Annual precipitation and photo-derived vegetation and litter cover (2013-2021) used for analysis in the manuscript “Growing grasses in the desert: Multi-scale Interactions and State Change Reversal in Drylands”

This dataset contains water year precipitation collected from meteorological stations, litter and vegetation cover values derived from overhead photos, and litter and soil accumulation in lateral photos in a long-term experiment (2013-2021) of cross-scale interactions (CSIs) at the Jornada Basin LTER site in southern New Mexico, U.S.A. Manipulations were initiated in 2013 at 15 experimental blocks, each with 4 treatment plots: plant-scale herbicide of mesquite shrubs, patch-scale connectivity modifiers (ConMods), herbicide + ConMods, control without manipulations. Litter, soil, and vegetation cover were estimated using repeat overhead photographs of microplots within treatment and control plots. Litter and soil accumulation were estimated from lateral photos of ConMods. This dataset utilized QuickBird imagery from 2011 to assess ground cover classes within the Jornada Basin, focusing on bare ground, herbaceous, and shrub cover. Daily precipitation data collected from 13 meteorological stations were used to calculate water year (1 October-30 September) precipitation from 2013 through 2021. This dataset provides supporting data for the manuscript "Growing grasses in the desert: Multi-scale Interactions and State Change Reversal in Drylands" by Peters et al.

Revealing Hidden Orbital Pseudospin Texture with Time-Reversal Dichroism in Photoelectron Angular Distributions

<p>Angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) of bulk 2H-WSe2 for different crystal orientations linked to each other by time-reversal symmetry. This dataset supplements a manuscript, and was used to measure a new observable called time-reversal dichroism in photoelectron angular distributions (TRDAD), which quantifies the modulation of the photoemission intensity upon effective time-reversal operation. Experimental results are in quantitative agreement with both tight-binding model and state-of-the-art fully relativistic calculations performed using the one-step model of photoemission, unambiguously demonstrating that TRDAD reveals its orbital pseudospin texture counterpart.</p>

Energy and Emissions Impacts of Atlanta's Reversible Express Toll Lanes and High-Occupancy Toll Lanes

<p>This dataset is the MOVES-Matrix emission rates for the NCST project of Energy and Emissions Impacts of Atlanta&rsquo;s Reversible Express Toll Lanes and High-Occupancy Toll Lanes, developed by our research team at Georgia Institute of Technology.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The abstract of the project is as follows.</p> <p>This report summarizes the impact on corridor-level energy use and emissions associated with the 2018 opening of the I-75 Northwest Corridor (NWC) and I-85 Express Lanes in Atlanta, GA. &nbsp;The research team tracked changes in vehicle throughput on the managed lane corridors (extracted from GDOT&rsquo;s Georgia NaviGAtor machine vision system after comprehensive QA/QC) and performed a difference-in-difference analysis to exclude regional changes, pairing test sites vs. control sites not influenced by the openings. &nbsp;The results show a large increase in overall peak-period vehicle throughput on the NWC, especially on I-575, due to the congestion decrease (20 mph speed increases at some locations). &nbsp;The increase in corridor-level energy use and emissions was smaller than vehicle throughput, but still significant. &nbsp;Predicted downwind maximum CO concentrations only increased from 1.81 ppm to 1.93 ppm(which remains extremely low). &nbsp;The increase in morning peak activity on the corridor likely resulted from diversion of some traffic into the peak from the shoulder periods, diversion of some traffic from other nearby freeway corridors, and diversion of local road traffic into the corridor. &nbsp;Unfortunately, without overall control volume totals and/or pre-and-post travel behavior surveys for the alternative commute routes, it is not possible to quantify the likely reductions in traffic flow and emissions that occurred along the other corridors that likely resulted from morning commute shifts. &nbsp;Hence, the team cannot draw reliable conclusions related to net regional or sub-regional impacts associated with the new managed lane corridors. &nbsp;The impact observed on the I-85 corridor was much smaller than on the NWC, especially at Indian Trail/Lilburn Road (far from the Express Lane Extension). &nbsp;After the Express Lanes opened, energy use and emission rates at Old Peachtree Road increased slightly (as uncongested vehicle speeds increased), but this increase may be short-lived as traffic on the corridor changes over time.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

CSM05 Seasonal summary of numbers of small mammals on the six LTER traplines in prairie habitats on which fire regime has been reversed at Konza Prairie

Data set contains seasonal summaries (spring and autumn) of the number of individuals of each species of small mammal captured (relative abundance) on each grassland trapline. Each record contains year, season, trapline and number of individuals captured of each species. These live trap records are based on daily captures during a single 4-day trapping period in spring (mid-March to early April) and autumn (late October to early December) for each of six permanent traplines established on two fire treatments (three traplines per treatment). These two fire treatments include one treatment that was changed from a 20-year burn to an annual burn and one that was changed from an annual burn to 20 years between fires. Bison do not graze these two habitat types.

Data set contains estimates of end-of-season standing crop biomass (grams per square meter) of live graminoids, forbs, woody plants, and previous year's dead vegetation for 2 soil types (shallow and deep) on the four Fire Reversal Experiment watersheds. This experiment is based on reversing fire treatments on four watersheds, two of which had a history of annual spring burning and two of which had a history of long-term fire suppression. The dataset includes both pre- and post-fire treatments.

Data from: Reproducibility of the Quantification of Reversible Wall Interactions in VOC Sampling Lines

<p>Dataset from the following publication (<a href="https://doi.org/10.3390/atmos12020280">https://doi.org/10.3390/atmos12020280</a>). In the paper, a method to&nbsp;quantify the amount of substance segregated by reversible interactions on sampling lines is proposed. The areic amount of a VOC (Acetone) interacting with the pipe is measured for a commercial test pipe (Sulfinert&reg;) as the amount of substance per unit area of the internal surface of the test pipe segregated from the flowing gas mixture. The areic amount is function of numerical integrals estimated under different conditions and reproducibility is evaluated. The data used to estimate the integrals described in this work is organised in folders. Each folder correspond to a sample. Sample information is available on Table 3 of the paper.</p>

Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty Alters Humerothoracic, Scapulothoracic, and Glenohumeral Motion During Weighted Scaption

<p>This dataset contains scapula&nbsp;and humerus kinematics from 10 healthy subjects, and 10 subjects post-operative to reverse total shoulder arthroplasty,&nbsp;performing&nbsp;scapular plane abduction (scaption) with and without a 2.2 kg&nbsp;(5 lb) handheld weight.&nbsp; The humerus and scapula were imaged at 100 Hz using a biplane fluoroscopy system. 3D models of the humerus and scapula were constructed from each subject&rsquo;s CT scan. Model-based markerless tracking ascertained the 3D position and orientation of each bone model by semi-automatically aligning digitally reconstructed radiographs against each frame of the biplane fluoroscopy recordings. The kinematics of the bones are presented relative to each subject&#39;s torso. These data are available for download to aid researchers and clinicians in characterizing non-pathologic and reverse total&nbsp;shoulder arthroplasty&nbsp;motion during scapular plane abduction with and without a 5 lb handheld weight.</p>

The Effect of Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMPs) and Overdose Reversal Drug Accessibility Laws on Opioid Analgesic Mortality in the United States

<p><strong>Purpose: </strong>This analysis focuses on the impact of Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMPs) and increased layperson access to the overdose reversal drug Naloxone on prescription opioid mortality rates. The prescription opioid mortality rate was analyzed against state laws governing PDMPs and Naloxone accessibility to laypersons to evaluate if there was a correlation between mortality reduction and implementation of the laws.</p> <p>Three main analyses were conducted:</p> <ol> <li>Does a state&rsquo;s opioid mortality reduction correlate to an effective PDMP and/or Naloxone law?</li> <li>Do states with strong PDMP laws have a corresponding opioid overdose mortality rate reduction?</li> <li>Do states with strong Naloxone accessibility laws have a corresponding opioid overdose mortality rate reduction?</li> </ol> <p><strong>Conclusion:</strong> Patterns show that PDMP and Naloxone accessibility can be successful in reducing mortality rates, but implementations and results vary dramatically between states. Further changes to both PDMPs and Naloxone accessibility are needed for states to see reliable and consistent mortality reductions. Changes to regulations need time to implement and take effect, meaning longer term measurements and data will be required to see if positive impacts can be sustained.</p> <ol> </ol> <p><strong>Data and Datasets:</strong></p> <p>There are three main datasets used in the analysis.</p> <ul> <li>Opioid mortality rate by state from 2006 to 2016. <ul> <li>This datasetis from the CDC website (<a href="https://www.cdc.gov/drugoverdose/data/statedeaths.html">https://www.cdc.gov/drugoverdose/data/statedeaths.html</a>). I used web scraping and regular expression search to extract the data and calculated mortality reduction of each state.</li> <li><em>Mortality reduction formula: (Highest mortality rate) &ndash; (2016 mortality rate)</em><br> &nbsp;</li> </ul> </li> <li>PDMP law implementation in each state and its timelinefrom January 1, 1998 to July 1, 2016. <ul> <li>Dataset is from the Prescription Drug Abuse Policy System(<a href="http://pdaps.org./datasets/prescription-monitoring-program-laws-1408223332-1502818372">http://pdaps.org./datasets/prescription-monitoring-program-laws-1408223332-1502818372</a>).&nbsp; This dataset encompasses laws regulating which professions have access to the database and for what purpose, whether practitioners can delegate their access, whether patients can see their own information, and the extent to which access to individually-identified records may be granted for law enforcement purposes.</li> <li>This dataset is not quantitative, but a set of questions on the characteristics of the laws governing the PDMP.I performed the following data preparation to allow for analysis and visualization:</li> <li><em>PDMP law effectiveness calculation:Each question with a &ldquo;Yes&rdquo; answer adds one point to the law&rsquo;s cumulative effectiveness score on the year it was implemented.</em></li> </ul> </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Naloxone accessibility to laypersons law implementation in each state and its timeline from January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2016. <ul> <li>Dataset is also from the Prescription Drug Abuse Policy System (<a href="http://pdaps.org./datasets/laws-regulating-administration-of-naloxone-1501695139">http://pdaps.org./datasets/laws-regulating-administration-of-Naloxone-1501695139</a>).This dataset focuses on state laws that provide civil or criminal immunity to licensed healthcare providers or lay responders for opioid antagonist administration.</li> <li>This dataset is not quantitative, but a set of questions on the characteristics of the laws governing Naloxone accessibility to laypersons. The simulation scripts (*.mx3 files) and exemplary plotting scripts in Python 3.9 (*.py files) are included.</p> <p>Paper abstract:<br> Despite the unprecedented downscaling of CMOS integrated circuits, memory-intensive machine learning and artificial intelligence applications are limited by data conversion between memory and processor. There is a challenging quest for novel approaches to overcome this so-called von Neumann bottleneck. Magnons are the quanta of spin waves. Their angular momentum enables power-efficient computation without charge flow. The conversion problem would be solved if spin wave amplitudes could be stored directly in a<br> magnetic memory. Here, we report the reversal of ferromagnetic nanostripes by spin waves which propagate in an underlying spin-wave bus. Thereby, the charge-free angular momentum flow is stored after transmission over a macroscopic distance. We show that the spin waves can reverse large arrays of ferromagnetic stripes at a strikingly small power level. Combined with the already existing wave logic, our discovery is path-breaking for the new era of magnonics-based in-memory computation and beyond von Neumann computer architectures</p>

Raw and post-processed data for the study of prosodic cues to word boundaries in a segmentation task using reverse correlation

<p>The current dataset provides all the stimuli (folder <strong>../01-Stimuli/</strong>), raw data (folder <strong>../02-Raw-data/</strong>) and post-processed data (<strong>../03-Post-proc-data/</strong>) used in a prosody reverse correlation study with the title &quot;prosodic cues to word boundaries in a segmentation task using reverse correlation&quot; by the same authors. The listening experiment was implemented using one-interval trials with target words of the structure l&#39;aX (option 1) and la&#39;X (option 2). The experiment was designed and implemented using the <a href="https://github.com/aosses-tue/fastACI">fastACI toolbox</a> under the name &#39;segmentation&#39;. A between-subject design was used with a total of 47 participants, who evaluated one of five conditions, LAMI (N=16), LAPEL (N=18), LACROCH (N=5), LALARM (N=5), and LAMI_SHIFTED (N=3). More details are given in the related publication (to be submitted to JASA-EL in May 2023).</p>

Raw and post-processing data for using auditory models to mimic human listeners in reverse correlation experiments from the fastACI toolbox

<p><strong>Description</strong>: The current dataset provides all the stimuli (folder ../01-Stimuli/), raw data (folder ../02-Raw-data/) and post-processed data (../03-Post-proc-data/) used in the Forum Acusticum 2013 paper titled &quot;Using auditory models to mimic human listeners in reverse correlation experiments from the fastACI toolbox&quot; by the same authors. In this paper, we replicated the tone-in-noise experiment by Ahumada et al. (1975) but using an artificial listener instead of collecting data from real participants. The behavioural data were mimicked using an artificial listener based on &#39;king2019&#39; (King et al., 2019) as a front-end model using a template-matching decision to indicate whether a 500-Hz tone was (or not) present in each of the noisy trials. This study offers a step-by-step guide of how can be an artificial listener integrated into fastACI.</p> <p><strong>Use these data</strong>: Download all these data, locate them in a local directory of your computer. If you have MATLAB and you downloaded a local copy of the fastACI toolbox (open access at: <a href="https://github.com/aosses-tue/fastACI">https://github.com/aosses-tue/fastACI</a>) you can recreate the figures of our paper. After downloading and initialising the toolbox (type &#39;startup_fastACI;&#39;, without quotation marks in MATLAB), run the script <strong>g20230501_FA_Artificial_listener_paper_figs.m</strong> (provided in this dataset) and follow the instructions on the screen to generate one of the four study figures.
