Sprenger, Catal, p. 134, at the end of the note.</p> <p>Ff. 2<sup>a</sup>-14<sup>b</sup> contain a complete alphabetical index of all the poets quoted in this work. On fol. 15<sup>a</sup> the real tadhkirah, or rather the anthology (for the biographical notices are either extremely short or left out altogether), begins with a rubâ’i by Bâyazîd Bisṭâmî. On fol. 1<sup>b</sup>, a واسوخت in Rekhta is added.</p> <p>This copy is dated the 1st of Ṣafar, A.H. 1243 (=A.D. 1827, August 24, the twenty-second year of Akbarshâh II, the son of Shâh ‘Âlam and nominal emperor of Dihlî, from A.H. 1221 to 1253 = A.D. 1806-1837).</p> <p>No. 3117, ff. 137, 2 coll., in diagonal lines, with an additional long line between the columns; Nasta’lîḳ, mixed with Shikasta; size, 12 in. by 5 <sup>1/2</sup> in.</p> <p> </p>

A. Sprenger, Catal., p. 132; Bodleian Catal., No. 380.</p> <p>This copy, which is no doubt Mr. Hall’s (see A. Sprenger, Catal., p. 134, note), begins with the letter ض , and ends withى ; the first poet mentioned is Ḍiyâ-aldîn Fârsî. Among the numerous works of Ârzû the most prominent are: سراج اللغة , a glossary of ancient poets; چراغ هدايت , a glossary of modern poets; تنبيه الغافلين , a criticism on Shaikh ‘Alî Ḥazîn; غرائب اللغات , a glossary of Hindî words (comp. Rieu ii . p. 501, and iii. pp. 997, 1030, and 1070<sup>b</sup>), and خيابان گلستان , a commentary on the Gulistân (Bodleian Cat., No. 725; A. Sprenger, Catal., p. 551).</p> <p>This copy is one of the oldest we have of Ârzû’s work, transcribed from the author’s autograph, A.H. 1166 (19th of Jumâdâ-alawwal, sixth year of Aḥmad-shâh’s reign)= A.D. 1753, March 24, by Ârzû’s pupil Mîr ‘Ârif-allâh, known as Imâm-aldîn; it came into Kaiḳubâdjang’s library, A.H. 1204, 2nd of Rabî’-alawwal (A.D. 1789, December 20).</p> <p>No. 3116, ff. 344, ll. 17; Nasta’lîḳ, mixed with Shikasta; size, 12<sup>1/2</sup> in. by 6<sup>7/8</sup> in.</p> <p> </p>
