Survey on policies for innovation in the Global South, 2022.

In July-August 2022, the UNDP Accelerator Labs launched a survey to get a big picture view on the work that its global network of 91 labs was doing to support innovation ecosystems. The results were surprisingly clear-cut and coherent.

First, we learned that a solid majority of Labs had partnered with governments to deploy interventions in support of national innovation ecosystems, or was planning to do so in the near future. We were looking at a surge of government investment in innovation across the Global South. Furthermore, these Global South governments were looking beyond the usual Global North example of policies to support innovation and learning from each other.

Second, we learned that UNDP was widely recognized as the leading organization in supporting Global South governments in this journey. And third, we learned that collaboration with governments that have invested in innovation becomes smoother and more impactful.

This Zenodo entry contains a file aggregating all the responses to that survey.

Sistematic Mapping review of literature about public policies innovation and reading competences

The systematic mapping method makes possible to identify what is known about a topic, what has been researched, what aspects remain unknown, and to obtain information about current trends and future challenges regarding this topic. In this Excel , the following articles were included: studies on innovative public policies related to reading skills, those published only in journals that can be found in two databases: Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus, published from January 2015 to December 2019, and related to the educational sector (social sciences, psychology, multidisciplinary, educational research, medical education, environmental education).

The Relationship between Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy and Nanotechnology Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Dataset for a paper examining the timing of science, technology, and innovation (STI) policy initiatives is critical to the outcomes that they produce. This study examines the advantages and disadvantages of enacting STI policy investments early in a nascent domain of activity - nanotechnology - by looking at patents abd publication data.

Innovation Systems & Policy Insight 3_2022 "Responsible Research & Innovation approach for transitioning the traditional industry regions into digitalized industry territories"

In this ISP Insight Video, coordinator Marianne Hörlesberger tells you more about the EU Project DigiTeRRI which deals with a Responsible Research & Innovation Approach for transitioning the traditional industry regions into digitalised industry territories. The EU project DigiTeRRI empowers 3 traditional industry regions to harness the opportunities presented by digitalisation. The project has co-created a framework and roadmaps for a responsible transition to self-sustaining, digitalised industrial innovation ecosystems. It has worked out the challenges in the interplay between business, academia, government and society to initiate openness, democratic accountability and responsiveness in a process that will in turn promote resilience within these new, digitalised innovation ecosystems. Important attributes for this transition are also gender equality, science education, open access, public engagement, and ethics, which support both organisations and citizens in adapting the transformation that is revolutionising research, industry, economy, & society. Finally, 12 actions, based on the roadmap goals and objectives in each territory have been developed and implemented. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement nº 873010.

Innovation Systems & Policy Insight 2_2021 Steering towards transformative change

New Monitoring Evaluation & Learning tools for improving innovation projects transformative potential
To achieve systemic impacts, innovation projects require reflexive steering to adapt to new insights or
changing circumstances. In MOTION and PROPORTION, AIT researchers collaborated closely with practitioners
working on sustainable agriculture and innovative land use management practices. The AIT team
supported their work through tools that improve the transformative potential of their innovation activities
and helped develop their capacities to promote and steer their project towards systemic and transformative
impacts.
