Dataset of "Hydrogen Evolution Reaction Activity in Mo₂TiC₂Tₓ MXene Derived from Mo₂TiAlC₂ MAX Phase: Insights from Compositional Transformations"
<p>MAX phases represent a crucial building block for the synthesis of MXenes, which constitute an intriguing class of materials with significant application potential. This study investigates the catalytic properties of Mo₂TiAlC₂ MAX phase and the corresponding Mo₂TiC₂Tₓ MXene for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Characterization by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) revealed that despite the presence of secondary phases, the HER catalytic activity is primarily influenced by the MAX phase and its derived MXene. Interestingly, the catalytic activity of the MXene improves over time, attributed to the formation of MoO₂ as identified by XPS. This work enhances the understanding of MXene-based materials for electrochemical applications, highlighting crucial structural and chemical transformations that optimize their performance in sustainable energy technologies.3D structure of lanthanum strontium manganite and yttria-stabilized zirconia composites is predicted based on conductivity measurements using Monte Carlo 3D equivalent circuit network approach. To explore the details behind the annealing-induced transformation from the metastable L1<sub>2</sub>-γ′ phase to the thermodynamically stable D0<sub>19</sub>-χ phase in the single-crystalline Co-base superalloy ERBOCo-VF60 (Co<sub>79.8</sub>Al<sub>8.9</sub>W<sub>9.0</sub>Ta<sub>2.3</sub> in at.%), scanning transmission electron microscopy and atom probe tomography are employed. Due to the structural similarity between the L1<sub>2</sub> and D0<sub>19</sub> structures, coherent plate-shaped χ precipitates are formed in the γ/γ′ microstructure parallel to {111} planes through a shear-based transformation mechanism. While the χ phase precipitates slowly during isothermal aging, its formation can be significantly accelerated locally by coating the superalloy with a Cr-rich layer, which indirectly stabilizes the χ phase as revealed by thermodynamic calculations. This procedure allowed us to obtain an intermediate (incomplete) state of χ-phase formation in terms of both crystal structure and composition. By characterizing the partial dislocations at the tip of growing χ precipitates, the microscopic details of the shear-based cubic-to-hexagonal transformation from L1<sub>2</sub> to D0<sub>19</sub> are uncovered. The compositional aspect of the transformation involves a significant diffusion-mediated enrichment of W in the χ phase, accompanied by a simultaneous W depletion in the γ′ phase, leading to its transformation to the γ phase.</p>

Data from: The effect of heat treatments on the phase composition and diffraction patterns of goethite to α-Fe2O3/γ-Fe2O3 transformation
<p class="Body"><span>Recovered iron hydroxides from Electro-coagulated (EC) sludge collected from the textile wastewater treatment plant and heat treated forms of iron oxides on phase composition properties and phase identification were reported. EC sludges containing iron hydroxides were examined with heat treatment at a temperature of 100, 300, 500 and 800 <sup>0</sup>C. The raw and analyzed data of the x-ray diffraction examinations of the raw iron hydroxides containing EC sludge and transformed iron oxides were reported. X- ray <em><span>Diffraction </span></em>(XRD) analytical techniques were used for both raw EC sludge and transformed iron oxides, hematite, characteristic determination. Iron oxide (Hematite) diffraction pattern as comparative to International Central Diffraction Data (ICDD) from heat treated at high temperature EC sludge were evaluated and confirmed. Raw and analyzed data of XRD analysis for both recovered iron hydroxides and transformed iron oxides is uploded in the data repository as PDF and XPS viewer.</span></p>

Uncertainty-aware molecular dynamics from Bayesian active learning: Phase Transformations and Thermal Transport in SiC
<p>Machine learning interatomic force fields are promising for combining high computational efficiency and accuracy in modeling quantum interactions and simulating atomic level processes. Active learning methods have been recently developed to train force fields efficiently and automatically. Among them, Bayesian active learning utilizes principled uncertainty quantification to make data acquisition decisions. In this work, we present an efficient Bayesian active learning workflow, where the force field is constructed from a sparse Gaussian process regression model based on atomic cluster expansion descriptors. To circumvent the high computational cost of the sparse Gaussian process uncertainty calculation, we formulate a high-performance approximate mapping of the uncertainty and demonstrate a speedup of several orders of magnitude. As an application, we train a model for silicon carbide (SiC), a wide-gap semiconductor with complex polymorphic structure and diverse technological applications in power electronics, nuclear physics and astronomy. We show that the high pressure phase transformation is accurately captured by the autonomous active learning workflow. The trained force field shows excellent agreement with both \textit{ab initio} calculations and experimental measurements, and outperforms existing empirical models on vibrational and thermal properties. The active learning workflow is readily generalized to a wide range of systems, accelerates computational understanding and design.</p>
