Multi-instrument observations of the ionospheric response to the 26 December 2019 solar eclipse over Indian and Southeast Asian longitudes

Here, the impact of the 26 December 2019 solar eclipse on the equatorial and low latitude ionosphere has been investigated using ground and space-based observations over Indian and Southeast Asian longitudes. The high-resolution Ionosonde observations at Tirunelveli, GPS TEC observations from a chain of GPS receivers along and across the eclipse path, TIMED-SABER, and Ionospheric Connection Explorer (ICON) satellites were utilized to investigate the eclipse-induced variations in electron density and thermospheric cooling. We noticed a tremendous increase and decrease in the base height of the F-layer, resembling the nighttime Pre-Reversal Enhancement (PRE). Near the eclipse maximum, a strong blanketing sporadic E layer was observed at Tirunelveli with a top frequency of ~18 MHz for 1 hour and 26 minutes. Satellite traces (STs) and ‘U’ shaped ionograms were noticed for the first time over Tirunelveli during eclipse maximum and end phases. The ‘STs’ and ‘U’ shaped traces indicate the presence of short-period gravity waves or TID type of wave perturbations over the Indian region. A maximum of ~5-7 TECU (30-40%) decrease in TEC is observed on the eclipse day for iisc, hyde, and tiru stations. Periodogram analyses of TEC data showed the presence of wavelike structures with periodicities of 18-24 minutes for different stations. Simultaneous observations from the ICON satellite showed an increase and decrease in hmF2 and NmF2 which matches well with the ionosonde observations from Tirunelveli. The temperature profiles from TIMED-SABER and ICON satellites showed a reduction and enhancement in the lower and upper E regions respectively.

Macrosystems Gentry Tree Sampling Plot Latitude, Longitude, and Elevation for HJA, HFR, BCI, CWT, LUQ, and NWT
Patterns of biodiversity, such as the increase toward the tropics and the peaked curve during ecological succession, are fundamental phenomena for ecology. Such patterns have multiple, interacting causes, but temperature emerges as a dominant factor across organisms from microbes to trees and mammals, and across terrestrial, marine, and freshwater environments. However, there is little consensus on the underlying mechanisms, even as global temperatures increase and the need to predict their effects becomes more pressing. The purpose of this project is to generate and test theory for how temperature impacts biodiversity through its effect on biochemical processes and metabolic rate. A combination of standardized surveys in the field and controlled experiments in the field and laboratory measure diversity of three taxa -- trees, invertebrates, and microbes -- and key biogeochemical processes of decomposition in seven forests distributed along a geographic gradient of increasing temperature from cold temperate to warm tropical. This dataset contains the latitudes, longitudes, and elevations of the five Gentry subplots set up for measuring tree growth at each experimental site. These plots were installed by the Enquist Lab and the University of Arizona as part of this macrosystems biodiversity and latitude project supported by the National Science Foundation under Cooperative Agreement DEB#1065836.
GHRSST Level 3C Atlantic sub-skin Sea Surface Temperature from the Spinning Enhanced Visible and Infrared Imager (SEVIRI) on MSG at 0 degree longitude (GDS V2) produced by OSI SAF
A Group for High Resolution Sea Surface Temperature (GHRSST) dataset for the Eastern Atlantic Region from the Spinning Enhanced Visible and InfraRed Imager (SEVIRI) on the Meteosat Second Generation (MSG-3) satellites (launched 5 July 2012). The European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT),Ocean and Sea Ice Satellite Application Facility (OSI SAF) is producing SST products in near realtime from MSG/SEVIRI. SEVIRI level 1.5 data are acquired at Meteo-France/Centre deMeteorologie Spatiale (CMS) through the EUMETSAT/EUMETCAST system. SST is retrievedfrom the SEVIRI infrared channels (10.8 and 12.0 micrometer) using a multispectral algorithm.Atmospheric profiles of water vapor and temperature from a numerical weather prediction model, together with a radiatiave transfer model, are used to correct the multispectral algorithm forregional and seasonal biases due to changing atmospheric conditions. Every 15 minutes slot isprocessed at full satellite resolution. The operational products are then produced by remappingover a 0.05 degree regular grid (60S-60N and 60W-60E) SST fields obtained by aggregating all 15minute SST data available in one hour time, and the priority being given to the value the closest intime to the product nominal hour. The product format is compliant with the GHRSST DataSpecification (GDS) version 2.
IBEX High Energy Neutral Atom Imager (ENA-Hi) Data Release 10, not Compton-Getting corrected, Survival Probability corrected, Ram direction, West Longitude Ecliptic Maps, 1 year averaged data, Level H3
This IBEX-Hi data set is from Release 10 of all-sky map data for the first seven years, 2009-2015, in the form of ram direction Hydrogen, H, energetic neutral atom fluxes with no Compton-Getting corrections for spacecraft motion and with corrections for ENA survival probability between 1 and 100 AU. All-sky maps have been compiled for each consecutive 1 year time interval. The Interstellar Boundary Explorer, IBEX, has operated in space since 2008 updating our knowledge of the outer heliosphere and its interaction with the local interstellar medium. Start-time: 2008-12-25. There are currently 14 releases of IBEX-Hi and/or IBEX-Lo data covering 2009-2017. The data consist of all-sky maps in Solar Ecliptic Longitude, east and west, and Latitude angles for Energetic Neutral Atom, ENA, Hydrogen fluxes from IBEX-Hi from energy band 2 through energy band 6, see the first table below, in numerical data form. This particular data set is from IBEX Release 10 which includes observation from the first seven years, 2009-2015, of the IBEX mission. Details of the data and enabled science from Release 10 are given in the following journal publication: McComas, D.J., et al. (2017), Seven Years of Imaging the Global Heliosphere with IBEX, Astrophys. J. Supp. Ser., 229(2), 41 (32 pp.), http://doi.org/10.3847/1538-4365/aa66d8 The IBEX-Hi band/channel center energies and full width half maximum, FWHM, energy ranges are listed in a table below: +-----------------------------------------------------+ Energy Band Center Energy Energy Range ----------------------------------------------------- Channel 2 ~0.71 keV 0.52 keV to 0.95 keV Channel 3 ~1.11 keV 0.84 keV to 1.55 keV Channel 4 ~1.74 keV 1.36 keV to 2.50 keV Channel 5 ~2.73 keV 1.99 keV to 3.75 keV Channel 6 ~4.29 keV 3.13 keV to 6.00 keV +-----------------------------------------------------+ This particular IBEX-Hi CDF data product was constructed from the original ascii files named using the pattern hvset_tabular_ram_yearN for N=1,7, includes pixel map data from the ram direction, with no corrections, nocg, for the Compton-Getting effect corrections, sp, for ENA survival probability between 1 AU and 100 AU, and a map compilation cadence equal to 1 year. In all, there are 12 IBEX-Hi Release 10 CDF data products resulting from the multiplication of options for two Compton-Getting correction settings by two survival probability settings by three directional settings: antiram, ram, omni. The table below defines how the file naming pattern is constructed for each data product. Note that "ibex_h3_ena_hi_r10" is the file naming pattern root for all twelve of these IBEX-Hi CDF data products. The asterisk symbols in the last column of the table shows the line corresponding to this CDF data product within the expanded file naming pattern schema. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ C-G Corr. This IBEX-Hi data set is from Release 10 of all-sky map data for the first seven years, 2009-2015, in the form of ram direction Hydrogen, H, energetic neutral atom fluxes with Compton-Getting corrections for spacecraft motion and with no corrections for ENA survival probability between 1 and 100 AU.
