∆<sub>36</sub>) derivation, as described in the &quot;static&quot; framework of Yeung&zwj; et&zwj; al. (2016), hereinafter &quot;Y16&quot;) and subsequently used in Yeung&zwj; et&zwj; al.&zwj; (2019) analysis.
