Fostering safe food handling among consumers: Data from an online survey experiment with 1,973 consumers from Norway and the UK
<p>Data and replication codes for the article "Fostering safe food handling among consumers: Causal evidence on game- and video-based online interventions". 1,973 participants from the UK and Norway, aged 18- 89 years, were assigned to (i) a control condition, or (ii) exposed to a brief information video, or (iii) in addition played an online game (two different conditions). In all conditions, participants answered a pre-survey and seven days later a post-survey. In the survey, next to collecting some information on sociodemographic background and certain preferences, subjects reported some recent food safety behaviors and we elicited beliefs in the efficacy of certain food safety actions, as well as beliefs in myths related to food and hygiene.</p> <p>We use this data set in our publication <br> Koch, A. <p>This dataset contains survey data including the codebook for an online survey conducted in German and French in Switzerland in spring 2021. With this survey, we aimed to find out what students learn and what teachers teach in this course about digital technologies in agriculture. </p>
Local Governance in Ukraine during the full-scale Russian invasion. – Merged data from online surveys of local self-government authorities by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe in 2022 and Kyiv School of Economics in 2024.
The dataset includes responses from two waves of online surveys targeting local self-government representatives in Ukraine, with a focus on crisis governance during the ongoing Russian war. The first wave was conducted from August 30 to September 20, 2022, by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, yielding 241 responses (16% of all Ukrainian local communities). The second wave was conducted by Kyiv School of Economics from January 1 to March 12, 2024, with 181 responses (14% of government-controlled municipalities). Data formats include CSV and SAV files, along with an XSL codebook for both waves. The merged dataset comprises 442 responses from small, medium, and large municipalities under varied security conditions, with a total file size of approximately 4 MB.
Influences on charitable giving for conservation: Online survey data of 1,331 respondents across the US, August 2017
This dataset records survey data collected from an online panel of 1,331 anonymous, nationwide U.S respondents. Data collection was both initiated and completed in August 2017. Survey data is of two major types. The first type, information about respondents, includes (1) select background and demographic information; (2) a brief version of a social desirability scale, measured to test and control for potential bias related to socially desirable responding; and (3) a scale developed to measure moral inclusivity, conceptualized as the breadth of an individual’s moral community (i.e., to what extent do different types of entities “count,” in a moral sense). The second type of data records information about an experimental message manipulation featured in the survey. The dataset includes one variable indicating which of seven manipulated textual messages each respondent viewed, along with several variables used as metrics of response to the messages, including (1) attitudes toward the message; (2) hypothetical willingness to donate for the cause promoted in the message; (3) perceived moral salience of the message (i.e., the extent to which it was perceived as a matter of moral concern); (4) manipulation checks, to test whether the manipulated elements of the messages were perceived as intended, and (5) a donation set-up, in which individuals were given the option to donate between $0 and $5 for a conservation organization, from an incentive fee provided by the researchers.
Questionnaire survey among members of the Czech Pirate Party regarding the use of the online voting system Helios
<p>LimeSurvey application, where only Pirate Party members had access to the survey via a unique URL sent in an e-mail invitation that allowed members to fill out the questionnaire once. The poll ran from 22 February to 14 March 2024. 213 members out of a total of 1,179 party members completed the 19-question poll in full, a response rate of 18.6%. 16 research questions were Yes or No answers, 3 questions were socio-demographic questions focusing on gender, age and educational attainment. 47 women, 146 men and 20 respondents did not classify themselves as male or female. The age group 18-30 years included 27 respondents, 31-40 years included 93 respondents, 41-50 years included 56 respondents, 51-60 years included 24 respondents, 61-70 years included 11 respondents, 71 years and above included 2 respondents. In terms of highest completed education of the respondents, 60 have high school degree, 27 have bachelor's degree, 97 have master's degree, 13 have doctoral degree and 16 have other degree.</p>
Challenges to freedom of speech and journalists in Ukraine in times of war – Non-representative online expert survey of Ukrainian journalists (January 2023)
The expert survey of journalists was conducted from 18 to 27 January 2023 using a self-completion questionnaire in Google Forms. The survey was conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation on the request of the Human Rights Centre ZMINA with the support of Freedom House Ukraine. A total of 132 people participated in the survey. The respondents were selected using the method of voluntary selection and snowballing to the point of saturation. The sample represents only the opinion of the respondents, but it also allows us to talk about certain trends and common assessments of certain phenomena and processes in the journalistic field. The survey includes questions about freedom of speech and self-censorship in the media environment during the Russian-Ukrainian war. The data collection contains original survey data. The Excel file (.xlsx) is the original file with the respondents' answers in Ukrainian, provided by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation. The documentation includes the questions and answer options of the original questionnaire in Ukrainian and English. Additionally, the data collection contains the "Summary" file, which is an analytical report prepared by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation and the Human Rights Centre ZMINA. The report uses data from an expert survey of journalists in 2019 and 2023, and the results of focus groups in 2022.

<p>This upload includes the dataset and questionnaire for an online survey with stakeholders, as part of a case study done for the BioMonitor project. The survey participants work in EU-based organizations involved in the development and manufacture of forest products, especially of the following categories: construction materials, textiles, chemicals, bioplastics, and wood-based composites.</p> <p> <br> <strong>About BioMonitor</strong><br> BioMonitor is an EU-funded project (biomonitor.eu) that aims to establish a sustainable and robust framework that different stakeholders can use to monitor and measure the bioeconomy and its various impacts in relation to the EU and its Member States. Online survey of needs and challenges of innovation ecosystems and intermediaries for taking up activity in the EU space sector
<p>The present dataset was generated as part of the "Needs and challenges of innovation ecosystems and intermediaries for taking up activity in the EU space sector" of the H2020 <a href="http://innorbit.eu">InnORBIT project</a>.</p> <p>The aim of this study was to identify and explore the available and missing skills of innovation intermediaries to provide business support services to innovators within their local ecosystems to develop commercial activity in space. The assessment of skills was based on a baseline framework encompassing a wide array of skills and competencies innovation intermediaries are supposed to possess in order to provide effective business support services to space innovators. The skills of the baseline framework are grouped into five broad categories: (i) space industry knowledge, (ii) business assessment knowledge, (iii) business support skills, (iv) organisational and digital skills and (v) soft skills. The baseline framework was originally developed by the InnORBIT consortium through research in related works of EU funded projects and publications and validated through a series of 15 interviews with top-level executives of organisations across the CEE and SEE area, belonging to the two target groups of the study (i.e., innovation intermediaries and innovators). An online survey was deployed from May 26th to June 18th using the EU Survey tool, to innovation intermediaries and innovators across the EU and CEE/SEE countries in particular. Two online questionnaires were developed building on the baseline skills framework - the first intended for innovation intermediaries asking them to perform a self-assessment of their skills in terms of providing business support services and the second targeting innovators, asking them to state their perception on how innovation intermediaries they have worked with, perform in each of the skills.</p> <p>The dataset contains four files:</p> <p>1. Zip file including the transcripts from 6 interviews with space innovators in Eastern Europe for the evaluation of the baseline framework of skills.</p> <p>2. Zip file including the transcripts from 9 interviews with innovation intermediaries in Eastern Europe for the evaluation of the baseline framework of skills.</p> <p>3. a pdf file of the digital questionnaires developed in EU Survey deployed to innovation intermediaries and innovators in the region</p> <p>4. An excel file with 104 valid responses collected from the online survey (56 innovation intermediaries and 48 innovators) across 16 EU countries / 21 countries total.</p> <p>The dataset contains only non-sensitive anonymised information and is in full compliance with the GDPR provisions. Any information leading to the identification of participants in activities (interviews, survey) is either modified or omitted and deonted with brackets.</p>
Online Real-Time Delphi Survey for the research project "MENARA" - Compilation of all Comments to Closed and Open Questions
<p><strong>Looking into the Futures: Delphi Survey about the MENA region</strong></p> <p>In order to get a more realistic overview of the situation and trends, of the potentials, problems and potentials of the countries of the MENA region a Real Time Delphi survey was conducted. This is an important tool of modern future research. It was managed by the IZT- Institute for Future Studies in Berlin. A group of 139 experts and researchers from different institutes and organizations were invited to participate at the Online Real-Time Delphi Survey (RTD) about possible and likely futures of the MENA region. The experts were asked to answer questions and provide their opinions on twelve topics such as social unrest, youth unemployment, urbanization, gender equality, security etc. In this dataset all comments to the closed and the open questions are compiled.</p> <p>The output was one of the basic material used for the creation of future regional scenarios for mid-term (2025) and long-term (2050) time horizons. Focus scenarios were produced in order to exemplify selected characteristic and important future options, in terms of chances and risks (e.g. energy futures).</p>
Dataset for "Cognitive behavioural therapy self-help intervention preferences among informal caregivers of adults with chronic kidney disease: an online cross-sectional survey"
<p>Data and R code used for the analysis of data for the publication: Coumoundouros et al., Cognitive behavioural therapy self-help intervention preferences among informal caregivers of adults with chronic kidney disease: an online cross-sectional survey. BMC Nephrology</p> <p><strong>Summary of study</strong></p> <p>An online cross-sectional survey for informal caregivers (e.g. family and friends) of people living with chronic kidney disease in the United Kingdom. Study aimed to examine informal caregivers' cognitive behavioural therapy self-help intervention preferences, and describe the caregiving situation (e.g. types of care activities) and informal caregiver's mental health (depression, anxiety and stress symptoms).</p> <p>Participants were eligible to participate if they were at least 18 years old, lived in the United Kingdom, and provided unpaid care to someone living with chronic kidney disease who was at least 18 years old.</p> <p>The online survey included questions regarding (1) informal caregiver's characteristics; (2) care recipient's characteristics; (3) intervention preferences (e.g. content, delivery format); and (4) informal caregiver's mental health. Informal caregiver's mental health was assessed using the 21 item Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-21), which is composed of three subscales measuring depression, anxiety, and stress, respectively.</p> <p>Sixty-five individuals participated in the survey.</p> <p>See the published article for full study details.</p> <p><strong>Description of uploaded files</strong></p> <p>1. Which journal characteristics are crucial for scientists when selecting journals for their publications? Results tables of an online survey
<p>As part of the BMBF-funded project "B!SON - Bibliometric and Semantic Open Access Recommender Network", an online survey was conducted among scientists using SoSci Survey (Leiner, 2019). The aim of the survey was to determine the importance of various characteristics of scientific journals in the decision for a publication venue by scientists. The characteristics were determined by analysis of other recommender systems, literature research and discussion with scientists. The data published here are based on 884 completed questionnaires (only questionnaires in which at least 90% of the questions had been answered were included in the analysis).</p> <p>In the questionnaire, a distinction was made between those characteristics that scientists would like to use to limit the selection of eligible journals from the outset (table "B!SON_Survey_Filter_Criteria_EN") and those that scientists need for their final decision from a list of recommended journals ("B!SON_Survey_Journal_Selection_EN"). For each journal property, the respondents could choose between the categories of a 5-point Likert scale: "not at all important - not very important - somewhat important - very important - extremely important". If the scientists were not able to evaluate a characteristic, they could also select "I can't say". </p> <p>In the two tables of results, the approval percentage and the rank based on it are listed for all journal properties queried in the respective part of the survey. The approval percentage is calculated from the percentage of people who rated the respective property as "very important" or "extremely important". "Towards Responsible Publishing" - Online researcher survey dataset
<p><a href="https://www.research-consulting.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Research Consulting</a> and the <a href="https://www.cwts.nl/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS)</a> were commissioned to determine to what extent the vision, mission and objectives set out in the TRP proposal serve the needs of the global research community. Through a consultative approach, we sought to assess whether there is appetite for the type of change proposed by cOAlition S in the TRP proposal. In addition, we aimed to understand how the ‘Towards Responsible Publishing’ proposal may be modified or refined to ensure it resonates with the research community and sees broad adoption; identify any showstoppers or unintended consequences and propose proactive measures to mitigate them, ensuring successful implementation; and ascertain whether the existing scholaly communication infrastructure can support this proposal and if not, identify where research funders can strengthen the infrastructure. </p> <p>As part of the consultation, the Centre for Science and Technology Studies and Research Consulting developed a researcher survey to gather researcher feedback on aspects of the scholarly communication system. This deposit provides our anonymised survey data. Please note that country information is available for all countries with at least 50 responses; in all other cases, the country has been replaced with “Other”.</p>
Need for Explanations - Survey - Online Material
<pre>This dataset contains the results of an online questionnaire to assess the end-users' need for explanations in software systems. The questionnaire was shared in December 2018 and was online until January 2019. 171 participants initiate the survey and 107 completed it. We just analyzed the responses of the participants who completed the survey. This submission contains: The survey raw data in CSV format, separated by comma values; The .xlsx file containing the same raw data; The .pdf file containing the survey questions; A .rtfd version of the survey questions; A .html version of the survey questions; The .xlsx file containing the analyzed data; The .pdf file containing instructions about the coded data. The raw data contains only the responses from the 107 participants who completed the survey. Blank cells indicate that the participant did not provide a response to the corresponding question or answer option. All responses are anonymyzed and identified by an unique ID. _________ Each row is identified by the participant's ID, the date when the questionnaire was submitted, the last page (18 in total) and the language that the participant chose. The subsequent columns contain the questions. We use codes before each question. First, one of the following symbols: (*) as an indication that the question was mandatory; (*+)as an indication that the question was mandatory but was conditionnally shown, depending on previous answers; (+) as an indication that the question was conditionally shown, depending on previous answers; Next, the code of the question as in the questionnaire. And, if multiple choice, the code of the answer option. E.g.: (*+)A2(3) means that the A2 question in the questionnaire was mandatory and conditionally shown, and that this column contains the responses regarding answer option 3. After this code, the question as on the original questionnaire is shown and, when multiple option answer, the corresponding option is shown between [] after the question. E.g.: "In a typical day, which category of software/apps do you use on your digital devices most often? (More than one allowed) [Games]", where Games was one of the optional answers. The questionnaire was available in three languages: Portuguese, German and English. Responses in German and Portuguese were translated to English. These translations are shown in a subsequent column, beside the column with the original responses, and are identified by the word "TRANSLATION" in the title. Responses which were already in English were not translated.</pre>
Online Data: Evolution of dusty quiescent galaxies over the last six billion years from the hCOSMOS survey
<p>The dataset contains the physical and structural parameters of 545 dusty quiescent galaxies presented in Donevski et al. (2023, A&A accepted, arXiv:2304.05842). The galaxies are observed at intermediate redshifts (0.1 < z < 0.6) as part of the hCOSMOS spectroscopic survey. The dataset contains the physical parameters (redshift, D4000, gas-phase metallicities) estimated from optical spectra, as well as SED-derived specific dust masses and stellar masses. </p>
Linking Twitter & Survey Data [online workshop]
<p>Twitter has become an important data source for many social scientists. While using data from Twitter can help to avoid or alleviate some of the issues related to self-report data, such as social desirability or problems with recollection, Twitter data have their own sets of limitations, including the lack of information about individuals or missing outcome variables of interest. Linking data from surveys and Twitter is a way to combine the unique strengths of the two data types and overcome some of their respective limitations. The online workshop led by Luke Sloan (Cardiff University), Johannes Breuer (GESIS), and Libby Bishop (GESIS) covered the key steps in the research process of linking Twitter and survey data. Specifically, the workshop addressed the phases of study planning, (Twitter) data collection, data processing, and archiving and sharing. The workshop drew on recent experiences from different studies that the instructors were involved in and provided guidance on how to address the ethical and operational issues associated with linking Twitter and survey data in the different phases of the research process.</p> <p>The video is also available for viewing on <a href="https://youtu.be/IG1jJ3WP2h8">YouTube</a>.</p>
