Standard Cross-Cultural Sample of Religion

<p>The Standard Cross-Cultural Sample of Religion is a product of the&nbsp;<a href="https://religiondatabase.org/" rel="nofollow">Database of Religious History (DRH)</a>. The DRH is a qualitative-quantitative encyclopedic database of historical religious data across time and space. Data are contributed to the project by academic&nbsp;<a href="https://religiondatabase.org/landing/about/people/experts" rel="nofollow">experts</a>&nbsp;and overseen by a panel of&nbsp;<a href="https://religiondatabase.org/landing/about/people/editors" rel="nofollow">editors</a>. The data take the form of answers (provided by experts) to a long list of standard questions grounded in time and space.</p> <p>The Standard Cross-Cultural Sample of Religion is &ldquo;standard&rdquo; in a different way than its namesake, The Standard Cross-Cultural Sample (SCCS). The SCCS was designed to control for region and cultural relatedness. Because of our mostly bottom-up, expert-driven data gathering method, DRH data is heavily overweighted in certain time/space regions. Analysts will have to control for this as they see fit.</p> <p>On the other hand, DRH data is &ldquo;standard&rdquo; in the sense that whatever Group, Place of Text is being portrayed, experts are answering a standardized set of questions, allowing a degree of comparison and quantitative analysis that has simply never been possible before. As the DRH grows, top-down data-gathering pushes will be targeted at underrepresented regions of the world, with the goal of making future versions of the SCCSR more and more comprehensive.</p> <p>The Standard Cross-Cultural Sample of Religion (SCCSR.v2) is provided under CC-BY-4.0 license.</p>

He has hindquarters, legs, and horns of a goat, and the name is here employed to note the large mac- rosetae at the eye region of males that resemble the horns in some illustrations of this god. Turning to Religion as a Mediator of the Relationship Between Hopelessness and Job Satisfaction During the COVID-19 Pandemic Among Individuals Representing the Uniformed Services or Working in Professions of Public Trust in Poland

<p><strong>Introduction.</strong> During the COVID-19 pandemic individuals performing uniformed service or working in a profession of public trust are particularly exposed to chronic stress.&nbsp; The consequences of stress in turn translate into a decrease in quality of life across various domains, including professional functioning. The perceived mental difficulties can lead to feeling of hopelessness, which in turn can generate a decrease in job satisfaction. Religiosity is a factor which, in stress-inducing conditions, not only stops the spiral of perceived resource losses but also triggers gains in the resources possessed.</p> <p><strong>Aim.</strong> In this study, we tested - in the light of Conservation of resources theory (COR) - whether during the COVID-19 pandemic, the preference for positive religious coping strategies (turning to religion) by people declaring religiosity is a mediator for the relationship between perceived hopelessness and job satisfaction.</p> <p><strong>Methods.</strong> The study covered 238 individuals representing the uniformed services or working in professions of public trust in Poland. The Inventory for Measuring Coping with Stress (MINI-COPE) and The&nbsp;Beck Hopelessness Scale&nbsp;(BHS) and were employed in the research. <strong>Results.</strong> The mediating role of turning to religion in relationship between perceived hopelessness and job satisfaction was confirmed only in the group of women. The relationship found in this group indicates that perceived hopelessness is alleviated by turning to religion, which at the same time leads to an increase in job satisfaction.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion.</strong> The obtained results prove that it should be standard practice to offer specialist help after potentially traumatic events in the workplace not only in the form of emotional and/or instrumental support but also in the form of spiritual help.</p>

Towards big religious data, RESILIENCE Research Infrastructure for Data on Religion in the Digital Age

<p>Data in and for religion is arguably as old as humanity. Religious significance has been attached to an immense variety of artifacts and documents, often in written form, in nearly all spoken and written languages over the past millennia. The rise of the digital age gives to the scholar in religious studies the opportunity to build research over a much wider array of data than ever before; institutions which have data repositories (such as libraries, museums, universities, etc.) similarly have the chance to make their collections available to a larger community. On the other hand, however, there is a serious risk that a considerable amount of data gets lost during the &quot;Digital transition&quot;. This paper presents the approach of the RESILIENCE Research Infrastructure in dealing with the issue of big data and data loss within the field of religious studies.</p>
